  • So if was wih Origin more than 10 months ago, i can switch back using same Origin account and earn 30000 on both electricity and gas again with the same EDR account?

    • Yes! You’ll get the reward points, but you’ll need to sign up through the link. They might give you a new account number for what it’s worth.

  • +3

*T&Cs apply. Offer only available to eligible Everyday Rewards members who received the offer directly from Everyday Rewards.

Be careful, you want that offer coming up in youe Everyday Rewards App before signing up for this, otherwise it won't be honoured!

    • +1

That is perfect answer. I was not targeted by ER so I got offered with 5000pts for Gas.

  • Does anyone know how long you need to stay connected? Clicking on the T&C's (for me anyway) does nothing.

    • +1

Need to stay connected for 30 days (although to be safe I’d wait the 45 days for the points to land)

“ (1) maintain the Energy Plan for a minimum of 30 days; and (2) provide your Everyday Rewards Card number to Origin when you sign-up to the Energy Plan. The one-off Everyday Rewards points for electricity and/or natural gas will be deposited into your Everyday Rewards account within approximately 45 days after your Acceptance Date. The amount of one-off Everyday Rewards points given are based on the residential sign up address.”

Want to join, but at nearly double the price, not going to risk it for the biscuit!

  • +3

I only have 5000 points offer and the rates are insane.

    136.66 ¢/day & 33.62 ¢/kWh Origin
    Vs
114.89 & 29.25 what I’m currently on. The points would only cover a couple months’ difference.

    • Who you with?

      • +1

        Nectr, SEQ.

        • Saw one for 29.25c/kwh nb. Never knew about "controlled load 2" - is that normal to have that automatically with all providers?

          • +1

@donman92: I haven’t dealt with controlled load myself unfortunately. My understanding is it is a form of discount for certain devices. If you don’t have anything that utilises it, there is nothing to worry about.

            • @Alley Cat: It's normally for offpeak HWS. In the old days used to be almost free (like say 4-5c/kwhr vs 15c for normal.

Now it's much the same rate.

The smart way to do the hws is to use someone like Amber and automate it so the hws circuit turns on when rates are low.

              • @tonydav: How do you automate that? My hot water system is wired to a dedicated CL circuit.

          • +1

@donman92: Controlled Load 1 or 2 AKA Tariff 31 or 33 is a lower cost tariff designed for items that run only at off-peak times, eg: hot water system.

Check your current bill to confirm if you have anything running on CL1/2 or T31/33, if you don't it's irrelevant for you.

    • I assume you don’t have smart meter installed? DO NOT CONSENT TO SMART METER “UPGRADE”, Energex and retailer will certainly up all charges and add Demand Charge on top to screw you up!

      • Origin Energy does not have Demand Charge in SEQLD

Source: I am with Origin / Energex and I have a smart meter.

  • What about if I'm currently with Origin, but have never recieved an EDR bonus… Maybe i'll try signing to new plan

    • +1

      Yeah and get inflated price.

      • Origin had cheapest rates I could get in ACT for gas and elec.

Subscribers should note - after your contract expires you should shop around again for the latest best rates. I dumped ACTEW because they dumped me - onto a default, more expensive, plan without telling me (I was lazy and didn't check for 12 months). They claimed they sent me a letter but unsurprisingly could find no record of doing so in their system. [email protected].

  • I'm offtopic here but can anyone with kogan energy please comment on your experience? I just submitted my current bill to them and they said I could save around $145 by switching.

    • +1

All company says you will get savings if switch to them.
Best is to apply the rate and supply charges to your previous bill and compare.

  • Provided that you haven’t received any other one-off Everyday Rewards points in connection with this Energy Plan in the preceding 10-month period for the fuel supplied under this Energy Plan, you will be eligible to receive one-off Everyday Rewards points

I signed up to EDR energy plan in June 2023, received the bonus points within 30-45 days (ie mid-late July ‘23) and then canceled my plan due to moving residence in March 2024 (ie less than 10 months ago). I did not sign up or move the origin plan to the new residence in March.

Am I reading this correct? I should be eligible right?

  • I boosted it, and when I put in my card number it says 0 bonus points? Anyone have the same issue?

    • Yes same with me. The customer service rep on the chat said to just continue signing up. I hope I will get the points

  • Could be targeted? I don't have this in my ER app :(

  • No offer for me

  • Origin ripped me off for far too long. Computer says NO!
