The Ducks Have Returned :(

Further to a prior post, we have been free of ducks from our pool for several years now. A few weeks ago, we noticed that they have returned, and started aplashing around in the pool, leaving the usual filth around the pool, and no doubt in the pool.

We introduced Magnesium to the pool about the same time they 'moved on', but it was also during the really hot weather we experienced, where I assume nearby ponds/creeks etc dried up.

Now some have returned.

I read about a motion sensitive sprinkler system with quite a few positive reviews.

Any ideas, that are safe etc, that don't require a dog?

One thing I did not mention, is I have arthritis in my left hand, which is getting worse. I also had a car accident last year (I was not at fault)and I broke my right hand wrist, and a tendon was torn. This cost me a high paying job, as I rely on my right hand for typing, writing, using a mouse, plus i had constant medical appointments, rehab etc. As of today, it has now become a legal matter, for loss of income etc, so I may need to close this. I struggle to mow the lawn, use a hammer, use a screwdriver, use a pressure cleaner, let alone put the net cover on, as there like 40 pins that need to go in, then be tightened.

      • Surely after one season of cleaning out the duck poop you'll see the value in an easy roll out/pull out cover

        • I have arthritis in both hands, and i had wrist broken in a car accident last year. My tendon was also torn, and still recovering.

          Post updated.

        • Well look at that option, but as i have been posting, i have arthritis in both hands, plus an ongoing issue with my right wrist due to a car accident. I can't say too much, as the matter is now court related, as of today.

        We have a net

I told you last time to get a net. You got a net. It worked.

Then you stopped using it, and now you are complaining because the ducks are back.

What's the use of giving you advice if you stop following it and just go back to complaining again

        • Please see prev comment, or update in post.

I have issues with my hands due to arthritis and a car accident, and as it was the net was a pain. It was a child proof net. We can't clean the pool, or put the cleaner in with the net there. :)

    I also had this problem.
Ducks poo a lot, up to 15 times a day.
Duck poo can be very harmful to people and you can get very sick from it, be careful cleaning it up.
My fake owls did not scare them.
Mine picked one spot to poo, over and over again.
The only way to get rid of them is to scare them so they think the area is dangerous. Loud noise is good. If they come during the day you can do it yourself with clapping or yelling.
If like mine they come in the night several mouse traps in the area will do it, the wood ones are the best. Tie string to the bait part and tie them all together with tension, once tripped (you only need one to trigger) the traps will snap and the noise should scare them.
    Mine have not come back…..yet.
This is the cheapest way or you can spend money on a mini alarm system.
