  • There's also this if you have an eligible card: [BoM, BSA, StG] $10 Bonus Cashback on $200 ShopBack Supermarket Visa Gift Card (1000 Rewards/Activation Required) @ ShopBack App. 406 rewards left as of this comment.

  • I think the T&Cs say $5 bonus cashback.

Sorry, feel like I'm missing something, how do you use this in store? If I'm at some Asian grocer, how would I pay? I'm guessing this is a digital GC?

    • +1

You can add it to Apple/Google Pay and use it as a normal card.

    • Is it $10 bonus or $5 bonus per t&c

      • My confirmation email states $10

  • +3

This card is great. Stack it with gc offers from coles and woolies.

    • Can you elaborate please.

      • Treated as a credit card purchase instore, so there's no restrictions on spend

        • +4

… until you try to purchase a gift card from Woolworths where Woolworths has specifically blocked ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift cards as a payment method. The examples I can think of are:

          • +1

@WookieMonster: That's harsh from Woolies! I didn't realise that, thanks for letting me know!

          • @WookieMonster: So are there any where it actually works or is it a hard block on buying GC. Mrhorse has mentioned Cole's as well

            • +1

@illuxon: The gift card in this deal works at any merchant using one of the MCCs listed in the deal description, as long as the merchant chooses to accept the gift card. Woolworths is an example of a merchant where they choose to it in most (but not all) circumstances.

In terms of other merchants using a permitted MCC, as long as staff do not stop you, you can use it. I have used Category Choice Groceries gift cards (a cut-down version of this gift card in this deal from the same gift card company) at Coles (for gift cards and groceries), Woolworths (for groceries), ALDI (for gift cards and groceries), an Asian grocer and a health food store (to name a few examples).

            @WookieMonster: Thanks for the insights!
I managed to buy a TCN HIM card from woolies last night.
Is it only woolies gift card and wish gift card are banned?

            • @mrhorse:

Is it only woolies gift card and wish gift card are banned?

Can you please elaborate on what you mean?

              • @WookieMonster: Yeah, I mean for those cards cannot be purchased from woolworths, are they limited to woolworths branded gift cards only? (Woolworths gift card, Wish gift card)

For other cards sold at Woolworths, like TCN, Ultimate gift cards, they can be purchased using this Shopback Supermarket card?

                • +2

@mrhorse: As per my comment earlier, there are a number of gift cards at Woolworths that you cannot buy using ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift cards. If you try to do this anyway, your ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift card will be automatically rejected as soon as you tap your mobile device and you will get an Items Not Allowed error on the EFTPOS terminal. When I mentioned gift cards issued by Woolworths Group in my earlier comment, that intended to cover Essentials gift cards, Woolworths Supermarkets gift cards, WISH gift cards, Dan Murphy’s gift cards, etc.

However, as you found out last night, a TCN Him gift card can be purchased at Woolworths using a ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift card. I would expect the same for Apple gift cards, Ultimate gift cards, Super Adventure gift cards, etc.

If you want to see a table where the community keeps track of whether Woolworths allows you to purchase a gift card using a ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift card, have a look at this.

  • Can this card be used at woolworths and coles? 😊 Thanks

    • +1

      Yes

      • Thank you

  • +1

Can't see it, are they gone already?

    • Not showing in my Westpac lounge either.

      • did you guys already to the 10 cash back on the stg/bom/bsa offer a few days ago? Maybe if you don't do the stg one you get the westpac offer?

        • I did the stg one and have the Westpac one too

          • @CVonC: ok it's out of stock. thanks for the info Cvon

    • I think it’s out of stock. Says 1100 participants.

  • How do you see your remaining gift card balance? What happens if you excess $200 spend?

    • It's a bit clunky but there is a website that you log into with the card details that shows you the balance. You can't exceed the balance, if you try to pay for something that costs more than the remaining balance on the card then the transaction will decline.

    • +1

How do you see your remaining gift card balance?

The gift card in this deal is a specially-branded digital Activ Visa gift card, so you need to go to the balance check website for digital Activ Visa gift cards.

      https://www.cardbalance.com.au/

What happens if you excess $200 spend?

It depends on whether the merchant allows split payments.

      • If the merchant allows split payments, you need to follow their rules for split payments. For example, Woolworths in-store allows you to do split payments between multiple payment cards (including this gift card); Coles in-store also allows this (unless you are purchasing a gift card at a self checkout, in which case the only form of split payments allowed is cash first, then one payment card); ALDI only allows split payments at standard checkouts if you pay cash first, then one payment card.

      • If the merchant does not allow split payments, you can only spend up to the available amount on your gift card. Keep in mind that some merchants (e.g. ALDI) will choose to apply a payment surcharge to this gift card, as this gift card only operates on the Visa network, so that may affect your calculations.

      • What is the ALDI surcharge, please?

        • +2

          0.5%.

If you want to know when ALDI applies a surcharge and how it calculates it, I suggest you read this.

  • I didn't get my $150 cash back from ShopBack. I wouldn't trust them.

    • I am up over $4000 cashback, never missed one of mine and only had to submit a query twice.
