Price of Superseded iPhone after New Launch

Current iPhone is 5 years old with storage that is running out. Will give away phone to family member.

Need a new iPhone (please don't turn this into a debate about iOS vs Android) but happy to wait until the new iPhone 16 is released ~Sept. Going overseas in October, so good timing for GST refund too.

I don't really need the latest iPhone 16 but need a new iPhone with more storage. I'll be happy with the superceded iPhone 14 or 15.

Upon launch of the new iPhone, what generally happens to the prices of superceded iPhones that are now 1 or 2 generations old. I'm still tossing up between the 14,15 or 16.

The 15 is to me overpriced but when the new 16 is released, the 16 won't be any cheaper, but hopefully the 15 will be cheaper.

    New iPhone comes out $100-200 more than the old model making the old model seem cheaper by comparison.

      I don't think that's true. iPhone 12, 13, 14 and 15 series have had pretty consistent pricing with currency inflation adjustments.

      Older generation models are reduced via Apple direct, and even more so at third party retailers till they run out of stock.

    It doesn't get any cheaper than that. But we're already seeing $300 reductions on iPhones leading up to the release of the new one. I planned on getting a 14 pro when the 15 came out last time and there were cheaper deals prior to that.

    The pro's production is generally discontinued a bit before the release of the new model to ensure the market isn't flooded. Apple's been doing this for a while to make sure stock doesn't flood the market and ensures theres an upgrade reason.

    iPhone 15 series models already been reduced bigly since launch… much more so than previous generations - check previously posted deals

      Only the iPhone Plus model.
