  • Ripper deal once CR comes into play. I have been driving the ultra 5 version from last sale and it's the best laptop I have had.

    • How’s the battery life?

      • +1

Very good, even with Teams calls.

        • How many hours, looking for school laptop so battery and weight are the considerations as well.
          How much this laptop weighs?

          • +1

@vsvs: Light load I could get 8-10 hours. Non-stop teams calls I get 3ish hrs.

        • I've got the same model from EOF deal, with Ultra 5 125H Processor, and it lasts around 6 hours with just the lid up doing nothing.

Seems like the battery life is hit-n-miss? Very strange.

          • +1

@candobetter: 8-10 hours. I got rid of non-essential software and use it mainly for M365, including teams.

        • Thanks for the update, it looks like AMD version may be better as far as battery life is concerned. AMD doesn't offer 32GB RAM though through their portal.

    • What’s CR?

    • +3

My cashback via Cashrewards was rejected from a similar EOF deal. I've raised support ticket with CR and they replied it was rejected by Lenovo and they have no visibility into why. Here is the official response:

Unfortunately Lenovo has declined your transaction. The most common reasons for declined cashback below:

      - Transactions being fully or partially returned or refunded
      - Transactions being attributed to a different channel
      - A coupon being used that was not advertised on Cashrewards
      - Not complying with the store’s special terms

None of that applies in my case but not much you can do here. You aren't going to sue Lenovo for not fulfilling the cashback :)

      • Pity TA is no longer able to help

      • +1

Wow that sucks, for something like a laptop it’s hundreds of dollars and you probably wouldn’t have bought it if it wasn’t the cashback.

Definitely an area that requires more regulation.

      • I'd rather not count my chicken before they hatch. So CR/SB are big no for sizable transactions any more. I personally did get one 12% cashback from Dell/CR in 2021 but then missed out on a Boost SIM in 2022 and then religiously started choosing SB (over CR) after that.

        • I found that CR/SB cashbacks work well for some retailers (like booking.com) but not so well for others (like Amazon). I guess it's something to do with integration between CR/SB and retailer, and different rates and categories.

    • Will be rejected if used code not listed on CR, SB tho, what's the point?

      • But the code is listed on CR… so check before you buy?

  • +1

i dont get it. this small thin laptop can have 73w battery but a big gaming (budget) laptop usually only has 57w batter. why is that? just purely cutting cost?

    • +1

Gaming laptops are all about compromise, I always recommend against them

    • +5

During gaming CPU + GPU need maximum power draw and they usually need to be plugged in anyway, as battery can't sustain that much current. So why fitting a large battery to a laptop that's designed to be plugged in most of the time?

      • -3

Gaming laptops can turn off their D GPU and the silicon inside their CPUs are higher quality, since they run at higher clocks. So when limited to 25 watts, you'd expect them to have the same performance and better battery life. But no.

      • very true, mine is also set to 50% battery conservation mode, so realistically i only use 40W capacity but have to carry the full weight of 3kg+ all the time.

    • +2

gaming laptops need more space for cooling, while these can be cooled passively most of the time. plus gaming laptops are mostly used plugged in, so why put huge battery in.

razers usually put large batteries in theirs

    • i wouldn't even consider a gaming laptop to rely on its battery - portability only so long as there's a powerpoint nearby

    • My legion 5 pro (2022) with a similar price, so comparing like for like has an 80wh battery and a gpu.
Yes, it’s smaller but there’s 4 fans, a gpu and I think a bigger heatsink than an integrated graphics would have.

      • wow legion pro is out of my budget then i thought around 1200ish

        • I got the amd chip with a 3060 in July 2022 for $2179 before a 14% cashback.

They did a good sale and a big cashback with it otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it.

Keep an eye out for sales on here, that’s how I got the deal. It was upwards of $4k before the deals which i wouldn’t have bought.

Definitely recommend the pro rather than just the 5 as the screen goes to 500nits.

  • +7

are these affected by the Intel 13th and 14th gen issues?

    prices might yet fall more?

    • +1

      Good point, 155H spec:
      Processor Base Power 28 W
      Maximum Turbo Power 115 W
      Minimum Assured Power 20 W

      • I think if it's above 65W then problems start happening.

    • +4

The faster AMD version is available for $1599. Similar Yoga Pro 7i machine, but only 16GB RAM, perhaps there is a 32GB RAM upgrade option, but I didn't see one.

I am in the market for this laptop, but with the new 370 AMD AI processors with the 890m GPU, I am going to wait to see what Lenovo can put out.

I imagine, if we take Asus as an example, the new AMD processors will be at a higher price bracket, but the performance is pretty killer from the benchmarks I have seen.

        • It's gonna be overpriced. the Asus Vivobook is 3500 with the 370 ai. For that price just buy an M3 pro macbook

365 ai is decently priced though(2000)

          • +1

@Degeneracy: Isn't a macbook a very different user interface, to a Windows notebook?

It'd potentially require relearning the OS, buying the Apple version of all the applications and learning how they work, learning how drivers work and how to update them etc?

      • +3

think that price might be with a non-touch screen (touch screen seems to be $700 more)

      • +2

AMD 8845HS is better from so many review comparisons

        • Yes, it is. But Lenovo gimps it with only 16GB

          • @RedHab: Is the 16Gb max the only issue? Apart from that the AMD version seems superior in every way?

            • @knasty: Yes, AMD machine is faster and may run slightly longer/cooler, but it doesn't have much RAM for such a powerful machine, and the RAM is soldered in.
Otherwise the machines are almost the same. You'll find detailed reviews of both online, but be careful, Lenovo changes the specs slightly for each region, so if you see a US or German review, the laptop with the same name might not be what you get here.

              • @RedHab: Strangely enough the Intel equivalent seems to last far longer in test reviews despite AMD having the theoretical edge.

          • @RedHab: I'm not sold on the need for 32Gb ram generally

    • The Ultra 155H is a Meteor Lake. The ones with issues is only Raptor Lake as far as I've heard. So this should be good. Not 100% sure though.

  • another $50 for the 1TB SSD seems worth it. My main concern are the reported issues with the latest intel processors. Supposedly on an issue with their higher power desktop processors but there are some reports that some of the laptop processors might also be impacted. Keen to hear the views of the ozbargain brainstrust.

    • +1

I believe it's been shown that one can somewhat mitigate/avoid the issue by setting IA VR Voltage limits (At least to the extent that they no longer see it boosting to cook your cpu voltages on their oscilloscopes), but access to those options on Lenovo laptops will be hidden behind arcane key combinations to enable advanced mode in BIOS/UEFI? I'm not even sure if it is available here.

Intel seem to be denying it affects mobile parts, but people with large data sets of crash data appear to indicate it may still be an issue.

      • Seems to be a lot for what is a ticking time bomb from Intel

  • Are these screens quite reflective?

    • -1

Well I mean the word "Glare" is literally included in the official description.

      • +1

its kind of weird to hvae that in the sales pitch isn't it

        • +3

Probably just a direct translation, "glossy" is probably the word they were going for.

      • Lol yea I was wondering if they meant anti glare as nobody markets glare :)

  • Anyone know if this is even cheaper than student deal?

    • The AMD model is $200 more expensive on the student store

  • +2

    Iron Oxide included?

    • I believe that only effects the desktop cpus 65W and above.

  • +4

    Intel No

    • +5

Intel asleep at the wheel since 11th gen in 2021

      • +3

        Waaaaaay before that ;)

      • More like since 7th gen in 2015

  • +1

I'm posting this from a Ryzen 7 8845H and I'd definitely go for that over the one advertised here.
Plus it's cheaper and has an OLED display.

    • I saw the AMD one with 3050rtx for 1700

    • There is no OLED option for AMD, Its only available on the intel one.

I wanted to go with the Ryzen too since most charts show its better performance (and Im abit of an AMD fanboy haha). But the youtube video i posted below shows its not the case, and this was a pretty fair apple to apple comparison since its on the same laptop (even screen option) the Lenovo Yogo Pro 7 2024 so pretty much just the CPU the main difference.

    • So OLED is better than 3K IPS panel?

  • +1

Hold for upsized cashback if I buy from Lenovo :)

  • +1

I ordered one for myself and my partner last week with 1tb upgrade. Surprising it was only 40% discounted with august voucher and now its 41% lol.

For those on the fence about amd or intel, you cant really go wrong with either. But this a good video good video comparing them both and its in the yoga pro!

  • wowzers thats a good price. But can it run lego fortnite?

  • Decent deal but have a look on the lenovo outlet too. I got lucky and found one with this exact spec for 1.3k brand new. Can upgrade the warranty too.

Laptop is great but is a little bit on the chunkier side (we came from a surface laptop 3). Battery great though and pretty quiet too.

    • Thanks for the info. When did you purchase it? I saw Lenovo outlet and it shows only 1 laptop atm.

      • A month ago. New items pop up all the time if you can wait.

        • Thanks for the update. Enjoy your laptop.

  • Has the integrated graphics improved on these or still behind 760 or 780 on the and chips.

    • Improved a lot but amd still ahead, look on YouTube 155H gaming

  • Great laptop for the workplace. Maybe not so for gaming kids

  • +1

please be noted that this laptop may not support pen touch. but only fingers. that means lenovo pens can not be used to annotate document or paint.

13% cashback for Yoga in Cashrewards

  • Can this be combined with cashrewards 13% cashback? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/860758

    • Should work the discount code is on the cashrewards inclusion list

  • Computer illiterate question, but if I wanted to replace the 512gb ssd with, say a 2tb or 4tb SSD, is that possible? The website states 'up to 1tb' so I'm not sure if that's a hardware constraint or just what Lenovo offer?
A quick google tells me I would need to clone the included SSD onto the new SSD before install, does that sound right?

    Thanks!

    • +1

nah, you can put as much as TB your wallet allows.
nah, no need to clone you can fresh install windows if you want.

  • I bought this laptop 3 months ago and use it daily. Upgraded to 1TB SSD. Happy with my purchase and runs well, no issues. I even do a bit of gaming on it.

    • How much did you bought it for? Was it cheaper than the current price? Nice to know that you are happy with the laptop.

      • I got it for $1850. Was on sale at the time as well.

        • Thanks for the info, much appreciated. It looks like a great deal.

  • My office 3 Lenovo laptop keyboard fail

  • Is going Ultra 9 over Ultra 7 worth the extra $190?

    • I don’t think so, unless the extra horsepower is needed for specific tasks. In some cases, Ultra 7 is better as less throttling and better power efficiency.

  • Alot of people seem to have issues with hinge on Lenovo Yoga series, not sure how bad it is….

  • +1
