doesn't come with a cooler.
Cheap price on 7500F, may need a bios update to run in certain motherboards. *No built in GPU on this AM5 CPU
No idea how reputable this seller is.
But i ordered a Captain Jack sparrow costume in parts from 3 different generic no name sellers with no reviews and a low rating.
Super happy with what i got and delivery was only 2 weeks. Paid with PayPal to be extra safe so i can open a case with both aliexpress and paypal if i had any issues.

AUD price from Mastercard.

  • Thanks. Is this retailer reputable? I’ve been watching JS Computer Store who’ve been posted here a few times

    • +3

Probably will be cheaper at JS Computer Store which is also choice so I would wait to see.

  • +2

How do they get these cpus at much lower price in general? They're not made in China too

    • +8

I believe they are sold at a much cheaper price because they're sold as OEM trays, so it doesn't come in any fancy retail packaging or with a stealth wraith cooler. I may be wrong tho lol

      • +2

I think they are bulk sold to oem builders in china. So cheaper because its in china, its in bulk, and a better price since its not to a consumer. Then they might try to screw around with not paying tax.

        • yeah this is probably it, just means cheaper cpus for us:)

    • +6

Just like gray import mobile phones they sell for less overseas becsuse the avarage income of people who live there cant afford higher prices

      • Also these aren't selling through a physical retailer it's a massive dropshipper that buys them in bulk and all the various resellers just dropship it with a small margin on top. I tried to claim warranty on a phone and the seller was trying everything to avoid me sending it back to them since it was dropshipped. Thankfully we resolved the issue with some files he sent me.

In addition to the reasons mentioned by others, when manufacturers produce CPUs and GPUs, there is a certain percentage that have manufacturing defects, which reduces the overall yield. To mitigate this, designers often create CPUs and GPUs with the capability to disable certain parts as needed. For instance, an 8-core CPU with one defective core can be configured by turning off an additional core, allowing it to be sold as a fully functional 6-core CPU. This is why we see variants like 6, 8, 12, and 16-core Zen CPUs, which utilize a dual CCD design.

In this specific case, some CPU cores (one or two) and the integrated GPU (iGPU) were defective. Instead of discarding the entire chip, it can be repurposed and sold as a 6-core CPU without an iGPU. This approach helps recover some of the manufacturing costs while offering a good quality CPU at a competitive price, thus targeting budget-conscious customers. It's a win-win situation.

Based on reasoning above, I hope these are not "defective" cpu and they batch them together and bulk sell to China as lower specs cpu?

I'm not across cpu architecture but if say 8 core has 1 defect core and they disable 1 core and sell it as 6 core, wont the rest of the core more prone to defect?

        • +1

          Not at all.

        • +1

It would depend on the type of defect (ie contamination due to dust, photolithography misalignment due to a minor earthquake) and Im assuming that all chips that end up being sold have proper testing and validation performed so they can be assured of having a good long term usable life

In my (many) years of working in tech I can't recall ever having a CPU fail on me or where I work. Glad we don't have any current 13th or 14th gen CPU's from you know who…..

        • +3

He is talking about AMD reusing CPU's that were supposed to be 8 core and making them 6 cores.. NOTHING to do with the sellers

          • @vid_ghost: And how about the 7800X3D’s on AliExpress, what defects would they have if they’re already high end and cant really be repurposed for lower end?

      • +1

Where does it say this was a defective CPU that has been repurposed?

      • +2

This is called binning. It doesn't really have anything to do with why these chips in particular are cheap, it happens before the chips leave the factory.

For example, Ryzen 7500F, 7600 and 7600X are the same chips, but the cheaper ones have their iGPU disabled or clock speeds limited, either because the iGPU were faulty, or the CPU/iGPU couldn't hit the rated clock speed, or they are artificially limited as a pricing thing.

If chips weren't binned there would only be like 3 different CPU models per generation.

Yes, any CPU you buy might have parts disabled/limited because it didn't meet the specs for a better tier model, but it's wrong to say the CPU is 'defective'.

    • -4

      Old mining chips

      • No that would be the GPUs from brands like Jieshuo and others. In saying that my RTX 2080 Ti 22GB has been flawless for AI.

    • PC builders get them cheaper here too, by the tray. Through economies of scale they might get them slightly cheaper in China. Basically every boxed retail component is a ripoff for the consumer. Video cards are another example.

It's all made worse because we are already a rip off country.

    • -1

No one here actually knows. I'd guess considering these listing normally say 'having marks/scratches on the CPU is normal', I'd say they probably aren't new, but given the volume and consistency of how many they have available, it would seem difficult for them to meet demand with used models.

    • my guess is they are bottom of the binning cycle

  • -2

just overwrite the cpu identifier, profit

    • +6

What are you talking about? :) pretty sure CPUs cant be faked. Only a cheaper CPU that works on the socket with its aluminum heat spreader lable reprinted as soemthing better. Only thing is this is one of the Cheapeat AM5 CPU AMD Makes. So not sure what they would fake it with. Maybe a 8400G.. :)

  • +3

Wow, decent B650 (mATX even!) motherboards are $200+.

Am I out of touch, or is this normal? I recall $150 would get you a decent B450 mobo… or maybe my mind is hallucinating of the good old days.

    • +7

You are not out of touch, the older boards were way less expensive.

      • Yes confuses me when I see all the PC deals without wifi on here, feels like 8 years ago. Only the most budget mobos didn't have wifi

    • +2

AM5 needs better VRMs and more complex boards for PCIe 5.0.. that plus inflation and prices have gone up

      • The B650 doesn't supply proper PCIe 5.0 though does it? Only for m.2 drives, not the PCIe slot.

Although IMO the ASRock B650M PG Lightning is pretty good value, well built, well reviewed, lots of features. For $200 with wifi it makes a pretty good choice.

    • +1

Got a b550m for roughly $160 last year, and comparing that to a B650M, its understandable it would be over 200 bucks. Correct me if im wrong, but b550(m also) support AM4 and DDR4 while the B650 supports AM5 and DDR5, and these are just 2 differences that I would completely understand the increased price for.

Though most B650M motherboards can be bought for less than 200 bucks right now, so…

  • +2

been running a ryzen 7 7700 that i got off aliexpress, actually got 5 or so off there, good price.

  • +1

Seems like a pretty good bang for buck CPU no? Especially considering 9000 series is hot garbage

  • I got this cpu last sale for like $174 and it's an amazing cpu, I cant even really tell the difference between it and my 7900.

  • +1

New build, Waiting for 9800x3d but in the meantime I might buy this and sell it when 3ds come out. Was going to buy the 9700x but that's just a Fckn waste of money. It's looking like the 9800x3d won't be much faster than the 7800x3d, if that's the case what a Fckn disaster.

    • +1

      9800x3d + 5 to 15% but 30% more $ vs 7800X3D .. my guess :)

  • why is there no one selling 7700X on AliExpress?

    • +1

Most likely the stock are all OEM trays CPUs, and OEMs tend to prefer the non-X variants due to their lower TDP.

Plently of 7700's available at a reasonable price though, which is basically the same CPU.

    • +2

Try 7700 without X. The same performance, lower price.

  • This one should be a similar price with faster Choice shipping plus cashback eligibility (OP's link doesn't).

    • JS-Computer Store has sold this CPU at around $180 previously but yes even at 190 it looks to be more reputable store and with maybe faster delivery vs the on in this link.

      • +1

We'll see what the true price is when the sale starts. The predicted sale price isn't always accurate. Especially if you get.hit by the GST bug.

  • +1

Normal price from China. AMD CPUs are much cheaper in China. For your reference, Ryzen 7700(X) is around only AU$280 in China while it is AU$480 in Australia.

    • +1

AU$280 is still lots of peoples weekly wage in China :)

  • Just bought 7700 for $261 delivered with coupon $30 off AUS230. Paid for gst, very happy.

    • +1

      link to 7700 deal?

Prices are going up because lots of people buying. I'm assuming. $275 now

I see another one for $270 on aliexpress.

      • I'm going to sell it when the 9800x3d comes out. This is only a temporary cpu, I can't wait any longer need it running.

  • Got a 7700 for $260. Thanks OP! Anyone know of a decent value 64gb 2x32gb 6000mhz ram Kit? Does CL30,32,34 matter if the plan is to slot in a 9800x3d in 18-24 months? Know sweet spot for Zen 4 was 6000 CL30 but unsure if this changes with 8000 + ram support / Zen 5.
