  • Forgot to grab some when shopping. Thanks for reminder. Grabbed a couple.

  • Now with extra seed oils !!

    • +1

Thankfully that's of no notable consequence to your health, compared to other oils.

Now what you're outing the mayonnaise on or in… That's making a difference to your health

I don't think you would say that if you understood the issue of a diet too high in omega 6. Understandable since if you google it all the top results are false information. They are all some variation of "canola is good for your heart! ❤️ 💙"

        • Do you have an example search phrase for one of these searches full of misinformation?

        • +3

Okay, so how is all the mainstream information false, yet you have the truth?

Even cheaper than Coles with S&S.

  • Boo no peri peri mayo

  • FYI was $2.7 via S&S in November 2023

It's interesting that Heinz sell both a "Garlic Aioli" and a "Garlic Lovers Aioli".

    • any idea how they are different to each other?

      • +1

Ingredients much the same, except garlic paste 3.1% vs 0.9% , and sodium is 40mg/100mL less in garlic lovers.

I tried Heinz SG tartare sauce. For my taste, It was greasy and more like cheap mayo than tartare sauce. I much prefer Masterfoods Tartare sauce, and their hot english mustard, even compared to 'boutique' brands.

    • yeah, i wasnt happy with their tartare sauce at all, didnt taste like any tartare sauce i had had before.

    • The masterfoods one is really good. It's what they used at multiple fish and chips shops and steakhouses I worked at when I was a student.

    • Maille & Beerenberg tartare are the best on the market. Masterfoods one is average. Praise is crap. Heinz is crap.

      • Where do you buy it? Not at Coles.

  • So is it actually good or is Heinz just trying to bullshit everyone with their product names?

    • Personally I quite like the Aioli ones, but never tried the others.

4.5% eggs in mayo ! Can anyone recommend mayo with higher percentage egg.

    • +1

just make it yourself, it's so easy.

      • Tried but it was an epic fail

        • mustard and eggs make it easy to emulsify the oil.

        • Do you have a stick mixer / immersion blender? Having one makes making mayonnaise fairly foolproof.

@JessC: Yes, I do and did use it.. I must have stuffed up the quantity of oil and egg white.

@Danger: Ah. The way I do it is to crack an egg, dash of salt, a tablespoon of an acid (apple cider vinegar or lemon juice), pour a small layer of canola oil, blend that, then gradually pour in more and more canola oil until my desired consistency. It should be runny at first, then start to thicken up until really thick as more oil is gradually added, then thin start to thin out. :)

  • Received mine today, the inside of the box looked like that "ectoplasm" scene outta South Park :(

At least refunds are painless with Bezos

  • I like the Heinz Burger Sauce. I will try to make it from scratch.

Really. I tried the Coles Burger Sauce and the Heinz back to back and the Coles was way better for me. Taste is obviously very subjective, but if you haven't tried the Coles version, I highly recommend it.

      • I tried both also. They are both very similar, mostly mustard pickles and mayo. The Heinz is a bit thicker and creamy. Plus msg.
