Just wondering if it's better to get an upfront discount than wait for cashback which may take about 2-3 months? The difference is under $20. Then there's the 30 day activation rule for cashback which may not suit some people.

I bought the $187 but it doesn’t need to be activated for a year , which suits me, this is only 30 days

  • Any idea what the expiry date of these would be, or best way to find out?

wouldnt matter - u gotta activate within 30 days

    Activate by 21 October 2024.

SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering.

So the first date provided isn't for the cashback on a deal about cashback?

    • That’s correct, the first date is for the SIM expiry

      • No, the first date is for the bonus data. SIM expiry likely to be July or September 2025.

  • How good is Boost signal? I saw some comments saying that it's not as good as before.

    • Using the full Telstra network is an outright lie I don’t care what anyone else says.

      • It is technically true but pay attention to the wording.

You'll see everywhere "Full Telstra Network". This is true, they utilise retail Telstra network coverage (not the wholesale that other MVNOs do) and you can get access to every tower that full Telstra does.

But this is not the same thing as speed or signal strength. You may not get every band that tower offers. Traffic prioritisation happens (simplified example might be - EMS/Ent/…/Telstra/Boost/Wholesale).

Think of it as business class telco where Telstra is first class (LOL) and wholesale is economy. It offers most of the bells and whistles for a cheaper price and for many people that is a worthwhile trade off.

        • They need to be clear about this otherwise it's false advertising. Full means full.
