I always buy an EV than ICE..EVs are the future of car's
Hope you charge it in the garage under your house 😜
A lifetime of leaded petrol use folks.
Just google it, then read ALL the articles, not just the ones that backup any bias you have, then make an 'true' informed decision - thats the best thing to do in ALL 'news'
If the people you get news from regular state a one sided belief, then time to move on to another source.
I have passed many a vehicle fire, never seen an EV fire however.https://www.mynrma.com.au/electric-vehicles/basics/understan…

I was a john cadogan fan, but now I skip the obvious clickbait stuff and watch his 'reviews' more.Cadogan has a good level of expertise in very particular fields, but he's rabidly anti-EV and his reporting on EV-related matters has proven utterly unreliable. I refuse to watch his videos any more, because he's clearly unable to be objective.
I have passed many a vehicle fire, never seen an EV fire however.
Very few Australians have seen an EV. The total number of EV fires in Australia's history is still in single digits, and that includes a couple that were deliberately lit, or were in buildings that were already on fire. At last count, I believe we've have a total of 3 fires that can actually blamed on the EV itself - one that caught fire after a major collision, one where road debris was flicked up and pierced the battery's armour, and one that caught fire while charging for unknown reasons.
I seem to recall an article about one of the first EVs that caught fire - it was trucked around the country so more firefighters had a chance to look at it closely and practice on it - none of them had ever seen a proper EV fire before and they needed some experience. That's a good thing, given there are over 200,000 of them on our roads.
I like how the anti EV pundits (Sky News, MGuy, Cadogan) are spinning conspiracy theories about this incident. The earliest eye witness reports stated a Tesla caused the fire, but officially from police the statement is the matter is under investigation.
Did the witness literally see a Tesla burst into flames and then other cars catch fire next to it? Or just see a Tesla on fire and assume that's the car that obviously must have started the entire fire? Anti EV shock jocks and Youtubers are running away with a conspiracy theory that government is suppressing the real origin because they want more EVs on the road.
I want to wait for the investigation to report back on the cause rather than put forward my own pet theory, and then run the conspiracy theory angle when information doesn't agree with my world view.
Did what you wrote actually make sense to you?
Do you also feel inserting the word "conspiracy" over and over makes your thoughts somehow rational?
Wait until theres a formal report seems to be the gist of the post. Sky News et al jumped on someone's story without facts - again. Maybe not a conspiracy, but definitly poor journalism.
That's not a fire. This is a fire!
Cadogan gets no money from EV's being sold. He sort of gets 2 or 3 bucks from VW for not rubbishing them anymore and petrol models sold thru him.
So he is just the joker like that Scotty Kilmer is in the US.
2 vacuum brains,
count Jay Leno, well he is old and his dementia hides behind his charisma.EV's sell a bit slower than anticipated. But for every dollar Musk makes, German car makers lose around 1.50 just pushing legacy junk.
Neither GM or Ford or even Rivian make money. Investors keep them afloat.Scotty actually shows how to fix things though
True! Once he watched the electrified garage he realised his old school skills still have some use.
Cadogan gets a new can of WD40 when something needs lubricating.Cadogan is a better shit talker I give them that
Due to the agenda (which I'm neither for nor against), the media and officials will blame anything but the EV, no matter what eye witnesses say

I'll stick to ice cars that have never caught on fire.
Never ever forever
That leaves pedalcars your only option.
Seriously, ev's do have a lower accidental fire risk.
Just gets firebrigades to learn how to deal with them.
Just makes you think who ultimately benefits from fake news
According to Forbes, there are 55 ICE car fires per billion miles traveled, compared to 5 EV fires per billion miles traveled. Now we’ll hear about age of cars and poor maintenance etc and ignore the statistics.
The good news is that EVs really don't need much maintenance, especially on the drivetrain which is a sealed unit.
Nor do EVs rely on super-hot metal parts, sparks, semi-contained explosions, highly volatile liquids, high pressure water/steam and poisonous gases that are all just part of the normal operation of an ICE. All these failure modes and sources of injury and death slowly being eliminated by a new generation of cars :-)
How did EV's become the new stomping ground issue for alt-right "critical thinkers"? Every thread on here about EV's has the same people scaremongering about EV's.
Its been boosted by the fossil fuel shills. Denigrate EVs to keep selling oil.
It's all part of the right-wing anti-woke campaign. Muscle car culture is heavily embedded in the psyche of the average Aussie bogan, and EVs are the antithesis of that traditional car culture.
Chinese batteries dont burn the new Blade and catl batteries are super safe and tesla should adopt them
This is a very good and up to date site for facts
As predicted, John Cadogan's video on this topic has turned out to be fear-mongering BS. He used a collection of unfounded rumours and some misguided cherry-picking from various articles to justify his regressive opinions.
The official investigation reveals that the cause of this fire was (drum roll…..) an old Mercedes. No EVs have been implicated in the fire's cause at all.
At last count, that's at least 3 videos about car fire disasters that "Auto Expert" Cadogan has blamed on EVs, only to be proven wrong later. He's clearly suffering from EVDS at this point.

Well, it's certainly made my mind up about buying an airport.
