Damn, was writing a whole spiel on this deal while you posted this :)

Anyway, heres my words for others benefit

Amazon currently have a 25% discount code applicable to their range of TP-Link FESTA range items

The TP-Link Festa range/details on each item can be seen here
    https://www.tp-link.com/au/business-networking/all-soho/

This is a "new" range from TP-Link that seems to be mostly a selected sub-set of rebadged Omada hardware, and then firmware limited to their free online cloud controller.
Market its aimed at falls between the upper 'Omada' range and the lower 'consumer' range, aiming at their 'prosumer' or 'SOHO' market.
Offers free cloud management (for however long that lasts, the box my AP came in said for life ), via their cloud "Centralised Management" (via app or web site, web site is more featured)

eg some prices on some of the units
    * Festa FR205 Gigabit VPN Router $74.95 ($59.40 when bought another item from the 15% off list)
    * Festa FS308GP 8 Port Gigibait Switch (4 Port POE+) $119.25 ($95.40 when bought with another item from the 15% off list)
    * Festa FS318GP 18 Port Gigiabit Switch (16 Port POE+) $261.75 ($209.40 when bought with another item from the 15% off list)
    * Festa F65 AX3000 Ceiling Mount WiFi 6 Access Point $134.25 ($107.40 when bought with another item from the 15% off list)
    * Festa F65 AX3000 Wall Plate WiFi 6 Access Point $104.25 ($83.40 when bought with another item from the 15% off list)

    eg.
FR205 + F65 Ceiling (and then either powering the AP with the supplied power supply, or adding in a seperate POE+ injector) for ~$167
FR205 + F65 Wall (and then either powering the AP with the supplied power supply, or adding in a seperate POE+ injector) for ~$143

Excellent value for a home NBN/Wifi solution for that $

I've had a wifi ap (F65) for a month or so, replacing an old Ubiquiti AP and have had no issues, so now replacing my Ubiquiti Edge Router with the VPN Router.

Thanks for the info. Looks like it’s all gigabit? No 2.5Gb?

      • I don't believe any of the Festa range is 2.5Gb. aimed at prosumer(home)/small business , where I assume the cost to performance ratio makes 2.5Gb unnecessary or overly costly.

    • Is there much point to get the FR205 router when I already have an Edgerouter X (apart from the obvious management convenience?)

      • That's the combo I swapped.
It's a mix of trying something new, having single 'family' solution, easier config interface , and built in VPN to trial (currently using seperate wire guard pi which will likely stay anyway)

I doubt I'll see any performance diff, but I've had an edgerouter X for ages, so wanted to try something better

        • yeah I am thinking the same re 'family friendly' solution. But I am just a bit concerned about router management via cloud amidst all the cloud leaks/hacks/vulnerabilities.

          • @OldSchoolHarry: its the same cloud controller they offer on their pro 'omada' range, and similar to what Ubiquiti offers as their cloud hosted controller.

            • @SBOB: Yeah I get that… it's just the nature of cloud management in general that I need to get used to I guess.
Edit: Just gonna send it for a full Festa setup!

Just watch out for the FS318G (18 port managed switch). Looks like it’s incorrectly labelled as PoE and a few comments have indicated buyers have been caught out. Need the FS318GP

    • Yep, the filter selection is right but the product description header incorrectly has the same as the "P" model re Poe+

  • Thanks fellas. I have been thinking about going Ubiquiti for last couple of years but could never justify the cost. I think I might pull the trigger on couple of Festa APs and POE switch and call it a day.
Ceiling AP + Wall AP + 8 port POE switch = $286 which is about what a single WAP from Ubiquiti costs. Granted this Festa range is somewhat basic compared to Ubi but is should still suffice 99% home users it seems.

    • The majority of the management interface is pretty identical to ubiquiti (at least when I setup the Festa AP, was pretty similar to the ubiquiti AP setup interface I replaced, just then management is now cloud based rather than a docket vm I was previously hosting internally )

There's not much difference for a normal home or small business size setup.

So update from me - I ordered the FR205 and FS318GP - thinking it will work with my Omada APs I have as they are listed on this page - https://www.tp-link.com/id/blog/1556/festa-free-cloud-contro… - but so far I have not been able to add the Omada APs to the Festa cloud controller. I have 1Gb FTTP and with my previous gigabit switch/router combo I could only reach about 700Mbps but with the FR205 I`m hitting over 900Mbps and even reached 1Gbps speedtest.

but so far I have not been able to add the Omada APs to the Festa cloud controller.

might be country dependent where they do or dont offer certain hardware options.
eg that blog post is Indonesia based

    • Check Omada hardware version. hardware version may be older.
