Google Pixel 9 Pro or Pro XL

What is a best deal for purchasing Google pixel 9 pro or pro XL ? considering you have 7 pro already.

The 9 Pro isn't available for preorder yet so there's no deals to compare the XL with. I have a 7 Pro too and wanted the 9 Pro but I want to jump onto the Harvey Norman Optus XL pre-order deal, it seems pretty good value and I'm worried it won't be available for the Pro.

The phones are basically the same, just different sizes. Until we know the 9 Pro deals it's hard to say what is gonna be better value.

Have you experienced the calls to Pixels going straight to Messages and texts not received promptly then received in batches? So called fixes mean turning off features which is rediculous And they don't work for long if at all. Been ongoing since March. Sent back my Pixel 8a.

No. Sounds like a carrier issue.

        • Definitely not carrier issue. Google has dozens of reports.

@wazbiz: "dozens of reports" for a series of phones that has sold tens of millions

            LOL

            • @coffeeinmyveins: That makes me feel a lot better. Why should I complain when there are millions satisfied. They recognised the issue. I returned it and got a refund.

      • I have the call going straight to voice message issue on my Pixel 8. I have to text the person to call me usually.

        • My partner had the same issues (calls not coming through) with her 6pro until she replaced her Telstra sim with Amaysim.

          • @maiuspala: I'm glad that worked for her. I'm with Amaysim. It's not a receiving issue for me. It's calling out.

  • Too hard to compare deals when release date it staggered. No doubt the Pro 9 deals will happen when the Pro 9 XL ones expire.

  • Specs don't seem much different from 7 to 9. What are you gaining? Do you need the newer SoC for AI features? Brighter screen for outdoor use?

XL is 221g. I remember when it was an embarrassment to have a phone heavier than 100g.

My first phone was too heavy for a pocket, so it had a case that clipped off a belt, as was the fashion in 1999. Googling … that phone was 250g. We are getting very close!

    • Yeah you probably had a massive battery pack for that Ericsson

      • Nokia 1610. 600mAh battery that lasted a few days, I think. Not a huge part of the weight.

Most awesome phone I ever owned was the Ericsson T28. 83g, Li-po battery. Didn't last for as many days, but you could swap it in a few seconds.

Of course back then, a phone was just a phone. You'd think by now a smart-watch would be a replacement. But they all suck as phones. Maybe the Apple watch, combined with earbuds is OK.

        • Yes you should probably try that combo.

  • I'm going to get the regular Pixel 9. Waiting for a free pixel 3 watch deal tho

What makes you think that will happen? Genuinely curious.

  • What's the best deal on a Pixel Pro 9 XL right now? (when buying outright)

I would check marketplace. Im trying to sell my brand new unit, but there are quite a few that are selling theirs for so much cheaper in Sydney.

      • Why are people trying to sell theirs already?

I guess people have different reasons. I decided I would like to buy a Vivo X Fold 3 Pro instead.
