  • PLANT LIKE A PRO – Step, twist, pull and you’re ready to plant. Dig 2 and 1/8 inch diameter planting holes quickly, one after another, from a comfortable standing position. Soil gets stored in the tool as you work and empties by turning the tool upside down. Depth Rings allow you to consistently dig perfect planting holes at 2 inch, 4 inch and even 6 inch deep. Avoid digging in dry or overly saturated soil.

  • MULTI-USE GARDEN TOOL – Plant your garden favorites. Spring and fall bulbs, annuals, ground covers, vegetables and more. Makes a great lawn and sod plugger (Not Recommended for St. Augustine Grass), weeding tool, soil sample tool and drip-edge fertilizing tool.

  • TAKE THE PAIN OUT OF PLANTING – The ProPlugger 5-IN-1 Planting Tool allows you to work from a standing position, saving your back and knees. Comfortable, sturdy hand grips are helpful for seniors or those with mild arthritis.

  • MADE IN THE USA of durable all welded carbon steel.

I thought that was a pogo stick

    • For a second I thought it was a PCP pump

Bought one of these two years ago, when it was on sale for $59.

It's been sitting unused in the garage for two years now.

    • +2

Glad to know I'm not the only one.

    • So you buy bargains you don't use. It doesn't bode well!

    • Haha +1 here.

  • +1

    Worth it for 3 holes?

    • +4

Which one do you have in mind for the third?

    • No, get something like this with much more utility: https://www.amazon.com.au/Spear-Jackson-2154HK-JacksonSJ-215… This one is cheap, but the product (often called draining spade or a narrow shovel) has much more utility. A trenching shovel is slightly different (with straight edges), but might be a worthwhile search to see the options.

      • That looks like it will go deep, cheers! exactly what i need

I think this is more than enough for a small job?!

You don't need the ProPlugger unless you are a ProFarmer!

This tool is mainly for transplanting turf plugs. I have about 30m² of nice grass (Empire Zoysia). With this tool I plan on OzBargaining™ my way to a whole nice lawn.

        • I wouldn't recommend it for buffalo grass - it doesn't take a big enough bite to get a sufficient amount of root. Might be alright for something finer like couch.

  • I’ve asked this before but might see if anyone has any experience, this is way cheaper than a core aerator, can this be used for my clay backyard for aeration?

    • +1

This would be an inefficient way to core aerate on several fronts:
      1) the plugs are quite large in diameter compared to a hollow tine found on a manual or mechanical core aerator, so you'd have huge holes to re-fill in the lawn.
      2) The ProPlugger captures the plugs, rather than side-ejecting them. You'd have to unload the ProPlugger after 8 uses.

The cheap way: buy a Cyclone corer off Marketplace for $10, then ask a mate / DIY welding in some proper side-ejection hollow tines. $50 in and you're laughing (albeit with blisters on your hand if you go too hard).

Thanks heaps, I’m probably leaning towards getting the one mentioned below just to save the welding issues.

        • +1

Might not be the cheapest option, but if you value your time at all I'd highly recommend hiring a core aerator with a couple of neighbours, or getting someone in to do it for like $100 or so.

Last one cost me $75 when done with a neighbour, but YMMV.

No, this is far too big for aeration, the holes are over 60mm wide and a plugger are around 13mm. - This is the handcorer I use, https://www.lawnaddicts.com.au/product/all-tine-ator-12-7mm
