Amusingly, the promo cards (the singular ones outside the booster packs) are not tournament legal. Not an issue if you're playing at home, but at least it'll look schmick in a binder.

    • How come?

      • These cards were originally part of the "Pokémon Classic Collection" premium box - an $800 set that was made as a standalone, self-contained experience and not part of regular tournament play.

For whatever reason, the Pokémon Company didn't print a letter on the bottom left corner of each card, which would determine what cards are usable in tournaments.

        • Ah right, thanks for that. Just getting into it.

  • selli outio

  • They used to have good pulls every set. Now rare pulls are rare lol

  • I got two. One box had $42 worth of ex+ pulls, the second one $25. Similar to some of the cheap booster boxes I got recently. So not too bad but still a small loss for now.

  • get zooted

  • Can i ask how do you play with those cards? And why they are so expensive?

    • It's a two-player card game. You need enough cards (60) to make a deck, and you can play physically against someone else. The cards also come with codes to use for the digital version of the game, which you can play against people on mobile/PC.

They are expensive because they are also collectors items, and some cards are much more valuable than others. In a set like this, you are guaranteed some of the more useful/powerful cards, as opposed to taking your luck in opening a smaller packet of cards,
