AOC I2757FH 27" IPS Screen $295 Pickup, at Auburn PC DIY

110

Just pickuped one of this today, would like to share with ozbargainer for this.

It's the best monitor for under $300! If you are looking for 27", this one is much better value compare with others marked $400-$600.

First time for me to use a IPS screen, I am supprise it's obviously better than TN panel. This monitor is the best choice for muli-media purpose like video/photo viewing, if you have room for 27" screen. Don't worry about the 1080p intead of 1440p, you won't see the different except you sit really close to the screen. For gamer 5ms response time is just acceptable, with FPS game better go for 2ms. Never use a 120mhz screen but when viewing HD movie, this one look better than my 46" Sony 3D TV. AOC's quality is good but you might need to check their dead pixel policy that suit you.

Please know that AOC claims this is a boarderless screen which is not ture, this screen does has a 1cm edge. And you might need a DVI to HDMI cable/adapter for DVI connection.

Your Dell is light years better than this monitor.
      You made the right purchase.

      • A light year is a long way. Are you sure you're not exaggerating?

        • +1

          I agree with him… no exaggeration there…

On a 27" monitor? I'm sorry, but that's silly. You would see the difference, otherwise there'd be no benefit to 2560 x 1440…
Regardless, I'd prefer to go with Dell, Samsung or LG, myself.

Agreed, there is a huge difference. Is it worth an extra ~$250? To me yes, up to the buyer though

    • Only if you're using more than 1080p? Like for watching movies or gaming (non-FPS like OP says) this would be fine right?

Since the monitor is bigger, the pixel density is lower than, say, a 24" monitor (since the same amount of pixels have to cover a larger area). Therefore, the pixels are much more noticeable - in pretty much everything. It's not really a matter of what the display is being used for; the physical size of the pixels and monitor make the pixels easier to see.

It's up to you if you can stand noticeable pixels, and if this nuisance will justify a more expensive purchase (for me, it would).

      • For some RTS/TBS games (and for many other games in general), you also get a wider field of view, depending on the game's support for higher resolutions. If the field of view isn't bigger, you can potentially still see more of the map relative to the game's UI. You'll be able to zoom out more in games and see more things in detail.

Yes, 1080p is fine, but when you go 1440p, 1080p feels very substandard after a (short) while.

      • The other important thing to remember is viewing distance. Unlike a TV of the same size where the natural viewing distance is gonna be 2-3m, you're naturally going to be sitting closer to a monitor on your desktop, therefore potentially sub-1m range.

Where you probably wouldn't see a difference on the TV in this instance; or even on a much smaller screen at close range for that matter; you would most certainly notice it on a 27" desktop monitor at normal viewing range.

Agreed, I think the Shimians on eBay for $28x - $3xx is bargain much (IPS 2560x1440@97Hz), shipped directly from Korea, and they use FEDEX, got mine in 3 business days.

      • That Shimian says 110V at the top of the page.

AFAIK they use switchmode PSUs much like laptops…this means they'll run at anything from 100-250v ac without a problem. :)

    • I agree with others here and have to disagree with leetec.

I have this monitor, for work, web browsing, and everything other than watching movies the dot pitch is way too high. I can see the pixels. It's all about dot pitch (which can also be measures in size & resolution). And unfortunately I didn't spend more on one of those fancy Dells.

Apart from that it's a pretty good monitor and good value at under $300.

When you go from 1440p to 1080p its a massive difference.

But when you show someone 1080p without showing 1440p they cant tell straight away or even period.

By your logic, the ASUS 23'' IPS for $135-139 when on sale is even better value. Its actually the best value of the lot!

Anything above 24'' on 1080p can start to get "grainy"

    • Totally agree.

      2560:1920 (= 1440:1080) = 4:3, that's 33% better.

    • do you have a model number for this Asus 23" IPS?

      • +1

        VS239H-P

From what I gather you want the "P" model which indicates better performance for games

would be good for general use, casual games, movies etc.

  • Te best thing about 2560x1440 screens is when you open a 1080p video file and it hows up as a little box in the corner. You the realise how much difference in desktop real estate there really is.
