Price range? If you can afford this one there probably isn’t anything better short of 1k, could also look at the DF54. My Eureka Specialita was 500 new and I’m happy with it, but an extra 50 bucks for the DF64 is a no-brainer.
Others may be able to chime in with some hand grinder recommendations if you’re open to it, but that isn’t my wheelhouse.
As NedStark102 has said, for under $1k price range just go this, won't beat it and at <$600 is a genuine bargain. Good enough that any upgrades will provide minimum improvements until you start spending well over $1k.
I have the Bambino plus as well, it does a really good job, prob the best bang for $ machine. This would be a great pairing I think.
Important note: Grinders are more important than expresso machine as far as $ to quality coffee goes. Don't skimp on grinder. A bad grinder would make even a $3-5k machine pull a crap coffee. Also impacts consistency which then makes dialling in your espresso machine harder too.
If you can't stretch to this deal then consider a hand grinder. A good $350-400 hand grinder can compete with electric ones twice the price, take up a lot less bench space and much quiter but I'm not Gunna lie, it is less convenient work flow wise and a little elbow grease (finer the grind, harder it is too). Check out 1zpresso range and commodante as pretty good hand grinders. Better hand grinders also tend to be quicker to grind as they have larger and better burrs, better handle design etc (minebtkaes about 20-25seconds to do).
DF64 is one of the cheapest ways to get into a flat burr grinder. My recommendation is to look for a used DF64V if you can get it cheaper than a new DF64 Gen 2. I wouldn't really go for the original DF64 v1-v4, it has required quite a number of modifications throughout its life to fix all the design and usability issues. Think of the DF64 Gen 2 as the proper improved version after all the retrofits that the DF64 has experienced.
DF64V does not have the ioniser which the DF64 Gen 2 has. So that is a big plus for the DF64 Gen 2 as you don't have to spray water on the beans anymore.
Cheapest Eureka, or Silenzio
Looks like it’s sold out unfortunately, price is back to $990 for me
Looks like it was a price error. My order was cancelled.
Price error. Rep got back to me this price was meant to apply to the previous gen as per their eBay listing
Same, the order just got canceled
Order was just cancelled. Sadface
I messaged Alternative Brewing this morning asking if the discounted price can be applied as I've just missed out and was told this was an error as well. It was supposed to be for the DF64, not the Gen 2 model.
If anyone wants to try their luck. I contacted DF64coffee from the other deal via email and asked them to price beat their own Amazon offer as I told them it makes no sense for me to order directly from their website, where they claim their margins are higher, and so prefer people to buy directly from them. They have offered me the AU plug DF64 Gen 2 (black) with DLC burrs for AU$580, delivery included.
Hope this helps!
Pretty incredible deal although I'd be careful with off brand versions/if you need ever support. Unsure how certified they would be in australia too.
Do you know if they come with the dosing cup adaptor? Might be worth the risk
I am going to try this. AB told me that their grinders are sourced from Singapore from this website so their margins are not much.
Df64coffee is a known dealer for these, from my understanding they are from Singapore.
From my research, the grinder is manufactured by Ningbo Frigga Electric Appliance Co but then sold directly to dealers to put their own branding on top. These come under many different names like Coffee Tech, Turin, Raccea and more. Under the hood it's all the same product.
I'm not exactly sure what it comes with. I based my purchase based on the photo as seen on their website.
EDIT: just checked their website and it says accessories are: metal cup, collar, new burrs (I guess newer version from the old gen, doesn't matter much if you upgrade to a different set) and it's the metal switch version.
1 year warranty.
And they install and align the burrs for you if you choose other than the default stainless steel ones, although I'd be inclined to check alignment myself upon receiving it.
@ClioB - What colour metal cup is included though? Currently there seems to be 3 different colour versions, an all silver metal cup, an all black metal cup, and a black and silver 2 tone metal cup that’s mostly black with a silver strip along the top edge of the cup.
I just grind into the group handle then you don't need to worry about the dicky cup or colour of it. It will stay in the drawer ha.
It sounds like they are all v2 anyway so just get whatever is cheapest with best support.
This information isn't specified explicitly. I'm relying on the photo on their website, so I'm assuming a silver cup with a very slim black strip at the top? Maybe it's a rubber seal of some sorts.. I'm not sure. I would be able to tell you exactly after it arrives heh. I will challenge them if not as specified/not to my liking of course.
@ClioB: I believe the thin black strip you are referring to on the silver cup is in fact on the collar piece and not the actual cup?

This is what I'm expecting it to look like.
Also, I just received an update on my order with DHL express tracking so I would be able to give more exact details and feedback on my experience in a few days I assume :)
@ClioB: That’s the original silver metal cup that the DF64 gen 2 come with that you linked to, but now they have started randomly including other colour metal cups, there is an all black metal cup that one person said on here they received with their order, and there is also a black metal cup with a silver strip along the top edge (which matches the black and silver design of the machine) that I received direct from DF64 Coffee earlier this week, and I posted a photo of on the previous page in this thread:
And here is an internet stock pic of the other full black cup option:
@[Deactivated]: Oh, interesting! A bit of a roulette game going on eh? I'm not too fussed, although I like the silver cup contrast against the black body so I hope that's what I get
@ClioB: What's with the cup lol..
I don't think that's the main selling point of these 600$ machines.
@G-rig: The discussion about the dosing cup is to inform others of the change, some people might like it and some people may not. Like how I feel the plastic red and white on/off buttons look cheap and make the DF64 gen 2 appear less premium, I personally think the same about the silver metal cup, the silver cup looks a bit cheap due to how the rough texture stands out. The black metal cup with the silver strip at the top that I received with my DF64 Gen 2 order from DF64 Coffee earlier this week looks much nicer and makes the grinder look more premium than the silver metal cup does in my opinion… The black DF64 grinder is black with silver at the top, and it’s a nice touch to be given a matching metal cup that is also black with silver at the top.
@[Deactivated]: Yeah I get that but it's purely cosmetic, you should be worried about the motor and burrs. All these brands get glorified the more people go on about them on the forums.
Anyway it sounds like 580$ max is a good price for it. If you want premium (and smaller footprint) then get the DF64V.
@G-rig: I’m unsure why you have bothered responding and what you point even is? It sounds like you’re saying that nobody values and cares about the cosmetics of the grinder, only the performance of it, which is a ridiculous comment if you are. The cosmetics/aesthetic of it is important to many people as well, which is exactly why some people want the white model and others want the black model.
Why should I be worried about the motor and the burrs? I already knew what I was getting in this regard (the quality of the motor inside mine is no different to what anyone else has received, the metal measuring cup, and the power buttons certainly are different for some people who have purchased this product though, therefore it’s valid and relevant to mention and discuss it), the motor and burrs I received work just fine, and if I feel the need to upgrade the burrs at some point they are easy enough to purchase and change myself.
Where did I say I wanted a smaller footprint, haven’t said that anywhere at all? I don’t like the DF64V, I like the DF64 gen 2 hence why I bought it. However, since the product isn’t the same for everyone that’s bought it, and there has been some revisions to the product, I don’t think there is anything wrong with anyone that has chosen to buy it preferring and wanting the higher quality silver stainless steel on/off button over the cheap red and white plastic on/off buttons, or wanting to decide which colour metal cup they get with their grinder to best suit the look they want for it in their home if there is more than one colour option for the cup available which there clearly is.
@[Deactivated]: Dunno
Hopefully you ordered something anyway, fun fussing over the small stuff though.
God damn, order cancelled.
Damn :( got my cancellation email just now
Cheaper on Amazon anyway isn't it $580 vs $590, just order from there (or get a more common locally backed brand).
Anyone wanting to buy at this price can do so directly on the Chinese online shopping platform, and it won't take a week for it to be flown to Australia. The price is AU$516 and you'll also get electronic scales and other gadgets. Add GST and airfreight courier fees for about another $100 AUD.

Can anyone recommend an introductory grinder? My girlfriend recently went to a barista class and has decided shed like to pick something up but haven't got a clue where to start.
I recently got her a bambino plus, if that information is of any help.
