ECOVACS GOAT G1 Robotic Lawn Mower $1999 Delivered @ Ecovacs

80

I was looking for a deal on a wire free robotic lawn mower given that the lawn mowing season is about to start.

I first came across the Amazon deal at the same price: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BQ35NDW1
However, Ecovacs is running a direct deal at the same price, and that also includes two freebies:

  • two blade kits (each worth 29.99AUD)
  • two navigation beacons (each worth 199AUD)

This is a better deal particularly if you have a large yard or one that is not perfectly rectangular (so I would say most of us).
Ecovacs provides a neat tool to calculate the optimate beacon number and position: https://adv-app.dc-eu.ww.ecouser.net/beacon_tool/index.html#…

  • I considered this, but was concerned of it becoming self aware and running down the street.
Or someone stealing it from the front lawn accidentally mistaking it for a pleasure model.

  • Wow, the design looks better than my car :D

      Camry, is it?

  • My $1000 Ecovacs Deebot died after 2 years of sucking just dust. I can't imagine how long it will last trying to mow a lawn outdoor…

    • Lucky you got 2 years from yours, mine died after 8 months.

      • Well it did also die in the first year and had it fixed under warranty.

    • +1

My ecovac been 3 1/2 years still kicking with all original stuff… I only force to just buy additional dust bag and reusable mop..

Do I gonna buy another ecovac? probably not since dreame, roborock and eufy have more compelling product. But I will buy it again if my option only dyson, LG, irobot or samsung

  • Frankly it's terrifying, but I would probably buy it if I had money to burn.

I've never looked at robotic mowers much, but that cutting deck looks tiny! It gives the impression that it'd really struggle on any even slightly thick lawn.

It also says a lot that the product page for it only talks about the tech side and nothing about the actual cutting performance.

Given that many electric mowers with much more power struggle on thick grass, I would say this would have zero hope

I saw one in action at a AirBnb I stayed. Basically runs twice per day every day, so it only trims the grass.
That removes the need to take the clipping away too. They do work quite well and the guy owning the place was swearing that he was getting way less weeds too (not sure how that would work though)

      • Less weeds makes sense if the weedy grasses never get long enough to go to seed. Over time the weed seedbank in the soil will deplete and the lawn can be reseeded when the desirable grasses die.

Lawn mower robot not for mowing thick lawn, it just regularly trim off the top to prevent it from getting thick enough to cause it problems. So a human have to do a first mow then after that it just does one every few days.

    • You're missing the point of robotic mowers. They aren't intended to do thick lawns (although they still do decently well). They are intended to be run regularly to keep the lawns short in the first place

I have a Landroid and I like it. It only does long grass when it rains for many days at a time in summer and it cuts it well. I have mine going 3 times a week in winter and daily in summer. It's particularly useful for me since I travel often for work.

BTW, if you are wondering how to actually add it to the cart, you have to accept cookies before you can see the "buy now" button. Frankly, worst website design ever

  • I love that they called this the Goat.

$1743 is the cheapest I can find so far in the app, with the same blade x2 + beacon x2 freebie. It’s under “member special” for $1799 where you can join member for free and then you redeem 5600 points for a further $56 discount.

If you don’t need the extra beacon x 2, and want to avoid the trouble of selling the beacons, try to price match it @Bunnings for a further 10% discount to potentially bring it down to $1568.7 or $1619.1, depends if they honour the $56 discount from points redemption.

Good call. Bunnings will price match, but they won't include the extra beacons/blades as you pointed out. You can use voucher code '4YUE' on the Ecovacs website/app to get another 5% off, so the total is $1653.05 with the 5600 points.

I'd rather push my mower around the yard. At least I get 30 minutes of not listening to the complaints from the wife/kid/dog etc. A little bit of peace.

I’ve had one for over a year. Zero issues. Upgraded from a Worx Landroid. Doesn’t get lost. Decent cutting job. Battery is great. Can change mowing direction to give the grass a little mix up. Camera on it is hilariously bad but enough to check vaguely what’s going on.

There is some newer tech out there this year, but for $2k this is great.
