  • Amazon getting even worse for rural areas. Can't even buy small items like airpods any more- "This item is only available from third-party sellers".

    • +3

Urban population in Australia was reported at 86.62 % in 2023,

    • Boycott them then…

How far out in the boonies do you live

Having used both, you couldn’t be more wrong

Average apple hater spewing garbage. Yes a bit overpriced, but have the best ecosystem integration you will find. Work well with great audio quality and pretty damn good battery life.

          • +4

@BatmanAU: It was a pretty dodgy attempt at sarcasm mate. Your comment deserves all the downvotes it gets.

      • +2

        Dubious about the KMart comment.

In saying that, I think wired IEMs are better for me personally because of their slimmer profile. I also find that there are no wireless IEMs on the market that fit my ears. I wish it wasn't the case, but I've tried 3 different wireless in-ears from different manufacturers including Apple and zero of them stay in and maintain a seal properly, even with third-party eartips. I've come to accept that I somehow possess mutant ears that reject wireless in-ears.

      • very wrong. the noise cancelling works great esp when you have hearing sensitivity (due to some condition) and tinnitus.
Also works really well with Apple TV when watching movies late a night
Surround sound is also really good
my only issue is the silicon tips. makes my ear really itchy.

        • Have you tried the third part foam tips? Apparently they’re much better for people with this issue

          • @linkindan: not yet. can you please link some recommendation? and are they as good in sealing sound?

            • +1

@Brakus: Not exactly a “recommendation” (because I’ve only used the ones that come with the AirPods), but these are the ones I’ve seen posted about the most

        • +1

I've used these (https://www.amazon.com.au/Comply-Apple-AirPods-Generation-La…) for a couple of years.

Very comfortable, but ridiculously expensive. But I'm still on my first pair (of three) from 2022.

      • Lolwot? Not sure if serious or flame bait.

    • It's not even just rural. My parents and friends live in a small city 40 mins south of Adelaide with 17,000 population and Amazon doesn't want a bar of them almost ever, including this. It's not rural whatsoever. I work there and almost all companies we deal with consider it metro for freight.

      • all of south australia is rural…just accept it

        • -2

Fun fact. If Adelaide was in the US, It'd be the 9th biggest city in US by population.

We're the same size as Dallas, Texas.

          • @BradH13: Only because US measures cities like most of the world whereas Aus/NZ measure by greater metro area. Adelaide metro being around 1.5 mill and Dallas/Fort Worth metro at 8 million. Tokyo's metro topping out the globe at 41 million.

  • Stacks with the $20 off + same day delivery for Prime members bringing it down to $277 (targeted) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/862647

  • I wonder how I can get this deal in NZ…

  • Pulled the trigger 2 weeks too early on the $325 price range deals. Amazon have lots of stackable giftcards/coupons so even better.

  • Great deal ! Thanks !!

Anyone has experience with both AirPods Pro (2nd gen) and the Beats Fit Pro? Could you chime in with how the beats compare?

The beats going for $249 currently on Amazon AU.

Apart from the tip the secures into the ear, anything notable or comparable to the AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) in terms of sound quality?

    • +2

I tried regular AirPods years ago and any jaw movement would squeeze them out of my ears. When beats fit pro released I went in store to try it and found it really uncomfortable in my ears. Don’t remember trying the sound quality.
In the same store visit the salesperson convinced me to try the AirPods Pro 2nd gen and I was shocked, had never felt such a good fit for my ear. I bought a pair and, after they were being borrowed increasingly by my wife, she ended up with a pair too.

    • I’ve used the BFP for the last few years and find them to be really good, and just bought the APP a few days ago.

      My initial impressions are:
      - sounds quality and noise cancelling is MUCH better on the AirPods
      - haven’t had any issues with the AirPods staying in my ears so far, but the stems sometimes catch on bike helmet straps and jackets when I’m taking them off. You need to twist them so the stems are pointing towards your mouth.
      - case on AirPods is much smaller and has a stronger closing mechanism.
      - case on AirPods has a speaker, findmy capability, and wireless charging, and can be seen by the iPhones battery widget while the case is closed, and so can the AirPods themselves (beats only show when case is open or earbuds are in use). Beats has none of these.
      - extra features are available on APP like Adaptive Noise Cancelling and Conversational Awareness.
      - controls on AirPods are a little more fiddly at first, but having volune control is a bonus over beats.
      - new Siri controls for AirPods coming in iOS18 (cancel calls by shaking your head etc), not on beats
      - I found I had to be sure the beats were seated correctly in the case or they wouldn’t charge, doesn’t seem as much a problem with the airpods

Based on my short experience, I’m much happier with the AirPods Pro - the features and general sound experience are noticeably better in my opinion.

Just got mine for $287 from big w with the $10 sign up coupon despite the coupon saying it would not be valid with Apple products.

    • +1

Thanks for the tip! Have just done this as well.

These should be around 200$ now seeing what similar products are selling, not every apple product should keep a premium price..
Especially apple vr, it’s actually not all that hyped up to be, open your mind guys

  • Not negging, buy what you want but I just can't see how earbuds can be actually worth $300.

I usually find the latest 5 star earbuds from scarbir.com for like $20-$30.

    • +1

I don’t use wireless headphones, but I can definitely say there can be a huge difference in quality between IEMs.

In terms of frequency response and transparency there’s a massive difference in wired IEMs up to around $150-200. My $60 Etymotic MK5 IEMs are good for their price, but they sound anaemic when compared to their bigger brother, the ER2XR ($160). It was a huge upgrade. But the ER4XR (at $400) is only a marginal step up (or maybe sideways) from there.

With wireless IEMs, I’m sure it’s the same story, but with the baseline price set higher.

    Now $294.99 lol

  • Now $294.00 lol

  • Thanks OP. Grabbed a pair to replace my original gen 1 AirPods.
