It was $100 last year with good guys if I am correct. But not a bad price.

Same. Got it around that price. Has been very useful.
At this price, I'd probably pay more and go for one that can be converted to a carpet cleaner too.

On one hand I'm surprised people still have carpet floors instead of wooden. But there's also rugs.

I bought this like two years ago from one of the deals here. It stayed sealed in its box until two weeks ago when I spilled red wine on my black fabric couch and grey rug underneath. Took half an hour of cleaning with this and it all came off. Lucky, I had it sitting at home. The stain would have settled by morning if I waited.

I’m surprised people still have fragile timber floors instead of durable polished concrete floors.

    • I have timber floors in your bedroom? We have carpet as it was much cheaper, and much more comfortable. Unrelated, I use this on my car, couch and rugs.

  • Can anyone recommend if this is any good to purchase for cleaning a car and not just a fabric couch? If not, can anyone recommend a different model/version?

    • +4

I own one. It's useful for cleaning "spot stains" from fabric, that's it. I use it once every 18m at best.

      IMO don't buy one.

    • I used it on my car carpets and it worked well. I have kids so they were caked with lollies, drinks, chocolate etc (yes kids and carpet).
It works well on small areas which is good for cars as you don't have much room. I use it to spot clean house carpet as well and it works. For the price I recommend it. There are better versions but they are more expensive, so I am happy to use this twice a year or in an emergency.
It will not clean a whole carpeted room, the nozzle is too small.

      • Could you completely clean fabric seats in a car or are there better options?

        • I reckon you could clean seats easily. I do heavy carpet with a bit of back and forth. It's $143 - better options as in price or performance?

I bought this from the Good Guys Commercial for $154

      Vax Platinum SpotWasher
      https://www.thegoodguyscommercial.com.au/vax-platinum-spotwa…

Did my whole car internals but the hose could be longer.

        • It's not about the electricity, it's about getting to places with the nozzle where the hose is too short.

          • @bboz: ok. on another note, I did not request that comment to be unpublished.

            • +1

              @redpen: That's weird

              • @bboz: yes. all it said was use an extension chord. Anyway. I have that Vax spotwasher - my sweet old cat.

      • How does it compare?

    • +2

I use it specifically to detail clean the car with cloth seats, dash mat, floors, etc once every several months.

The car is driven a lot with pets, road trips, hiking, sand from the beach etc.

The amount of dirty extracted, especially after hiking, is pretty gross when poured out of the cleaner. The Bissell shampoo works a charm.

Best to do it on warm and dry days and it is very loud - enough to damage hearing in a confined space. I wear ear protection whenever it gets used.

    • Shop vac and a 5 ltr garden pressure sprayer.

  • Bought one at tgg (price matched with Godfrey closing down clearance sale price)
Used it only once.. it was good and handy to have for this price

They are amazing: my puppies peed all over the carpeted areas and this was a life saver.

Also, my little one used to vomit/ throw food everywhere and this worked like magic

    • Likewise, used this to clean the dog's "accident" and it did the job really well.
      Quite impressed with it.

  • How much effort/pia would it be to clean an whole rug (2x2) or a runner (1.5 x .5) using this?

    • a big one

    • Probably an hour or so. Depending on thickness of the rug. The more water you spray on - the more time you want to vacuum.

  • is there any warranty?

    • The "AutoMate" I have has 2 years.

I only realised this after buying this and checking for the box for my current unit.. 😅

Purchased Jan last year. Wonder if I just take it back to Supercheap for a replacement unit. I thought this one was better for pet stains because of the "heatwave technology" to keep the water put in, warm. I was also wrong from reading the box.. 😅 The more expensive "AutoMate" model has it aswell. I believe this may be if not, very close to the base model for the "SpotClean" range..

Get this at The Good Guys Commercial, if you have access - $154 but with AU plug and warranty.

I have it and it works well. Used it for my puppy's wees and poos. Also used it to totally refresh my cars upholstery… carpets, seats, etc. Though to be fair the hose could be longer… but in the end it does work.

How do these compare to the Kmart $99 units?

    • Kmart unit has a 400 watt motor, this is only 330, although that doesn't directly correlate to suction power, its the main indicator.

  • I got one of these, followed directions re: liquid cleaner amounts, regardless it still discolored our carpets.

These things are awesome if you have dogs or kids.

  • Power cord? Really?
