Can be used with any SDS Hammer Drill.

    and

Must not be used in Hammer mode, only Drill mode.

"It's a bold strategy Cotton… let’s see if it pays off for them."

  • I Purchased (because it’s a great deal) and thanks for the tip, I wouldn’t have known not to use the hammer function with this

So… I have a drill and have a hammer drill. Unsure why I’d use this and not just pull out my normal drill?

Is it just a backup in case my SDS drill bits break?

I’m trying to figure out the use case (I’m doing a lot of work around the place at the moment)

There are very limited use cases for a SDS > chuck adaptor.

99.999% of the time anyone with a SDS hammer drill will have several regular non hammer drills or impact drivers at their disposal to use instead.

The only reason I can think of is when bolting a big wall climb, and for some reason you need to drill into timber part way through the climb. I doubt that that would ever happen, and if it did you would just bring a small compact drill.

There is a reason that it is heavily discounted. They are struggling to move stock.

well, when you need something more powerful than the standard drill, a sds hammer drill usually have better current rating than their normal drill counterpart. You'll know this when try using spade drill bit on hardwood.

      • Thanks, might return but also $24.80…. So might just keep it

    • In case you need two drills, as I sometimes do, one to drill the hole one size for a particular fastener, then another size for another, saves mucking about with bit changes. and using a chuck key takes me back in time :) I have a cheap Aliexpress version and have used it a few times. Sure you can buy another drill and if i needed it often I would, this suffices, just click the SDS to drill only mode.

For any low speed, high torque applications, this is where these SDS type drills excel having the slower/lower geared drilling speed and in most cases, having a higher power output.

Using them for any type of paddle/spiral mixers, larger holes saws, any coring type bits, auger bits, spade bits.

        Good to know, cheers

  • These break super easily. Mine broke just tightening the chuck

    • really ? I have a cheap Aliexpress imitation and have used it maybe a 1/2 dozen times and its worked fine, I has assumed the genuine bosh would be better and maybe I should replace it wihj this ?

Been a long time since I have seen a chuck key.
    I don't miss losing them.

  • Great find, thanks!

    • Cheers - updated the post.
