Kicking off on August 19 at 5pm AEST is the next AliExpress Sale and in addition to the coupons codes in AUD are these coupon codes in USD. These coupons are good for those who prefer paying in USD with their currency conversion free cards, as you'll often get a better rate than AliExpress' AUD rate. Plus you can make more orders now that there's even more coupon codes available.

These coupons should apply on pretty much anything, as long as the minimum spend is met and your AliExpress currency is set to USD. The coupons have a limited number of redemptions with the larger discounts often going first. Now is a good time to get your cart loaded and ready.

If you want to be notified of future AliExpress coupon deals you can subscribe to the "AliExpress Sale" tag here.

Important: Coupons are 1 per account, do not stack with the new user 'Welcome Offer", "Daily Deals (Super Deals)" and minimum spend excludes GST and shipping

How to get the correct AU$ price with PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

  • Nice timing, thanks OP šŸ˜Š

  • @Clear The title and code table don't match!

    • I think they've gone and punched in the rough AUD figures accidentally?

      • Yep forgot to change that column.

  • +1

the code works even if you pa in aud (at whatever conversion alipexpress applies)

anyone game enough for a US$499 spend on Aliexpress?

    • +6

That would be me. I checked my transactions and I've already spent US$2885.34 (~A$4387.68) this year across ~100 orders.

      • +2

anyone game enough for a US$499 spend on Aliexpress in a single transaction with a single vendor?

        • got 3x retroid pocket 4 pros few months ago.

        • Yes, several times, as always check the store rating and reviews firstly for confidence. One streamer for $1400 and a 8945HS NUC for gaming for $600. Both faultless transactions, and confidence in returns of faulty

          • @Stuj: Which streamer was that?

            • @abadacus: Eversolo A6, over a year ago and still going strong

    • +1

Why not, you have Ali plus (if used) PayPal if any issue/s arise. I had a counterfeit item advertised as a branded unit, I argued & supplied my images, Ali sided with me & I was refunded. That was the most expensive item, I've had issues with cheaper items not arriving or not as described & Ali sided with me in the end. So far, so good.

I was a bit nervous spending $1100 on a Vivo X100 Pro earlier this year. Thankfully, it arrived perfectly fine and still works great. Always check the store rating.

      • was it CN ROM? did the google services/wallet work?

        • Yes, CN rom. It gets Android software updates quite regularly, latest one was a few weeks ago. Google Services work perfectly. Have never used the wallet, so can't test it for you. Also, most users mention that Android Auto doesn't work for whatever reason, but I dont use Android Auto.

  • Damn. Iā€™m by addicted now. Buying all sorts of bits and bobs.

  • You may have problems if you want spare parts to repair phones; Aliexpress refunded my phone replacement screen, camera lens cover and phone glue. Custom restrictions or unable to deliver to my address was the reason listed. Now I have bunch of tools but no spare parts. :(

  • Cheers: AUS230 worked for me.

It said BSAF20 was not for my region, and wouldn't let me use 149BS20 (forget the reason). YMMV

    • Thanks. Updated.

    • +1

Opposite for me, BSAF20 works but AUS230 doesn't

      • That is strange!

@Clear maybe reinstate those other codes in case they work for others!

Maybe it was because the codes weren't activated straight away? (I tried BSA and 149 codes first, almost immediately after 5pm. I tried AU last, and it went through. Maybe ldd-mn tried in the reverse order?)

        Edit: Nah, I'm still getting:
BSAF20: "Sorry, this coupon code is not currently applicable in your country or region"
149BS20: "This coupon code is for single use only and can't be used here" for 149".

I just tried all codes (at all discount levels), and yeah: only the AU codes work for me. All the other codes which have been removed give me one of those errors.

  • Thanks working!

  • +1

AUS230 doesn't work for me. It says "This coupon code is for single use only and can't be used here" meaning targetted??

    • Is your currency USD?

      • Yes. Didn't work either

        • Just a normal product or does it have Limited Deal, Big Save or similar? Have you ordered on AliExpress before?

  • Would these apply to bundle deals (i.e buy 10 items or less for free shipping)?

  • Ty OP. Happy with the Viofo Mini 2 I got for $140 :)

  • Just my persional experience with the

How to get the correct AU$ price with PayPal

    notes.

I've checked this a few times, and have even purchased the same item in different ways to see what I have ultimately been charged.

I find that setting the website currency to either USD or AUD and paying in the matching currency makes negligible difference. A few cents difference on your bank statement after everything goes through.

This has been the case with a couple of different cards. Both were 'no international fee' cards. If you do all the steps listed in the post, or you just leave everything in AUD, the end result has been bugger all difference.

I'm happy to be shown evidence otherwise, but in my experience it isn't worth the hassle and I just leave everything in AUD so I'm not continually doing mental conversions back to AUD during the purchasing process.

    • +1

Both were 'no international fee' cards.

You're doing it right so there's no need to overthink it. Of course the bigger the spend the more you'd get screwed over if you decided to set Ali to USD and had PayPal instead of the card do the conversion.

At the same time AliExpress have an AU team now so the website exchange rate is likely more accurate.

      • I tried paying last night in USD using Paypal who's conversion rate which was 1AUD=0.64USD vs the Visa rate which was 0.67USD.

        • Yep it adds up. If you spent US$100 the difference would be about A$7.

    • Or you can lose most of your discounts by mistaking to change the payment method and having it set to a card WITH international fees FML….

  • Tks just done buying my items I preloaded during the weekend, some changes made this arvo.
AUS230 does work for me, did my purchase on PC.

  • What's Aliexpress free returns situation like?

Is it free postage or do you need to pay for local shipping?

    • In my experience, it's exactly what it sounds like. Postage and return label provided by AliExpress. Didn't have to pay a cent.

YMMV, make sure the listing clearly says 'free returns'

  • If anyone has made purchases over AUD$1000, you share what happens when it trys to clear custom?

  • How much in general PayPal exchange rate rips you off rate wise compare to official Mastercard

    • Just above there was a 3c difference to the dollar. Obviously if your card isn't international transaction fee free you'll get slapped with another charge ontop. My Coles Rewards mastercard I was previously using for overseas transactions now slaps 3% ontop.

      • Ok so obviously best to avoid PayPal rates if your Card issuer has no international fees on top. But Paypal rate is always lower than official rate which I have to say they are further making money out of you with the difference. Good call on using Card's rate rather than Paypal. I didn't think the difference is much but when you spend $100 or so it makes a difference

        • Use PayPal, but change it so it charges USD instead.

  • +2

New codes to add to the list

    • AUS293 - US$3 off US$29 Spend.
    • AUS324 - US$30 off US$209 Spend.
  • my last order has been stuck on 'to ship' for a week, two of the items expired and I got refunded but I've never had this happen to any previous orders before.

Should I make a new account?

  • Anyone elses orders start getting bulk refunded?

I get this feeling a lot of the stores chose to not fulfill the order as they'd have been at a loss, kind of like eBay plus sales.

Ali moves these refunded orders to the "processed" section of orders and gives you the ability to add them back to cart. I needed some of the items cancelled but I'm skeptical of adding them back from the same store.

Not sure where the issue was
