Price in title. What is upfront cost after $1800 "savings"?

    • +3

Definitely confused me too, but I can confirm I saw in store that it was $1800 off any of the Galaxy Z fold 6's.

So the 256gb version is $2749 outright minus the $1800 making it $949 out of pocket.

      • +3

Not worth it as you still have to pay $99 over 2 years ($2,376)

Who is buying these phones when they are super fragile?

Miss the days when they used to give you the phone for free on most plans.

        • +4

Using the flips and folds from past 4 years now. Had no issues whatsoever.
          Haven't upgraded to Fold6 though.

          • -5

@Crustydumpling: Oh, well you must be either super careful or hardly using it, I used the Fold 5 for a little while and couldn't stand it, just the whole idea of folding and unfolding it and the small front screen didn't do it for me.

But my cousin was using the flip 4 and changed the screen twice in two years, heavy user though.

        • The phone was never free, it was just built into the cost of the plan. They're just getting people to pay some up front and some as part of the plan now.

You really have to look at the total cost of outright purchase + a prepaid SIM vs. The total outlay of one of these plan deals.

It's always been cheaper to buy a phone outright and then go on a prepaid plan. It's just a matter of having the money up front.

I've added a table showing all the calculations

      • +1

Thankyou I posted the deal from my phone so only included the one calculation

    • +1

I did include that in the description. $949 for 256gb

  • +29

    This is not a bargain.

  • +2

$1000 for the phone considering its $2799 retail and $2376 minimum cost.

    Only worth it if:
You need a lot of data
Don't have cash upfront, considering the phone was $1600 range via Samsung pre order.

  • +2

Price match or beat amazon @ $2589 = $789 upfront

  • Sadly my plan is only $19/mon, can't afford such expensive plan.

  • $1800 off the flip6 as well.

      Any iPhone deals

      • Nothing currently.

  • Whats the best way to move to another provider / cheapest
"Available to port-in and new customers only (excluding JB Upfront/Prepaid, The Good Guys Mobile & Broadband, Telstra or Boost"
So i can port back in?

I am in the market for a new phone, and was getting pretty close to just buying an s24 ultra outright so doing some math to see which leaves me better off

  • +1

Is it not $1000 for the phone and another$800 if you decide to cancel it early?

  • If they had trade in bonuses and etc to combine with then worth thinking about

    • It's not the greatest deal for sure. Probably more suited to people who can't afford the full upfront cost of the phone.

      • +1

I respectfully disagree with that comment. If you can't afford $1-2k upfront for a phone, it would be just as crazy to sign up to a deal like this.

  • -3

You also get a $900 voucher for signing up to the $99 plan don't you? That's what it has on this page: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/pages/upfront-mobile-plans

    So if i'm interpreting it correctly it's $1800+$900 = $2700 in vouchers.

    • +2

      They do not stack.

    • +1

There is a clause on both offers, stating

      • This offer is not available in conjunction with any other JB Hi-Fi mobile or broadband offer or Trade-in coupon offer
      • Ahhh yea, i see it now. Either way not the best deal out there, but at least it's something

    • unfortunately you are not interpreting it correctly :(

  • 24 mths $99 contract gets you a Free Samsung Flip 6 (256GB). Great deal for Salary Sacrifice or Tax Deduction.

    OzRRP

    • The RRP of the phone includes a mobile plan with 300gb of data? Can you share the link please

Obviously its not for everyone. Some people don't mind having a phone on contract and paying it off over 24 or 36 months.

I'm not one of those people but they do exist.

You pay upfront and you get the best deals….

  • -7

Damn bro if you can afford almost 3 grand for a mobile phone, please tell me you at least give to charity on a regular basis.

    • I can't I paid $1200 through the pre-order and it's replacing a flip 2. So I tend to get my money's worth out of phones.

  • 3 bands is wild for a phone

  • This is a not a deal.

    • +1

Then the best course of action is to report and have it removed.

      I sincerely apologize for sharing.

  • I wish they would just give out the gift card as normal to buy anything in store. $1800 inflated for a way overpriced phone. $3299 is like 3 normal laptops.

  • -1

Seems like a lot to pay for a phone that has a plastic screen with a crease right in the middle of it.

    • +1

Actually sir it is highly-engineered, extra thin Corning Gorilla Victus glass.

But yes it does have a crease in it.

      • I don’t think I could ever use the phone and not think about it immediately. Kinda ruins it. When the tech gets good enough that there is no crease, I’ll bite,

        • I got used to the crease in my flip pretty quickly but yeah it's probably not for everyone

          • @creesy: Agree, this is not for everybody and specs wise a downgrade from Ultra, but if you need a bigscreen and cant carry a tablet along all the time, this makes sense. Personally anything over 1000 to 1200 bux is already paying a super premium.

            • @[Deactivated]: I paid $1300 after discounts which makes it the cheapest foldable on the market (I probably would have drawn the line at $1500). I'd say its specs are in line with other phones in the $1000-1500 range (except for the bigger screen).

  • Anyway of getting this on a cheaper monthly plan with a higher upfront cost? Similar to what Harvey Norman was offering with their Optus plans on the Fold 6.

  • Just got my Fold 6 today and coming from a Fold 2, man o man, this phone is so sleek, light and slim compared to my once beloved now brick-like phone form factor.

Any good (great) magnetic + Spen case combo out there? Genuine or otherwise?

  • Used fold 3 for 3 months, didn't touch ipad mini while using fold. But I couldn't carry in my night pants. Back to mini phones.

  • +1

3k for a phone is crazy
