Think about the logical and philosophical implications of driving a multiple ton vehicle that transports you, your passengers and your cargo. Driving provides meaning to people’s lives, enjoyment to some but also makes people responsible for the lives of their passengers and any people or property they may damage by crashing.
Automated cars mean that you trust the vehicle 100% to not crash, ever. Not to mention not to break road rules like speeding. It’s totally not happening people.

I agree with this, but we need to make sure that automated cars are 100% safe for use, especially with other humans driving on the road.
I may not be as obsessed as others when it comes to real driving on the road (largely because cars are expensive now, and simulation racing has gotten major support from car manufacturers for accurate modeling of the cars and their accompanying physics), but people do drive cars for various reasons.
Just because YOU don’t get the obsession with driving DOESN’T mean that everyone else should follow what you say.
Also, it’s unlucky when the leader in autonomous driving turns out to be a schlocky right-wing hack with a saviour complex. I’m hoping either a decent car manufacturer or the open-source community can make an alternative for self driving.

They are kind of funny because it's all acting bit presented as reality, except what makes it really funny is that we all know by now that Jeremy is actually a bastard in real life, he isn't pretending to be mean spirited and bone headed, he actually is like that irl. And that's funny. They are usually playing with cool or interesting cars, or they make them seem interesting at least, so it all ties together. Everyone knows that Jeremy is a jerk so no one really gets hurt, on camera at least. Drunkenly punching your producer at 3am because the chef at the hotel went home is the kind of guy he is off camera. That's not funny. But him getting fired from the BBC over acting like an untouchable diva is funny.
Tldr: presenter is a jerk on and off screen and somehow that equals "funny" "entertainment"
