Be nice if they expanded to Cairns!
A price war is the war we need.
I can see $12/kg in Sydney here.
What store?
Surry Hills, Bondi, Broadway, Marrickville, Miranda, Parramatta, Penrith, Katoomba, all $8/kg.
Just checked again and it is now $8/kg
NSW price will go up to $15/kg after this promotion.
Could you put the whole piece in a slow cooker with some veg and stock and turn it into a casserole type dish? (Breaking the meat with a couple of forks after it’s been slow cooked)?
That's the way to go. Gelatin is magik powder. I put a Tbsp of vinegar for it to leech out the minerals in the bone https://journals.humankinetics.com/view/journals/ijsnem/29/3…
Not slow cooker, however this is a tried and tested (by our family) recipe.
Lamb literally falls off the bone:

If you read down the recipe, she also has a slow cooker recipe…
I see Nagi mentioned, I upvote.
This is my go to and a family fave!
Most of the stock will have been repriced from the standard labels. Pay close attention to the weights between the new and old labels. Usually when this special is on i'm able to get a few legs that have the wrong stickers. Got one on Friday that was 3kg but had a 2.2kg sticker from another leg on it.
Lmao going to try this
or if it has an old sticker with the wrong price, can get it for free
Wait what does this mean lol.
There's a lot of room for error when there is 100kg+ of meat to be repriced which has to be done by a worker at the store applying a sticker over the existing label.
Happens with markdowns too sometimes, someone working quickly making mistakes putting the wrong sticker on the wrong item or the wrong weight, etc. Can work in your favour.
How do you know if they apply the wrong sticker. Do you have like a scale, or do you check to see if there is a difference between first and second sticker.
@dichotomeme: The latter. Sometimes they may cover the old sticker's weight making it impractical
@dichotomeme: Just take a trolley-full of legs over to the scales in the fruit and veg section
OzBargain taking scales to the shops.
Can you put this in the freezer for use at another time?
yes
Anyone have any go-to slow cook suggestions? Last lamb season someone posted a ripper garlic, rosemary & butter do.
It is hard to go wrong with a leg, as long as you get the right amount of cooking. Always use a roasting thermometer!
Woolworths has this for $10/kg on Wednesday
My tigers gonna love this deal thanks OP
Why do many deals exclude QLD, such as meat and wine?
shows as $12 kg in ACT.
changed locations to different store and now $8.
da fuq, double the price in QLD :_(
$15/kg is the full price on the shelf under the special promo and on the lamb label underneath the repriced sticker. Just some States have had this down to various promo prices with the lamb market pricing, $12, $10 and now $8.
Not sure why QLD get screwed… I would've figured pretty decent sized sheep stations in QLD. Maybe they've had a bad season?
Coles that why i shop at ALDI in Townville north Queensland
