Yes and TRS from full price !

      • And pro version. That 500nit screen makes a big difference

        • my case would be 90% at desk with external monitor and 10% hotel/cafe when travelling overseas (probably not bother carrying actually, too heavy)

          • @CyberMurning: See I use mine mostly as a pseudo desktop using the in built screen and this screen is definitely better than my work 2nd screen. Not enough space for another screen.

            • @ColtNoir: well for my work 15" is not enough i have 21" and 32" and then the work laptop 14" just for group chat :(

    • Whens cashback

even at this price in order to use a gaming laptop, you really need to have it plugged in if you can have it plugged in why I have a laptop and not build a desktop with better specs and expandability for the same price or less

      • +2

I thought even if i dont game its better to get laptop with good gpu so it can last longer without me need to replace… (laptop sits on desk 95% and i really dont want desktop build)

      • +1

A laptop also gives you a built-in UPS and, on the odd occasion you want to use it elsewhere you can because it's a laptop.

        • -1

Right, but you're making some serious compromises for that UPS and ability to use it elsewhere.
It's very difficult to get anything done on a tiny 15" laptop screen in comparison to a desktop display that's going to be four times the size, and the desktop machine will probably give you double the performance for your money.

Absolutely buy a laptop if you need portability - but if you're going to just leave it on a desk at home, then a desktop machine is better in every way.

      • +4

Because some people travel for work or study. Or some of us dont have room for a desktop.

Isn't this 13th Gen HX got issues like motherboard fried and should be avoid?

    • -3

Heat is an inherent issue for majority of gaming laptops. I personally would recommend undervolting the CPU and overclocking the GPU if you have experience. There should be a lot of reddit threads/youtube videos for guides on how to do it. I personally switch off CPU turbo boost feature via Windows registry method as it does not offer any real FPS advantage during gaming except heat and fan noise. Overclock the GPU using MSI afterburner for Core and Memory clocks for a nice FPS boost on 4k monitor as GPU heat is much better managed on these laptops than CPU heat.

      • +5

That has nothing to do with what they are talking about. Look up "Intel 13/14th gen CPU degradation"

        • +1

I believe the issue is prevalent on desktop CPU line of 13th Gen and 14th Gen chips rather than laptop CPU's but could be wrong.

          • +1

@hoolahoop: HX Intel laptop CPUs are a based on the same architecture as 13/14th gen desktop. They are technically just down clocked desktop CPUs and could be prone to the same problems. Intel just won't say yes/no if there is an issue with them.

            • +2

@shellshocked: Below thread was an interesting read. Most posts are from people who have the HX series laptops. There has been no evidence as yet of an issue with mobile line of CPU's which have different power draws and limits compared to desktop line (only assumptions). I personally still am on 12th Gen 4060 build so each to their own.

              https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLaptops/comments/1e6krcp/inte…

As per the Undervolting guide linked in above thread:

The guide is mainly for 13th/14th gen Intel HX CPU's like the 13950HX, 13980HX, 14700HX, 14900HX that boost beyond 5.4ghz.

If your CPU doesn't boost past 5.0ghz. This isn't necessary as your CPU won't request more than 1.4v

Safe to say 13450HX should be fine as it doesn't boost past 4.6 Ghz(Though would still recommend CPU turbo boost off to manage heat and fan noise).

Yup avoid the 13th gen intel stuff.

I aint rolling the dice with that kind of money

      • you are just another sheep then who cant research properly, its the i7 and i9 DESKTOP chips with the issue not literally everything

    • no stop trying to spread misinformation that can be searched for in 1 click

      • We'll it's not about misinformation. Intel denied it for more than a year only for them to be caught with their pants down. They blamed everyone else but themselves unit they got caught out.

        • it effects desktop chips i7 and i9

why do you people insist that it’s everything? I dont understand

There’s no evidence that its everything there is no reccuring issues on those chips like your delusion says so

is it fun to lie or something

          • @Freestyle: You seem to be taking this very personally. Intel is a multibillion dollar company that profits on the sale of CPUs to the consumer. The have used multiple marketing tactics to deceive the customer and there are plenty of court cases against them in the past and currently. You just have to do a search via Google.

The 13/14th gen issues has been going for a long time and Intel never admitted anything until they got caught out. If they had taken responsibility in the first place, this issue would have blown over. Consumers have every right to be cautious due to Intel's past actions so they don't get burnt whether it be on desktop or mobile.

            • @shellshocked: because lying about it because you hate Intel is behaviour of people who frequent r/pcmr subreddit

There's issues with 2 SKUs that was found and thats it, none of the others had widely reported issues, why are you trying to pretend like its exactly the same as the i7 i9 issues and randomly in a year they'll be caught with the same issues with Laptop and non i7 and i9 chips?

or if you have proof of widespread reports of laptop chips and other SKUs of desktop chips failing link them here, if its there shouldnt be hard for you

              • @Freestyle: It's a multi-billion dollar company not an individual. If companies such as Apple, AMD, Microsoft etc. had taken such a long time to respond to an issue, like Intel has, they would be in a similar situation. Based on you first sentence about Reddit, I think you are taking this too personally and seem think people have some sort of love/hate relationship about a large company. They are there to take your hard earned money for a product. They are not your friend. It's good to be cautious.

                • @shellshocked: You cant even share any documentation that this issue exist in laptop and i3, i5 chips and i am taking it personally huh

basically 'nah dont have any proof, i just hate them because xyz reason'

It's crazy to me that this is considered a good deal these days. A 1080p screen? Tiny battery? Not even a full 1TB SSD nor the full 32GB of RAM. I bet the GPU is power throttled too, and I wouldn't be surprised if the cooling is insufficient. And $1.5K is meant to be a bargain deal worth sharing?

Crypto and the Wuhan flu really did a number on the hardware industry, but AI has ruined it.

    • so this one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/864384 also not a good deal? very similar price

      • I guess these days 'good deal' is relative. If you need to buy a laptop, it doesn't really matter if there simply aren't any deals as good as there used to be anymore.

The issue with that one IMO is that the GPU is heavily throttled. 115W is the unthrottled base power budget, but that is set to a mere 55W. It makes a big difference.

It is a 4060 gaming laptop. When was mid range gaming laptops from reputed brands ever dirt cheap?
Much cheaper than this and it’ll be at the price range of handheld gaming devices.

Most people don’t care about battery size of a gaming laptop. You sound like you’re comparing it to non gaming laptops.
You want a device with 16” QHD screen, 32GB RAM, 1TB memory, NVidia RTX 4060 and great battery life, at the price of a mobile phone/handheld?

      • Firstly - reputed brands? Oh come on. This isn't a car or fashion we're talking about. If you seriously think a Lenovo non-enterprise laptop has any better build quality or whatever than any other consumer electronics manufacturer, you're dreaming.

And yes mate, they were cheap for what you got. Here's some random deal from back in the day, I didn't look hard at all:

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/846616

Same spec for its generation, good power budget for the GPU (they don't even state what it is for this model, which probably means it's throttled to crap to cheap out on power components and the heatsink), except it's got a vastly higher reso screen, aluminium construction, and it's much cheaper!

I'm saying that the price is sh!t for a gamig laptop compared to a gen ago. Obviously gamers don't usually care about battery life, I'm equally obviously pointing out that they can't use the excuse of having an expensive battery to justify the cost.

15.6" qhd panels are dirt cheap. I don't care if it's a 16gb, 512gb spec, but if it is - it had better reflect that in the cost. Not sure why you're randomly obsessed with handhelds mate, stick to relevant comparisons.

        • The laptop you linked is an 80tgp RTX 3060. That says how much you understand gaming laptops. You are free to have your opinion. I am not a sales person for this laptop so I have no reason to convince you. Have a good day.

          • @tjoy: LOL

And what do you think the TGP of this model is? 110W is the max for 3060, so with the boost the performance difference isn't catastrophic. Again , take the price into account here, genius.

Obviously a 3060 isn't as good as a 4060, no shit it's an older model, but I'm just saying prices have gone through the roof while features I'd call somewhat basic for this price range have actually been stripped back! And for what? Surely NVIDIA hasn't doubled the price they're charging the OEMs over one gen …
