You're better off going for the $170 Everyday Mobile yearly plan before they close it off next month to new customers… Can get up to $600 per years in saving from Woolies too…

    • +6

For new customers: The $100, $170 and $220 Starter Packs are no longer available for purchase online or in-store.

      Unlucky for new customers…

    • +7

Not if you need Telstra retail coverage

        • +8

waits for actual data and not just an anecdotal opinion to back up this nonsense

          • -1

            @KangaDrew:

            waits for actual data

            97.5% of people don't though…

            • +5

              @jv: 98.37% of people do though…

              • @KangaDrew: You are using the old stats…

            • +1

@jv: Is that the "97.5% of the population covered" or some kind of stat like that? That would only refer to residential addresses, it would not mean "97.5% of the population never exit the coverage area of the network and therefore never need extra coverage".

People might only exit the Telstra wholesale coverage area for short periods, e.g. long drives or going hiking, but enhanced coverage would still be important to them.

              • -1

                @Alzori:

but enhanced coverage would still be important to them.

                Not for the price difference.

                • @jv: Now you're making unbacked assertions without data. I can do that too: It is worth the price difference to all of those people. Now who's right?

                  • -3

                    @Alzori:

Now you're making unbacked assertions without data.

                    Both plans include data.

                    • @jv: Those plans include data, but you are not giving data to me to back up your assertions, so how can I believe you? Can you provide this data? I'll believe you if you send me say… 170GB of data access via Boost mobile network?

This is the exact reason my wife changed from Optus MNVO to Boost. We live in an area of excellent coverage and spend most of our time in high-population areas where choice of network is effectively immaterial most of the time.

But when we are going on long road trips, we pass through several remote areas where there is no Optus coverage and she has no reception, but my phone continues to work fine. If she does the trip alone, she doesn't want to get a flat tyre or something and be unable to call for help.

Interestingly enough, there is one short section of road where she has excellent reception on Optus but Boost has almost nothing - we only noticed because my phone stops streaming audio at the same location every time.

                • @klaw81:

where she has excellent reception on Optus but Boost has almost nothing

We found that on Mt Baw Baw… Telstra nothing, but Optus worked fine.

I've been on Boost for many years now and kids have been on Woolies mobile and there has been no difference pretty much everywhere we've been.

    • New plan probably will add 5G which is really important. I have been used them for couple of years and switching to Boost, the reception isn't very good for me.

    • -1

Might be cheaper but way worse coverage as it doesn't use the full Telstra network.

      • +2

As someone who has both Boost and Everyday Mobile I haven't noticed any difference, even in regional areas.

        • Same here and have also More Mobile. Only diffeence is poor reception with Boost at Miranda Westfield.

          • @tman2020:

Only difference is poor reception with Boost at Miranda Westfield.

That's not actually possible. Both phones would be accessing the exact same network and antennas.

            • @klaw81: Same phone, one sim the other esim. Nil issues with More but very poor with Boost.

          • @tman2020: same with me everytime I go to Bunnings or big shopping centres

    • I'm existing customer, ouch didn't know about this - what's the details? Can I get it.

      • Yes, just switch to that plan in the app and turn on auto-renew.

If you turn off auto-renew or switch to another plan, it will no longer be available to select from September.

        • Maybe I’m an idiot but where abouts in the app am I able to do that?

        • This is incorrect, It states in the app your auto-recharge will be increasing alongside the plan changes.

          • @icecold27: What is increasing?

The email sent to customers says nothing will change if you set it to auto-renew. It will remain $170 for the foreseeable future.

            • @jv: Interesting " What happens if i have auto recharge enabled? Your auto recharge will stay enabled, and youll automatically be charge the new amount for your first recharge on or after 22 october 2024"

Unless I'm reading it wrong i think they will shift you to the new plan?

              • @icecold27: Where did you see this. Can you share a screenshot? I only see this on Boost

                • @RQNinja: In the recharge FAQ on the boost APP, It states it when you go to turn on the auto-renew function also.

                  • +1

@icecold27: This thread is related to the everyday mobile plans and not boost

    • Even you can purchase these plan now, EM doesn't have access 5G network of Telstra. Boost can.

      • +1

EM doesn't have access 5G network of Telstra.

        Yes they do…

        Most people don't need 5G though…

  • Does anyone have experience with Boost?

I've used Aldi mobile previously and found them very good

    • +13

Used boost for the last 2 years. No issue. Its the full Telstra network. Aldi is the Telstra Wholesale network, so in theory Boost will be better.

      • It definitely is better, although now it's speed capped.

        • -5

          It definitely is better,

In most coverage areas, it won't make any difference…

    • +3

Does anyone have experience with Boost?

Yes, customer service is as bad as Telstra….

      • Try Optus & their associates 😋. Full signal but no mobile Internet.

    • +3

Moved from Vodafone to Boost a few months back, significant improvement in reception.

    • +1

It depends where you are and what works in your area. Telstra has the best coverage in general, but it's not great everywhere! If I didn't have wifi calling, Telstra would be unusable at my house, and I'm about 10km from the centre of Melbourne!

      • +2

Same… We're less than 10km and get better coverage with Optus.

      • This. Optus and its MVNOs are completely useless in my suburban area. By their own admittance not enough tower coverage, and in the end they agreed to let me exit contract on that basis.

    • +1

      Their network/coverage is great.
      Their customer service is dreadful.

    • +1

Won't make a diffrence in metro areas. Nil issues with wholesale (More) and full telstra (Boost) in Sth Sydney, city centre and Parrammatta areas in Sydney. Haven't had issues with either in Canberra and NSW South Coast. Others may have different experiences. I'm not a heavy user so don't notice any diffrence between 4g and 5g.

I’d spend the extra $0.25 for a Sept 2025 expiry
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/274613561734

    • shows $206 for me

      Got this one. Thanks

    • +3

Sold out now but this one is July 2025 Exp:
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/176246527041

      • anyway to confirm if this July 2025 date is legit? Even after receiving the physical SIM, where is the expiry mentioned?

And if its not the claimed expiry date, would a chargeback be in order?

Just wanting to be doubly sure, as Boost has marked this plan as obsolete, so being able to do this until July 2025, basically extending a non-existent plan until July 2026, seems too good to be true.

Appreciate the post though! deserves a separate deal

        • +1

The exp date is on the back of the sim pack, and yep, if it turns out to be a much sooner date it would be worthy of a dispute, "item not as described" …

          Also:
          https://news.boost.com.au/latest-plans/

From 22 October 2024 the price of some of our plans will change. If you buy a SIM today, you’ll get the current data and inclusions upon activation, even if you activate after 22 October 2024

          • +1

@FLICKIT: I ordered from this listing and expiry is 2025-01-06, it is NOT 14 July 2025, disputing now :(

            • @zrorz: That sucks :( … Mine hasn't arrived yet, no doubt it's the same :(

(my current plan ends late April so Jan doesn't work for me, it'll be going back)

            • @zrorz: Same for me! So annoyed!

            • @zrorz: I am disputing mine now. Have you received your refund yet?

    • +1

The listing has since been updated to Jan 2025 stock with an "expiry date 6/1/2025" in the description. When I look at the "original" description of my order from earlier it's also showing the updated date but I 100% remember seeing the "9/2025" date mentioned above before I ordered. Does anyone happen to have the September expiry in their order details?

      • +1

        I remember seeing circa 9/2025 when I commented but I didn’t take a screenshot

        • From your order you can see the pre-edited description of what you purchased…

      • I got screwed by this. Just received my sim card and has expiry date of 1st January 2025. Have started a return.

        • I also got screwed. I ordered ay 12:47pm on the 12th. Got my sim yesterday and it's dated Jan 2025. Am waiting for seller's response.

          • +1

@Taiguile: If they are stubborn, reference the revision history https://www.ebay.com.au/rvh/274613561734?rt=nc

            • +1

@flopsypants: They admitted the mistake and told me to initiate a return. Still doesn't help me as I could have bought another later dated SIM on the 12th which are now sold out. Annoying

              • @Taiguile: I initiated a return and have the label. Does the seller have to confirm first before posting it back? Have you received the refund yet?

                • +1

@soan papdi: No. Once you've got the label just post it at the counter at Aus Post. I got my refund yesterday.

                  • @Taiguile: Thanks. Do I jave to purchase my own envelope at auspost or is it included in the return process?

                    • @soan papdi: Replying to myself. The envelope was only $1.50 or something, didn't want to drag this out. Seller confirmed that I can return, so that's that.

                    • +2

@soan papdi: I just took the sleeve it was delivered in, turned it inside out, taped it up and stuck the label on. You don't need to purchase an envelope. Just make your own thin packaging.

        • Yep, I think I'll have to do the same. Will just return as item not as described.

  • will this work in a Telstra NBN modem with 4g backup without an actual NBN connection?

    • Yes it should, but Telstra Wholesale providers work too and will probably be a little bit cheaper.

  • what ? paid $190 just 5 days ago

    • +2

You could have almost afforded a coffee with those lost savings.

  • The SIM expiry date is 05/01/2025

does it mean i have to activate before this date ? thnx

    • +1

      Yes.

  • What about going with Woolies and getting the extra 10% off each month twice? (of course with an existing paid rewards member?)

    • +2

      Crappier coverage.

      • I don't notice any diffrence between wholesale (More esim) and full Telstra (Boost physical sim) in Sydney metro for both data and voice. Remote/regional may be different but Canberra and Wollongong are fine and during a holiday trip down south nsw earlier this year i had nill issue with More.

    • Do you get the 10% twice pwr month if paid rewards member. Didn't know that.

  • Could I get this if I've got an active Boost service expiring in November?

    • +1

Yes, but you will have to port out and back in.

      • Does anyone know how long is required for a port out and in again to be considered a new customer?

        • +2

You can port back in immediately.

          • @Cucumber123: So just port to the cheapest non-Telstra service possible? Grab a $2 sim for Vodafone or something?

            • +1

@klaw81: You can port out to Telstra also. I did this a couple of months ago using a $2 Telstra Sim. Avoid Vodafone. They force you to recharge to activate the Sim and charge a port out fee for prepaid. It'll probably cost $25 to port out and in via Vodafone.

  • can you use this to start an e-sim service?
