Amazon Shipping Workaround

As some of you may be aware there was a workaround when you live just outside the delivery area for heavy items from Amazon - for me being both baby wipes and pepsi max.

The workaround was:

  • Set address to somewhere inside metro
  • Proceed to ordering screen
  • Change address to actual address before confirming order

This has worked for me for awhile, with the main upkeep being to replace the order when they periodically cancel it.

It seems this loophole has now been closed, has anybody had success working around it?

For reference I live maybe 5km outside of the accepted area, and have no issues to date with heavy items being delivered to my home.

has anybody had success working around it?

    Move house?

Parcel locker but probably won't work for super bulky items.

Is parcelpoint an option for you?

I can see another post from the OP shortly.

"Amazon cancelled my account and I don't know why. I can't log into my account to send a message."

  • I mean if it’s significantly cheaper and only 5km away, just get it delivered to an Amazon locker and drive to pick it up? Not worth it though if not cheaper when factoring in time and driving.

Why are people crucifying OP for using his Prime membership he paid for?

    • Guess due to it not impacting them (yet). Plus how dare by one outside of a metro area use a service that we’ve paid for!

You can very much believe this is the start for Amazon to begin to restrict any area that’s outside of their own delivery network.

It’s the lack of transparency and communication from Amazon which annoys me the most with this.

The inconsistency is strange as well, I could order chicken Twisties delivered to my house without issue, but couldn’t with the cheese Twisties? Figure that out.

First OP aware of the issue and taking advantage with a loophole.

And you can't just pay the membership fee and ignore the terms of use, there are tons of restrictions there.

  • My original S&S was active for almost years for the exact same 2 products - neither will deliver to Aus Post parcel lockers or Amazon hubs.

I was just hoping some other person had found a new way to make it work, but looks like I will be including these things back in my weekly shop.

I'm in the same boat. We're now no longer able to S&S nappies and wipes, plus a lot of other things to our area. The nappies were way cheaper than anywhere else. And we were getting good value out of our prime subscription. Now there's really no point in paying for prime.

    • You still get the benefit of ad-infested prime video.

I have just cancelled my prime because of this issue and suggest others do the same. I used the chat to request a refund as i just renewed my yearly sub right before they blocked the "workaround". The fact they removed benefits of the membership without any warning or explanation was the deciding factor for me.
Almost anything sold by amazon that i can still purchase, pretty much ships once and then is no longer available for me to purchase again.

  • it's ridiculous really. i can understand if they want to block bulky/heavy items, but it's books, toothbrush heads, cleaning products and other general household stuff.

spent an hour on chat with them yesterday and all they kept saying was for me to try another address… yeah, righto.

    • Try another address? What an awful solution. So far ai haven't been had my address blocked but I have noticed shipping now takes 7 days.
