Few Citizen Tsuyosa's at reduced (ATL?) prices as part of the 1 Day StarDeal + Weekend Flash Sale.

NJ0151-88L Blue Dial: https://starbuy.com.au/citizen-tsuyosa-mens-automatic-watch-…
NJ0150-81A White Dial: https://starbuy.com.au/citizen-tsuyosa-mens-automatic-watch-…
NJ0150-81E Black Dial: https://starbuy.com.au/citizen-tsuyosa-mens-automatic-watch-…

I've seen good feedback on the dials and overall looks, but some people are annoyed at the impracticality of the crown and inflexibility of integrated bracelets. Nice watch at this price imo. May see further reductions on Tsuyosa's if the Forza Super Titanium models become readily available.

Been waiting for deal on these until I saw NJ0180-80M

Yep that new line looks great, definitely on my watchlist ;)

Yeah these are pretty cheap now, agree with you about the crown, it's bloody annoying to try to use. I originally ordered a white one but sent it straight back due to the crown (and the gloss white did nothing for the watch). Definitely need a colour that pops, yellow and turquoise is the best, the blue is cool too as it's the only one with texture.

I got the small seconds model, some worthwhile improvements to the movement and crown, no date so much easier and quicker to set the time. I'd wait until those are under $450. Still a bit chunky and blingy but the dials are fantastic.

I wouldn't worry about the integrated bracelet, that is the intended look and wouldn't swap straps.

The titanium one looks cool, still too $$.

  • Any suggestions for how to remove the cyclops on the Tsuyosa? Got one a while back but I think the watch would look a lot cleaner without the cyclops.

Dunno, it's pretty common/standard i'd just youtube it. Or take to a watch maker.

I actually like it so you can at least read the time. It may look a bit plain/odd without it. I only have one watch with a cyclops and don't mind it at all (mini turtle)

  • Love my NJ0151-88L (blue textured dial) that got same price at last Starbuy sale.

Was a bit disappointed with the dial initially, then got it outside in some decent light and it really pops.

Band works fine, although would look nice on a leather band as well. There are options out there to mix up the bands, but would be cheaper and easier if wasn't fixed style. Advantage is though that band design makes the case hug the wrist and sit very well under a sleeve, belying it's 11.7mm height.

Only disappointing aspect for these Tsuyosas is the lume - pretty weak and doesn't sustain for very long. If outstanding lume is what you're after though, that's what justifies adding an inexpensive Steeldive to your collection :-).

Mini-review of my thoughts on it in this thread www.ozbargain.com.au/node/853855.

  • Series 8 looks nice

    • That's Grand Seiko category.

    What watches increase in Value?
I see heaps on here, but am unsure if its for general wear or for collecting

    • +2

Heaps here is just for using as a watch. Rarely would any watch increase in value, unless it was owned by a famous person, or was iconic and you kept it in pristine condition for 30-50 years.

      • Thanks!

You’re usually lucky if they hold value at this price bracket - decent resale value watches if bought at a good discount would be models like 911 and 813 from Seiko- or classics like prx powermatic 80 which don’t really ever go out of fashion and have decent mass appeal. I often kick myself didn’t grab a sarb033 a few years ago.

      • PRX seems to be lowering used sales prices due to recent citizen releases. Really a gamble. Also 813's speedtimers are going for less than $400 used regularly. So even the ones you mentioned would not even get your money back.

yeah mate i was too late to the party with the sarb033, skx007 etc.
Still wouldn't pay more than what they cost at the time though, the specs weren't even that great just iconic designs.

I think if you buy these modern watches at ripper prices, keep the box etc you can still get 70% back. None of them are appreciating items unless vintage/rolex etc that people may have bought at the right time. No watch is too good to wear is the main thing!

    • Typically limited / collaboration editions, country exclusive models can increase in value.

Like the manga style G-Shock 2100MNG. Sold out everywhere and being resold for $600+ within a month. I was lucky enough to import both for $190 each from Japan before they sold out.

    • Watches that most of us here cannot afford. If you are lucky and inherit a watch from a grandparent who bought an old Rolex, maybe. Watches aren't a good investment strategy.

    • For a watch to increase in value it needs to be both greatly desirable and difficult to acquire. The latter can be due to a the watch being a limited edition or due to demand outweighing supply.

The same goes for pretty much everything.

  • I think the small / flat crown might only become a problem for people with large hands / fingers.

    • go and have a look in store and report back!
