  • can i use this to renew?

    • +1

Typically these deals are only for new memberships. Renewals are done through the country you signed up for.

    • I received an unsolicited call from the malaysian team 1 month before my renewal date. I renewed through the call consultant for around this price (2 free stays and 20 status night bonus).

  • Risks?

      • +11

Except Accor hasn't owned Motel 6 for 12 years now.

          • +26

@jv: A law suite is where the partners have their offices isn't it?

  • +48

Good deal since Malaysia and Indonesia prices have gone up

    • I posted the Malaysia deal. For renewal I for a call from Accor Malaysia and they offered a renewal price of 50myr less than what I paid last year.

      Renews mine at MYR1150

    • +11

@genbel I love how you were upvoted and JV downvoted for the same comment.

      • +1

I only noticed that because of your comment. Take an upvote

      • +1

If you didn't do this already are you even an ozbargainer? JV is a big boy and he understands the game here hehe

        • I haven’t been as active in recent years, but I thought JV indicated they are female (apologies to JV if I am misremembering).

    • How much is it for indo?

Accor free nights getting harder and harder to use in the nicer hotels. LOTS of blocked out dates, weekends never available etc unless you book ages in advance.

    • +1

They probably only have 1 free night in one day. Last time I tried to book 2 rooms using 2 different cards, only managed to get 1.

    • Thanks I better try use mine. Didn’t realise if was getting harder

      • that's what she said.

    • Very hard to use it in Australia, but we found it very convenient and easy to use in S Korea and Japan.

    • Didn't have any issue getting free nights in Japan and vietnam

      • +3

Japan is ok value for some hotels - but surely you'd just be better off paying for a hotel in Vietnam as they'd work out cheaper?

    • Agree. Don’t do it.

    • Managed to use at Peppers Soul on goldcoast on a few months ago and it covered the most expensive night which was the Saturday night when the Sea Fire firework festival was on, knocked about 900 off the price of the 3 night stay, this also was only booked it 2-3 weeks in advance. So think its really YMMV depending on where you wanting to go, still can get pretty good value.

Do we need a Vietnamese phone number for signup?

      And Vietnamese address?

      • +22

        And Vietnamese wife?

        • +2

I'm an old vietnamese guy, does that count ?

          • +3

@tomleonhart: I ate a Banh Mi today, does that count?

            • +1

@Headless: Did you get it with chilli?

              • +1

@buckster: Sadly no, but i made up for it by asking for extra Pate, surprisingly many places in vic don't put pate in by default!

    • +3

Shouldn't. I have been using my Aussie number with Malaysia membership

      • did you renew? how? i tried mine and it didnt allow me to continue

        • Yea they charged me on the call. As they confirmed if I renew online, I will have to pay the new price.

          • @abs898: oh right, gotta ask for a call back instead of doing it online, got it, thanks

            • @cocomelon: Surprised they haven't called you yet, I wasn't on planning on renewing as ingor a free one via Amex but then they offered too good of a price.

      • Also using Aussie number with Malaysian membership.

  • Do we have to pay A$372?

    • +70

No, you can choose to ignore this deal if you wish.

      • +2

        Brilliant answer 🤣🤣🤣

    • +1

Did you think before asking this question?

  • $372 instead of the usual price of $399? Am I understanding that right?

    • +1

Accor Plus Explorer 1-Year VND6,100,000 (A$372) with 2 Stay Plus Free Nights (Normally 1) @ Accor Plus Vietnam (VPN Required)

    • +4

A$399 is the normal price via Accor Plus Australia but this only includes 1 free night

  • Is there a way to check what dates are available for Fee nights before signing up?

    • Yes, if you already have an account with a free night credit. Without it, no. The dates/hotels are very dynamic. They also sometimes have minimum length of stay rules. Best I can suggest is to look at which regions/hotels it is never allowed and see if the remaining ones are ok for you.

  • We only can claim stay plus one per year, right?

    • +4

No limit on how many you can claim per year. This membership you get 2 per year

      • -3

        https://imgur.com/dqimWQS

Seems like it not true, asked accor staff and get confirmed one night one time per year.

        • How are you otherwise supposed to use 2 nights when they both expire in a year?

If the chat is confusing you with AU membership that comes with only one night then sure.

Because if you don't use your free nights, they EXPIRE on a hard one year deadline

          • @abs898: I contact Australian support. No matter what offer you get, you ONLY can claim free stay one per year.

        • +1

This is because Andy here is asking as an Australian. The customer service rep is assuming that Andy has Aussie membership, which is one night per year.

VPN to Vietnam and ask as a Viet member. The answer will be 2 nights. However important to note that the 2 nights can't be back-to-back nights. If you book 3 nights, the first and the last night can be free and you only pay for one night. Otherwise separate booking.

Source - been using Indonesian one for a few years.

          • @Mr Frodo: My question is about to focus on how many times we can claim free stay plus per year. The outcome is only one. Others guy confused me that we can claimed it as many as we want within a year.

            • +1

@Andy Nguyen: Alright man you win.

We have been wasting our time by using 2 nights a year for years now.

            • +2

@Andy Nguyen: Booked and used both free stay nights in 2023. I'll be using another 2 stay nights in 2024.

You can use accor plus stay nights back to back, however only in separate bookings. Accor has the right to cancel as per t&c.

      • +1

Idiot here. Just to clarify, at the very minimum if you dont use the accor plus benefits (ill google that after this) this is like paying 372 for a 2 night stay?

        • +1

          Correct.

2 x 1 free stay plus night at accor plus properties. Sofitel is probably the highest tier hotel that accepts stay nights.

As with any perk, it depends on availability.

The other big perk of membership is 50% off dine-in food at specific accor property restaurants (min 2 people dining).

I.e. breakfast at sofitel queenstown was $45 per person ($90 for 2). I paid $45.

          • +1

            @hypie: Thanks Rick.
2-nights can be consecutive or gotta do 2 separate 1-night bookings?

Just read below sometimes its hit and miss being accepted or cancelled. Thats a risk.

            • @txb: 2 separate 1 night bookings unfortunately.

You can only redeem 1 stay plus night at a time. Therefore if you are staying 5 nights, 1 would be free/discounted.

As with any perk, it depends on availability. To give you an idea of availability.

I was looking at Perth hotels last weekend, using stay plus the Novotel Murray Street went from $250 to $20 with a stayplus night redemption.
Use 2 nights and you have covered your membership fee.

Best bang for buck is using them at the more expensive hotel chains (Mgallery, sofitel etc), we don't have anything fancy in WA except pullman bunker bay down south.

I like to think of the membership covering 2 $200 nights that I would pay for anyway. The cheap food is the real perk, Unfortunately Perth CBD accor restaurants are meh.

    • +1

      you can use both.

but the rule is you cannot claim at the same hotel for 2 consecutive nights.

      • can I book different hotel in different city next day?

        • +1

you can book even in the same city but different hotel

      • do they cancel the 2nd inght if you do seperate booking?

        • They cancelled mine although I’ve read some people had success calling to combine the nights. Probably depends on the hotel and the personnel managing the reservations.

      • I was able to book 2 nights via 2 bookings, and reached out to the hotel to make a note and combine them
They were generous enough to do it

  • Can we use the free nights for the new Melbourne airport Novotel?

    • You can. I saw this as free stay option in the lead up to it's opening.

      • Thank you.

  • Can the nights be booked consecutively ?

    • No you can't use the 2 free stay consecutively unfortunately.

      • +1

You can make 2 seperate bookings and ask the hotel to combine. Of course it will be dependent on their generosity

        • You possibly could but it would go against the T&Cs. Will depend on the hotel but you'll want to get it confirmed before you arrive. I remember reading somone's story where at check-in the staff noticed that the guest tried to do this and wouldn't let the person use the stay for consecutive stay despite the booking.

          • @happyadventurer: Correct. I did mine over email and had no issues but there's always a risk

        • Why would you want to combine it in the first place? is there an advantage?

          • @txb: To stay 2 consecutive nights for free?

          • @txb: Save you from packing up your luggage. And checking in and out a hotel room - you risk having nowhere to rest if you don't have any plan between the check out and check in time

  • +1

When does these sorts of deals expire usually?

  • Anyone able to help me to see if we can claim free night fairmont or raffles singapore on 3Feb 2025? Thanks

    • +1

Fairmont is $47 using free night
      Raffles free night not available

      • Thank you

  • Assuming there is availability, what is the best hotel to use the free nights … location can be anywhere

    • +1

Generally best bang for buck will be a resort. My favourite free stay so far has been the Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua. Combined with bali prices + 50% breakfast buffet/resturant, you're winning! In most cases the free stay can only be used for the lowest/standard type of room for that resort/hotel. If you want a better/bigger room then you'll need to pay some additional money on top of using the stay.

      • I cant fathom staying at a 5* and you still needing to pay for food there. Mate, you should look into staying at Samabe down the road

        • +3

Not sure what you are going on about mate. All-inclusive resorts are different to normal resorts. You're paying effectively $186 through this deal to stay at the Sofitel when normally it cost $300+. Samabe is about twice the cost due to the all inclusive component so you are paying for the food still within the cost of the stay.

          • @happyadventurer: Not sure if you have thoroughly factored that full board, accommodation, a premium signature activity combined with cashback and any status advantage with your booking provider. its about 400 pp/pd from memory but individually that blows out past 600.

        • all inclusive packages at 5* are the exception rather than the norm, and will charge you much more than the dining cost them. 50% off accor plus dining is a great deal provided you pick the good restaurants

          • @May4th: True, but whats better than 50% off? not eating at that resort (or just getting Grab delivered meals). Then why stay at the resort if you dont want to pay resort price? because we're ozbargainers.

            • @txb: totes agree, I usually detest eating at the hotel, much cheaper authentic local food. but sometimes you are just too knackered to go out or need a staycation. some good deals like seafood buffets for 40$pp after discount still worthwhile

    • Lol

    • +1

The most expensive one you can find. Sofitel Darling Harbour seems to be most peoples go to as a lot of the super fancy ones (eg Mt Lofty House) now have a min stay.

Personally I use mine for a Saturday night at a local hotel I think is nice but overpriced.

      • Looked at both banyan trees and raffles but they appear excluded or have 3 min nights :(

The Sofitel does not interest me, thanks though.

  • The memberships are pretty much a scam, ive been on Gold status for over 2.5 years and I have never been able to get the following perks: early check in, late check out or room upgrade……always its "sorry not available, its subject to availability", 2.5 years of trying, not once got it…

    • The problem is due to 'selling' the membership or giving it away cheap - everyone now has Status….so no one gets benefits.

    • Contrary to my experience, as gold I have gotten late checkouts and upgrades more times than not. Early check in is variable, depending on occupancy.

    • I've gotten perks a couple of times - some needed a bit of… encouragement.

Got upgraded in Singapore on a free night without asking.

In Toulouse, asked for an early check-in and they wanted 40 Euro. Had to remind them that early check-in was a perk of gold status (and they had just admitted it was available), and they gave us early check in for free. No additional perks though.

  • I have an expired Accor Plus membership. Can i buy this?
