  • here does it say that i's limited to USB 2.0 speed?

If its better, wouldn't they advertise it?

      • That's one way of looking at it - although I'm not sure if anybody even makes USB 2.0 anymore, especially with USB-C ports.

        • don't worry apple does

          • @Gdsamp: Apple the king of tight arses.

          • @Gdsamp: You linked the Apple USB-C Charge Cable, which is "only" $29 and Apple does state it's USB2.

For full speed you'd want the $115, $199 or $249 options
            Though, they are USB4…

Or just go with a the $50 Belkin which does USB3 speeds.

USB-C Is merely a type of USB connector and does not indicate data throughput/bandwidth, and this is one of its greatest flaws from a user-friendliness standpoint. Most USB-C charging cables are only USB 2.0. I don’t know of a single smartphone with a USB-C port that was bundled with a USB 3.x cable.

          • @aklh204: Pretty sure that the higher bandwidth capable USB-C cables have extra hardware.

            • @BargainHunterJohnnyB: Yep they do have more wiring in the cable and more pins in the plug. If you go out today to buy a USB-C cable from any brand, more likely than not it’s only wired up to carry a USB 2.0 signal.

I'm not going to neg the deal just coz it's $3 and you get what you pay for. But I've had a few of these and they just stop working or are very fickle. Food for thought

    • This I can agree with. Cheap USB-C cables ALWAYS break. Recently bought a UGREEN 3 meter usb-C cable for the lappy.. Let's see how long it lasts.

    • Same as the lightning to usb c as well in the 2m length in this brand. Got one the other day and fickle is exactly the right term. Lightning connector does not sit snug in the socket.

Have woken up a number of times to my phone not fully charged.

      • I saw those, they’re supposed to be MFi certified so they should have OEM Lightning plugs (it’s likely to be the C94 plug) on them. Are you sure it’s not the charging port that’s clogged up?

My nearest Bunnings doesn’t have them so I’m hoping to buy some on the weekend

      • In the UGREEN brand? I'll return it under warranty if it screws me over.

        • I would expect UGREEN to last the longest, out of the 7 or so cables I've got from them (a few are spares) only one has failed after 7 months

  • Only click and collect, no stock in 80km radius here unfortunately.

  • Ordered delivery to Morley, cancellation SMS not longer after due to "Inventory Inaccuracy"

  • Will those ebay ones for $4 be better?

  • I need a cheap thin one with fast data for VR. I've bought about 4 now online and they're all thick and heavy, even when they're promoted for VR.

    • Cheap/thin/fast…pick two
Cheap and thin = only has the wiring for USB 2.0
Cheap and fast = thick due to copper wiring
Thin and fast = expensive due to optic fibre (e.g. Oculus Link cable)

      • Yeah that's what I've been finding. Oculus Link cable is extremely overpriced if you ask me. I'd consider it around $40 - $50.

  • As of earlier this afternoon, there were still some out the front of the Dural (NSW) store:
