3 bonus 1 or on Ali. The cost of label papers is what I'm concerned about as it's not cheap if I print a lot. Not too sure.
These label makers are so useful since its app controlled, just note the labels are for interior use only. The sun UV kills the text within 2-3 months.
I bought ones from asia and its geolocked fml. How stupid.

Does the label maker come with a single roll to get going or one has to buy the kit or labels separately?
Not sure, but you don't have to buy the labels separately. The website linked has Maker+Roll bundles. You can use the School code with the bundles too.
Reading through the images, it says that there are 12x40mm labels included. Presumably, a standard roll?
Not sure what's upgraded about this. Seems like it cannot take the wider rolls so it's about of a step back?
Does Niimbot still enforce DRM replacement label rolls, or it's old news now?
Just received mine, the DRM is still enforced through NFC tags.
The printer scans the tag when closing the lid (to recognise the label size).
It then scans the tag before every print (to make sure that the genuine roll is still there).
How do I know this? Well the NFC reader is strong enough to read the tags from the outside of the machine. I loaded a generic roll inside and printed a label once by itself, and again with the genuine roll held against it on the outside of the machine.
The print quality is night and day (about 90% faded if using generic roll, impossible to read).
Sad to say I am returning this POS since this is like printer ink DRM all over again.
It's a pity that these only have fixed width labels :(
