$2.5k? I'm a little out of touch with robot vacuums…why are these so expensive now? Are they doing the same thing as Nvidia and adding $400 for each new generation?

    • +2

It's exactly that, every new model comes out several hundred more than the old one it replaced

I was ready for the ring around for Goodguys stores to price match the Commercial website which was $2198 from memory.
First store - they were happy to do it for $2100 with 3 yr GG warranty thing.
Just ring a few stores and someone will be happy to do it

    • Wow, they offered to beat their own commercial website price? You might have gotten lucky. I’m expecting to get disappointed when I give them a call

      • The good guys Alexandria usually happy to give even more discounts. While other don't even bother to try…

    • I tried calling my local GG just now, they swore $2300 was an EOFY special and they couldn’t do better than $2600 today. Is there really that much variation store to store?

    • I followed @wazza23's advice and got the same deal - thanks mate! Had to call a few different stores here (in QLD), but one was happy to do it. Looks like they could see and confirm someone else had managed that deal.

    • What is the current price at TGG Commercial?

  • +6

Wow that's basically 2 years of me getting a cleaner once a fortnight

    • +2

And they'll clean your entire house, not just floors

    • +1

You pay your cleaners $50 a visit? Are you in an apartment or something. That's pretty cheap.

      • $60 for 2 hrs a fn and no 4 bedroom house with 2 adults who don't make alot of mess

        • +1

Damn that's cheap. I'm paying 100 for 2 hours. Hold onto whoever you got!

        • +1

That's the catch.. Every 2 weeks… while this robot can do every day… Even when you have messy kids and pets….

People don't know how useful robot vacum until they bought one…

But still 2000 bux is to much for robot vacuum.

          • @Anubizz: Considering we don't make much mess we don't need to vacuum every day

The reviews mostly all say the Dreame x40 ultra is better than the MaxV not to mention cheaper here in Australia. If you're in the marker for top of the line robot vac, I would go with the Dreame.

I love my s7 that cost me $400ish but I can’t understand why you would pay $2.5k for a vacuum , unless it can also get behind open doors, put the seats on the table, lift up my bin and clothes basket then replace it and ensure no cables are on the ground

    • +3

I'd spend 2.5k on one if it had a variable suction nozzle that can reach waist height

    • I also have an S7, which I purchased from Harvey Norman for $1200 with financing. It integrates well with Home Assistant and performs its job effectively. However, I find the new models, which come with a dock that washes the mop and empties the dustbin, quite tempting. Initially, I ordered an S7 with a dock, but I realized the dock only handled dust and not the mop, so I ended up returning it.

Three years ago, I thought the price was quite steep, yet I still bought it. Nowadays, I see the newer models priced between $2,000 and $3,000, and people are buying them. I just can't make sense of it.

Don't count on Roborock to support their products, my S7 died out of warranty and they wanted to charge me $250 to fix it. I mentioned the ACL and ACCC stuff and they couldn't have given a shit. They said feel free to take legal action we won't touch it without you paying.

    • It died out of warranty and they want to charge you to fix it.. isn't that normal? Or are the manufacturers supposed to fix it for free for as long as you have it.

        https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/broken-but-out-of-warr…

It all depends on how expensive it is and what any reasonable person would expect an item to last for. If you bought a $200 robot vacuum sure 3 years is probably reasonable. a $1200 vacuum however should last longer than that.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/794583

        • That is not 100% correct. If price was the only determining factor then a 5 year Toyota warranty should mean a Ferrari has a 20 year warranty right?

          • +1

@MrMoo: Price is a part of it, it's a reasonable expectation. Would you be happy to buy a new OLED TV every other year if they kept dying? Of course not but if you kept having to replace an ALDI TV every few years it's not such a big deal. It's more top end vs budget line, and when i bought my S7 it was top of the line.

  • +1

That's fair. But I would also be surprised if anyone got free repair outside of warranty any brand.

Don't think it's dissimilar to buying a graphics card. Out of warranty and u hope for the best.

    • I've heard that Samsung have been pretty good in the past with out of warranty repairs, with TVs that is.

  • How does Ecovacs Deebot T30 Pro Omni compare to this. I am looking for a robot vacuum with good mop. Coming from Roborock v6 pure but mop is not good on that.

  • how can i get a price at $2100!

  • -1

Can someone give me a reason to spend an extra $2200 over the Lubluelu robots we have??

Lidar with room mapping, over 70mins vacuum time at strong setting with a mopping option. They have not skipped a beat and leave the floors spotless.

Does the extra buy me a robot that makes coffee, does the dishes and wash our clothes?? Perhaps what I don't know I don't miss, but I can't work it out, someone enlighten me.

    • Just don't buy it bro
