Pretty sure all of OZB cancelled their card. Lol.

Only those that don't have price protection on it.

Even with the new fee it's still more than worth it for $96 a year

      • yeah, I've claimed $482 this month.
also if people use it enough, they'll get a $10 giftcard as well.

        • What do you claim on it? Asking as someone who also has the price protection but doesn't seem to get as much use out of it as I'd like.

@ngengerous: Works great with tech products that depreciate quickly i.e. mobile phones and tablets. Also useful in the following example:

Google Pixel Tablet was $899 at the Google Store
            1) Contact Google Store for price match ($599 JB-Hifi). Google would easily do price match and agree to refund the difference amount once item is shipped.
            2) Get a 2TB Google one plan which gives 10% back in store credits (Get $89 back in store credits once item is shipped)
3 ) Order Pixel tablet + free case from Google store paying full price
            4) Once device is shipped you get refund for difference amount plus free case
            5) Use Latitude to obtain a further $300 price drop claim

So effective price would be 299 - 89 (credits) with free case. Then cancel 2TB Google one.

            • @zer0ne: That's genuinely impressive - never thought to find places that'd refund the difference as a seperate refund amount. Cheers for sharing!

              • @ngengerous: There's a couple of different benefits from price protection - there's the convenience , and then there are savings.

                Convenience:
You can shop wherever you want and buy something because it is convenient. Eg, shoes at RRP$199 (full price rip off) - you try them on and you like them - you could either thank the assistant for their time in fitting you and then go home and look online and buy it for less, or you can just buy it right then and claim back from an online store. In this case, money saved = $0 as you could buy it elsewhere (possibly add shipping). Although in the year it may still reduce further in price which then becomes a true saving.

                Savings:
Sometimes even buying on a good sale you get further discounts later on. You can price match so many things it basically just depends on you. I have recently price matched headphones, pillow, cat bowl, tshirts, laser pointer, food processor, RAM, USB drive, a book, etc…

so many things you can price match

Another tip is you buy something that is a rip off price with a high cashback, eg, Myer 22% cashrewards today - and then price match to a lower amount and the cashback lowers the price further.

                • @bohn: You make it sound great … shame it's a grandfathered benefit now. I never shelled out for it originally.

                • @bohn: Good examples, but for me I'm still in the fence is PP is really beneficial (I haven't claimed much). I guess it's good for stuff if you had plan to purchase regardless, otherwise can be a bit of an impulse buy decision simply because you can claim back via price match.

There's also a lifetime cap for claims IIRC?

                  • @Craze: 20k lifetime.

Whenever I buy something if it's something I think I'll get a reduction on later I just chuck it on 28deg.

It's obviously not beneficial if you don't claim much.. ;) but the amount of categories you can claim on is massive so it's really just a matter of whether you can be bothered to do it.

                  • @Craze:

I guess it's good for stuff if you had plan to purchase regardless

sorry, just found this amusing today thinking about what you said.

So many things you will go out and plan to purchase regardless (all year, every year) - and you have a choice, chuck it on 28deg, some other points earning credit card that you can't price match with (or even a debit card). Either way, you are paying for things all year that you were going to buy anyway.

But only one of those cards you can lower the price of the item for another 365 days.. ;)

                    • @bohn: For a typical household, probably yes. Not so much if you're single or couple with not too much spending 😁 (debatable, but I don't necessary buy gadgets/white goods) every year.

                      • @Craze:

Price Protection does not cover the following items:
                        • jewellery, precious metals and precious stones
                        • cash or its equivalent (including gift vouchers, traveller’s cheques, tickets, postal orders and other negotiable instruments)
                        • perishable items including foodstuffs, groceries, beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and other consumables
                        • animals and living plants
                        • used and second-hand items
                        • special-order, tailor-made or one-of-a-kind items
                        • items offered during a ‘closing down’, ‘going out of business’ or similar sale
                        • items sold as floor display discounts, imperfect, seconds or damaged items
                        • items returned for a refund
                        • items purchased outside Australia

I really envy you , that you can live such an ascetic lifestyle. Possibly wearing the same monk's robe all year? No need to even buy any clothes, shoes, etc etc. Amazing! :) No need to buy any bedding stuff, cos you sleep on straw. Never need to buy any tools. Reading books is probably not necessary, whether paper back or on a ereader - this would distract from your praying. Nothing of yours ever dies or needs replacement either. I guess if you don't own anything, nothing can break. That's the ascetic lifestyle , baby!

I think I get it now. You do not buy anything. Or maybe everything you buy is on the list above, of things that cannot be price matched ;)

                        • @bohn:

Or maybe everything you buy is on the list above, of things that cannot be price matched ;)

Most things purchased are on sale and can't really be price matched. I remember in the early days having the card PP had a min of $10 difference (as my first submission was for <$10 difference)

                          • @Craze: namaste :)

I buy a lot of stuff on sale too, only better sales come along.

    • I cancelled before they got hacked and my details still got released LMAO

      • +1

Law requires them to keep some details for a certain amount of time, so unless you cancelled many years ago, probably makes sense.

    • +1

      yeah, its Bankwest's time

  • Not getting any offers.

    • I haven't either - and in the past, sometimes I have been emailed it about a month after I have read about it on ozb.

    • my email just arrived

  • How about reject shop cashback $15 spent get $5 back

    • @Andyrates
      Reject shop rebate…

Was that an email today ?

      • Same email as big W and chemist warehouse

        • Thanks for quick response

-will check may have missed that…

          Edit:
Not this time- fairly sure had that offer earlier this year, so maybe that's why not on offers this round.
