  • Ripper deal once CR comes into play. I have been driving the ultra 5 version from last sale and it's the best laptop I have had.

    • How’s the battery life?

      • Very good, even with Teams calls.

        • How many hours, looking for school laptop so battery and weight are the considerations as well.
          How much this laptop weighs?

          • @vsvs: Light load I could get 8-10 hours. Non-stop teams calls I get 3ish hrs.

        • I've got the same model from EOF deal, with Ultra 5 125H Processor, and it lasts around 6 hours with just the lid up doing nothing.

Seems like the battery life is hit-n-miss? Very strange.

          • +1

@candobetter: 8-10 hours. I got rid of non-essential software and use it mainly for M365, including teams.

        • Thanks for the update, it looks like AMD version may be better as far as battery life is concerned. AMD doesn't offer 32GB RAM though through their portal.

    • What’s CR?

    • +2

My cashback via Cashrewards was rejected from a similar EOF deal. I've raised support ticket with CR and they replied it was rejected by Lenovo and they have no visibility into why. Here is the official response:

Unfortunately Lenovo has declined your transaction. The most common reasons for declined cashback below:

      - Transactions being fully or partially returned or refunded
      - Transactions being attributed to a different channel
      - A coupon being used that was not advertised on Cashrewards
      - Not complying with the store’s special terms

None of that applies in my case but not much you can do here. You aren't going to sue Lenovo for not fulfilling the cashback :)

i dont get it. this small thin laptop can have 73w battery but a big gaming (budget) laptop usually only has 57w batter. why is that? just purely cutting cost?

    • +1

Gaming laptops are all about compromise, I always recommend against them

    • +5

During gaming CPU + GPU need maximum power draw and they usually need to be plugged in anyway, as battery can't sustain that much current. So why fitting a large battery to a laptop that's designed to be plugged in most of the time?

      • -4

Gaming laptops can turn off their D GPU and the silicon inside their CPUs are higher quality, since they run at higher clocks. So when limited to 25 watts, you'd expect them to have the same performance and better battery life. But no.

      • very true, mine is also set to 50% battery conservation mode, so realistically i only use 40W capacity but have to carry the full weight of 3kg+ all the time.

    • +2

gaming laptops need more space for cooling, while these can be cooled passively most of the time. plus gaming laptops are mostly used plugged in, so why put huge battery in.

razers usually put large batteries in theirs

are these affected by the Intel 13th and 14th gen issues?

    prices might yet fall more?

    • +1

      Good point, 155H spec:
      Processor Base Power 28 W
      Maximum Turbo Power 115 W
      Minimum Assured Power 20 W

      • I think if it's above 65W then problems start happening.

    • +1

The faster AMD version is available for $1599. Similar Yoga Pro 7i machine, but only 16GB RAM, perhaps there is a 32GB RAM upgrade option, but I didn't see one.

I am in the market for this laptop, but with the new 370 AMD AI processors with the 890m GPU, I am going to wait to see what Lenovo can put out.

I imagine, if we take Asus as an example, the new AMD processors will be at a higher price bracket, but the performance is pretty killer from the benchmarks I have seen.

        • It's gonna be overpriced. the Asus Vivobook is 3500 with the 370 ai. For that price just buy an M3 pro macbook

365 ai is decently priced though(2000)

      • +3

think that price might be with a non-touch screen (touch screen seems to be $700 more)

      • +1

AMD 8845HS is better from so many review comparisons

        • Yes, it is. But Lenovo gimps it with only 16GB

  • another $50 for the 1TB SSD seems worth it. My main concern are the reported issues with the latest intel processors. Supposedly on an issue with their higher power desktop processors but there are some reports that some of the laptop processors might also be impacted. Keen to hear the views of the ozbargain brainstrust.

    • +1

I believe it's been shown that one can somewhat mitigate/avoid the issue by setting IA VR Voltage limits (At least to the extent that they no longer see it boosting to cook your cpu voltages on their oscilloscopes), but access to those options on Lenovo laptops will be hidden behind arcane key combinations to enable advanced mode in BIOS/UEFI? I'm not even sure if it is available here.

Intel seem to be denying it affects mobile parts, but people with large data sets of crash data appear to indicate it may still be an issue.

  • Are these screens quite reflective?

    • Well I mean the word "Glare" is literally included in the official description.

      • +1

its kind of weird to hvae that in the sales pitch isn't it

        • +2

Probably just a direct translation, "glossy" is probably the word they were going for.

      • Lol yea I was wondering if they meant anti glare as nobody markets glare :)

  • Anyone know if this is even cheaper than student deal?

  • +2

    Iron Oxide included?

    • I believe that only effects the desktop cpus 65W and above.

  • +2

    Intel No

    • +2

Intel asleep at the wheel since 11th gen in 2021

  • I'm posting this from a Ryzen 7 8845H and I'd definitely go for that over the one advertised here.
Plus it's cheaper and has an OLED display.

  • Hold for upsized cashback if I buy from Lenovo :)
