Yep, looks like it stacks. Mine was due to expire in November but I just purchased another 12 month membership and now it shows it will expire in November 2025. The extra two months will come as a code later apparently.
Does it say anything during the purchase?

what is this subscription used for?
Online play, cloud saves, some DLC expansions like the Mario Kart one, and access to a library of classic games (NES, SNES, Gameboy for the regular subscription, plus N64, GBA, Sega Genesis on the Expansion Pack)

I forget - does the time stack with existing months remaining? I think mine ends in October, so if it doesn't stack, I'd be losing 2 months to get 2 months!
