        You beauty!!

  • The PayPal method wasn't working, so I signed up and paid for 1 month of the Unlimited subscription to create a Virgin Wines account instead ($3.99).

This meant I was able to have the cart retained between sessions instead of using the PayPal checkout method in step 2.

    • Can i know how do you do it? Just pay a month of the subscription then?

      • Correct - it means the deal is $43, but still great value

        • How did you manage to add the wine bundle to your cart?

          • @love me agooddeal: Sorry - this is exactly what I did:

            1. Pay for 1 month Unlimited subscription (sign up for Virgin Wines account during checkout)
            2. Use the deal link above and enter code AAEJ001 alongside your email to select 1 of 3 options for a dozen wines, with an additional 2 free red's and 2 stemless glasses.
            3. Continue through the checkout and choose PayPal as payment method (it will work this time)
            4. On the Paypal page, select 'Cancel and Return to Virgin Wines' at the bottom of the page.
            5. After you've returned from PayPal, go back to the Virgin Wines home page
            6. Click your cart, and checkout. Enter the code GET50 to get another $50 off, bringing the total to $39 before shipping.
            • @itsfree: Oh well, I guess I'm out of luck then. Payapl is giving me errors and I'm unable to proceed

              • @love me agooddeal: The error was showing up for me too until I did the above. I was able to complete it twice – for me, and for my brother.

        • +1

I replicated the steps you mentioned but GET50 is not working :(

  • PayPal is giving me errors too now

  • Can any one confirm of signing up method works please

  • Getting errors going to PayPal. :-(

    Good work, OP.

  • I get the following now with PayPal when I click cancel and return to virgin wines as per above instructions:

This www.virginwines.com.au page can’t be foundNo web page was found for the web address: https://www.virginwines.com.au/api/checkout/orders/v2&paypal…
    HTTP ERROR 404

    • +3

and now the GET50 voucher isn't working either… sigh

  • +2

seems its no longer working - keep getting the error 'No Response or Unsuccessful Response from Paypal. Please try again or proceed with Credit Card"
tried clearing cookies and also incognito - no luck.

  • +1

    didn't work for me.

  • +1

got an AusPost alert at 2:50pm - Virgin Wines shipment being prepared

    • I got one at 4pm, I ordered at 11am.

  • Can get through to PayPal now but when returning get either 404 or takes me back to the first page with nothing in cart :(

  • Tried to make an account, but it hasn't sent me anything. The GET50 comes up as successfully applying, but doesn't change the price- clearing the cache & cookies prior doesn't seem to help.

    • Same here

  • Missed out too. Seems not working anymore.

  • Think they stopped the code stacking

  • The code GET50 doesn't do anything any more, stays at $89.

  • Has anyone tried cancelling the wine subscription yet?

    • +1

This is easily done on their live chat.

    • +1

I've cancelled via the contact form on their website.

  • Got a dispatched email

    • Did you get a confirmation email? I got a paypal authorisation but nothing else

      • Yeah got the confirmation email about 5 mins after order. Used a disposable credit card.

      • I got the same. Won't hold my breath on this one; would be nice though, need a restock of reds.

      • Did you end up getting confirmation email?

        • Nope. Waiting for the payment to be refunded on paypal instead now :'(

  • Got despatch email, paid $39 with 3 months unlimited trial. Paid via credit card. Cancelled wine plan via email under contact on the website.

  • Dispatch email received last night.

  • I have just got the delivery from Aramex

  • Paid with a credit card - still says "processing"

  • +1

    Got dispatch email yesterday, but…

Now the tracking says "contact sender". Guess the party's over 😔

  • Paid with credit card, now I can see the tracking website that the item is on hold at the sender's request, oh.. bugger.

    • same they've put a hold on the parcel - looks like cancellation inbound

      • mine is in transit to my city.. I will be curious to see what the status is tomorrow.

        • Same, but has now been returned to sender at their request.

          • @Chuppa: Oh, no. I just rechecked mine and it has changed to 'in transit' from hold with an estimated delivery date of next Monday. It didn't say returning to the sender.

            • @hiaaron: They’ve changed my delivery address on the parcel to their distro hub. My parcel is now in progress, back to them.

  • +1

They haven't sent me any notice of change or refund - but the tracking they sent now shows the parcel is "Returned to sender
Your parcel has now been returned to the sender in accordance with their request. Please contact the sender for more information."

    • Shows the same for me, "Returned to sender".

      Oh well.

    • Same for me. Hopefully they cancel my membership while they’re at it.

Confused on why VW would recall the shipments for a $50 loss. The recall of the shipment would cost them, but the larger cost is alienating a new customer acquisition. It’s a double loss that could have ultimately won them new long term customers.

  • +6

Had mine out for delivery yesterday. Changed to “on hold” this morning and back to the depot.

    2 hours later, delivered.

    • That’ll show them…

    • +2

Hopefully mine does the same! Just said out for delivery this morning, then 2hrs later on hold. I'm in Brisbane, surely the cost of sending it back is just not worth it??

      • +5

Update: Mine actually arrived!! Hopefully everyone else gets theirs too!

        • Mine got caught in Brisbane and redirecting to new address

        • Anything worthwhile in the box or just a bunch of bottled goon?

  • Aramex marked as delivered but no address or photos called VW and told there was a system error and the order was cancelled

  • +1

Wine arrived in the depot from Sydney today but now it is marked on hold. Baffling decision from VW to recall packages that are in transit but oh well.

  • Interesting, mine was put on hold last Friday then changed to in transit. Then, it was put on hold this morning then half an hour later changed to 'off hold and ready for delivery.

    • Oh well, got the delivery message but couldn't find anything in front of the door, called the courier and was told it was sent back to the sender.

  • Email received, and appropriate reply sent. Delivery still enroute though haha

  • I ordered with a friend at the same time, on the same PC. We also live in the same postcode.

Hers was delivered yesterday and mine is at the depot. I also received an email which gave me two options - cancel for a refund or submit a valid order.

I'm not doing anything for now.

    • +2

I read the email as we're cancelling your order as step 1. And step two if you want you can place a new order.
Didn't think we needed to reply to them..

      • +1

        You're correct

    • +3

Yeah, for some reason, I got 2 of those cancelation emails but I'm just ignoring them, see what happens. Terrible decision to cancel the order once shipped imo.

  • @Cheezbrgr did you end up getting a delivery?

    • Unfortunately not - they returned to warehouse. Asked for a refund.

      • same just got the email

  • Received the order cancellation email. Delivery on hold.

Oh well. Now to cancel the membership.

  • +8

Unbelievable. The courier arrived with the box of wine. Then went to scan and said sorry can't give to you, the delivery is on hold. Virgin - You're a total waste of everyone's time.

    • That'd be so disappointing 😔

      • +7

Having worked in this market before, the acquisition cost of a subscribing customer is over $100. Hilarious that Virgin choose to destroy any chance of it over small discount, which they'll pay for anyway with the delivery redirection, restocking, etc.

    • Damn, so close

  • I still only have a pending payment on my paypal. Have never received any emails from virgin! Also when trying to log in say my account doesnt exist!

    • Yeah same for me. I imagine the pending charge will disappear after a couple more days.

  • +2

Order was "delivered" today with a signature, but nowhere to be found. No doubt Virgin changed the delivery address back to themselves without any notice.

    • same here lodged a query with aramex (doubt theyll respond)

      • +3

Will be raising a Paypal dispute tomorrow if I don't receive a satisfactory response to both the Aramex and VW enquiries. I have not received any other email communication from VW other than the order and shipping confirmations.

        • Lodged a PayPal dispute. More info down below.

          • @Chuppa: Called them and they said it had been sent back to the warehouse. They will refund after a call.

  • +5

This is up there with one of the worst business decisions I’ve ever encountered. They probably paid close to nothing for the wine and now they have to pay shipping and staff to undo everything. Well, Virgin Wines. I hope you’re happy cause you’ve upset a lot of people here.

  • +1

I still haven't received any communication from them after payment. So they've taken my money, then not delivered the product - then not saying anything about it.

While the non-delivery in transit was odd to begin with, the fact they haven't said anything for 3 business days so far, and just kept the money is next level shonky. Do they want us to raise credit card disputes on top of everything else?

    • +1

      Do it

  • +1

I received a generic email back to my "where's my delivery" contact form. Will be asking them to close my account and delete my details.

have them confirm in writing to cancel any subscriptions you signed up for - trial subscription to “Unlimited” and “Discovery Reds Wine Plan” (or appropriate plan)

      • I’ve asked that all customer data be deleted. They've come back with we're just going to refund you.

  • My first order was shipped back to the warehouse. On Monday, I contacted chat support and she doesn't know why it was returned so she placed another order for me. Got that delivered today, as well as an email saying my order was getting cancelled and refunded.

Would be a huge win of I got a refund as well!

  • +1

Order cancelled and wine shipped back to the seller. Have not yet received a refund.

Really odd decision from Virgin Wines, will not be shopping with them again.

    • +1

      Same here, same sentiment.

  • +1

A glimmer of hope, was on hold, now onboard for delivery due today, fingers crossed

    • My delivery had movements like that but was delivered to VW. Fingers crossed for your delivery though!

    • No show?

      • +1

        No show ☹️

  • Would those 14 wines worth the "full" price of $89? 🤔

    • Never

      • +1

Can you please elaborate why? For $6 per bottle, it still seems like an OK price.

  • Anyone that paid with a credit card get refunded yet?

    • Yes. Logged in to check my orders and one of the transactions was the refund, that also landed to my credit card.
