  • Does anyone know what the black sliding part on the lid is for?

  • +1

Any thoughts on this one versus the one currently being sold at aldi?

    • +7

      They both suck

    • +1

I really struggle to get my aldi one to seal properly.

    • This one is the easiest one I've used. Loved it so much I upgraded to the next version. Very easy to use.

  • +5

Not a bad little unit for the price.
I can't compare it to the ALDI one as I haven't tried both.

Dry goods are obviously much simpler to seal.

Wet goods are trickier but I find that making sure there's a good amount of spare plastic above the item, and putting the unit on the edge of a counter and holding the bag so it's below the unit helps keep liquid out of the vacuum and gets a nice seal.

  • This sucks better than the Aldi?

  • I have this one
I had the sunbeam one before. Which bropke down after little use just after warranty expired

The sliding cutter on the inkbird has broken.
The vacuum seal works ok but i wouldn't buy it again.
At this price its worth buying and see if vacuum sealing works for you

Great for sealing off small packets of dehydrated fruit for hiking etc

  • +1

I bought this. While it works ok I do wish I got one that has the roller in it.

Not a dealbreaker but it's more helpful than you'd think.

  • Seems all models are discounted ~30%.

Can anyone give insight on the differences between the INK-VS01 / INK-VS02 / INK-VS03. Is it worth spending a little more for higher models?

    Thanks.

    • +1

From what i can see, the VS-03 and VS-02 will let you vacuum seal any jug or container that can be vacuum sealed (the hose that comes with the machine is used for that) while the VS-01 is bog-standard like the Aldi/Kmart ones; the VS-02 and 03 also allow you to run consecutive vacuum sealing 'sessions' much more than the base one (all of them will get to a max point when the machine will then cool down before you can use it again).

  • We have this and it is great.

  • People who took that Vevor chamber vac deal a while back: https://imgur.com/gallery/solid-gold-homer-ZJDnc

These are great for keeping coffee beans as fresh as possible. Vac then freeze and you should get at least 3 months before beans vary significantly from fresh roast.

    • How much coffee do you seal up at a time to then freeze? Do you flatten the bag and beans out or does it not matter? And also how do you defrost for use? Very interested in this and keen to know more obviously.

      • +1

I'll usually split a 1kg pack into 3 or 4 depending on usage, holidays guests etc. If its just me for a week I might dump haIf a frozen block in the hopper and reseal and revac. I try and do this fairly promptly to avoid condensation.

If you get a good seal it will suck all the air out and end result is a solid block with no flex or air pockets. No need to prepare it in anyway.

I don't bother with defrosting, the grinder takes care of that IME!

While it tastes "almost" the same a couple of changes are evident, The beans dont stay at their peak as long. Some aging even in the freezer has occurred. Another change and this is more evident the longer they've been in the freezer is I need to use a finer grind setting to get the same extraction time I would with fresh beans.

I'm not a total coffee geek anymore and primarily drink milk based shots but I use to roast my own beans and experiment a lot with blends. If espresso is your thing you might notice differences I don't.

        • @mauricem Cheers dude. Im doing 60g of coffee at a time for batch brews. Currently ordering 1-2kg runs at a time. In reading what you shared, i will most likely divide into 60g bags, seal and then freeze. When I need to brew, just dump into grinder directly, and then brew as per usual. Thanks again.

  • Does anyone have any advice on using these bags to sous vide? I need a reason to justify buying one other than just keeping food fresh 😁

    • +1

We've done it - works perfectly.

      • Did you use a Sous vide device, or just controlled the temperature on the stovetop manually?

        • +1

We use an Inkbird Sous Vide thing yeah.
We got it in a bundle with this vacuum sealer, for about $100 on eBay a couple of years ago.

    • +1

We bought one of these purely for the sous vide. Tried the bag displacement thing and all I got was a waterlogged steak lol

  • I remember buying a similar one to this thinking wow I can do so much with it! I used it twice.

  • +1

I use mine more than once a week. I buy steaks in rolls and cut to size, same with beef ribs, mince and other meats. Great for long term storage for coffee beans and other stuff. I still have a steak in the freezer that's over 6 months without any freezer burn or any signs of losing it's vacuum. Mine still has a functioning cutter, although one side is losing it's edge in my opinion. Not a bad buy for me.

  • What us the best source to buy refills?

  • Anybody aware of more eco friendly bags/plastic for these sealers? (For both storage and sous vide!)
