Braun Series 9 Pro+ $389 ($379 for eBay Plus) Delivered @ ShaverShop eBay

I found myself looking for an electric shaver recently, as my trusty Phillips is around 12 years old now and it was time for an upgrade (last shaving head is a bit dull, but I do not want to buy another one as it is a pretty average shaver).

It goes without saying, shaver choice is to some extent individual, but most users report that they achieve the best results with foil shavers. Best players on the market are Panasonic and Braun, with Panasonic traditionally offering the closest shave at the expense of comfort and Braun offering the most comfortable shave at the expense of close shave. I personally have sensitive skin so opted for Braun.

With Braun the best offers are Series 8 and 9. But 8 is a glorified series 5, and 9 is objectively better in most aspects. Series 9 is the most comfortable Braun shaver which is able to handle the flat lying hair the best. Now series 8 could be had for around $260 on Amazon AU during Prime deals with a cleaning station, and I probably would have bought that but was a bit late for that feast. But now I think it was probably for the best as the Series 9 is just so much better.

Braun currently offers 5 years warranty with product registration and money back guarantee if you are not happy (I think, within 60 days but double check that if it is important for you). I should also add that 9 Pro+ is currently the newest Braun series 9 shaver, but all series 9 models performance is about the same.

With the codes most people should either have $20 off on Plus (my account had $20 off $100 purchase as well as $20 off $200 purchase, both were applicable and both were one off codes) and non plus members should be able to use the $10 off. I wish the codes were a bit better, would make an even better deal. As usual combine with cashback (which will probably not work with the codes - ha-ha) and discounted gift cards.

PS they advertise 2 business day delivery but it may take a bit longer depending on your luck.

Original Coupon Deal

PS The $10 off expired but Plus members should still have their $20 off. And the full price is still not too bad as it is 40% off by Shaver Shop. Alternatively, order directly from ShaverShop and get your $10 off like that.

I had one of these and it really wasn't that great.

I replaced it with this one and it shaves so much closed to the skin I feel.

Closeness of the shave is not the feature of this shaver, if that was my priority I would have bought Panasonic Arc 5 or 6. The greatest feature is the comfort, it is very gentle to the skin.

As a follow up - you can get a new boxed pack of that single/dual foil shaver + trimmer combo for around 130USD + 35USD shipping from Ebay if anyone is indeed interested in that setup.

It does take 4-6 weeks [mine is arriving tomorrow].

I bought an Arc 5 as my first shaver, however I preferred a trim look - so only used it's afterthought trimmer.

Been monitoring price on the 9 but think I’ll favour one with the cleaning station 👍🏻 $100 more
Like you my existing shaver head is ready to be replaced and I’m thinking just go new

    • Yes, wanted to include that as well. Also is a good deal.

  • Philips 360 or nothing.

  • I bought this in Nov 2023 as per this deal.
I agree with the comments - very comfortable shave, but not actually the closest. I had no problems with skin sensitivity so it was wasted on me.
If I had my time again I'd go for the other options mentioned above.
Don't get me wrong - still a very nice shaver.

What shaver did you have before this? I’ve got a series 7 (from memory) and find it shaved very close but have some skin irritation/ingrows from time to time but appreciate individual hair plays a role in that

        Sorry, completely missed this.
I just had a cheap Philips aquatouch from many years ago. Gave me a nice shave though was quite rough (pulling hair) near the end and battery eventually went.

      What about sack?

      • urchins.

  • "Braun currently offers 5 years warranty" this great because all 3 of my Braun battery fail spectacularly around 1 1/2 year.

But then again my Pana arc 5 also suddenly fail just shy of 2 years.

Since Panasonic fail I just go back and use my 5 blade manual shave from aldi which buy for my father when he visit. So far 1 1/2 years later still have 2 head left out of 5 pack not bad for $15 stuff.

    • I checked with Braun over the phone and, apparently, the warranty on electric shavers only covers 2 years… Can you share the source where it says " 5 years", please?

  • Great shaver imo. Had one for 6-7yrs now, no complaints.

  • I wouldn't say the series 9 is worth it over the 8 for cheaper

    • Why not?

Key Improvements in the Series 9:
Additional Cutter: The Series 9 boasts four cutters compared to the Series 8's three, resulting in enhanced performance for capturing longer, wirier, and cross-directional hairs.
Improved Efficiency: The extra cutter contributes to a faster and more efficient shave, especially for those with thicker or coarser hair.
Quieter Operation: The Series 9 is generally considered quieter than the Series 8, offering a more pleasant shaving experience.
I usually get a shaver for at least 5-10 years and I shave almost every day. $100 over 3000 shaves? Pretty easy for me to decide.
After all, one should simply decide if additional costs justifies the improvements. The cheapest 8 I was able to find recently was $260 (with a cleaning station but I don't care about that). The cheapest Series 9 was $379, which makes an $119 or around 30% price difference. Is it 30% better? Probably not. Can one get anything better than series 9 for similar or higher price? I don't think so.

I was thinking of the Series 9 over my 13 year old Series 7. Then I saw this video comparing the two with real life usage and stuck with my reliable Series 7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5ZAfRAS1g8

    • Old series 7 is great, but you can no longer buy it.

    • On the same boat. Still chugging on my oldie but goodie series 7 as well.
Some reviews says new series 7 are not as good either.

  • Check this out before making a purchase - very detailed article

I settled for a Series 8 and have been happy with it. Also around the same price and includes the cleaning station.

    https://www.shavershop.com.au/braun/series-8-latest-generati…

    • Yes, I read that site extensively. Just as I said in original post, Series 8 was $260 on Amazo AU during prime deals. So, in any case, Series 9 is a lot more expensive. But to me the added comfort and ability to work with flat hair justifies it. But in terms of the price of the Series 9 alone, this seems to be the ATL.

    • I'll leave this here in case anyone is in the market for one, not sure if you need a membership to buy online.

      https://www.costco.com.au/c/Braun-Series-8-Shaver-For-Men-5-…

      • Yes, you do need membership. Besides, as pointed out was only $260 on Amazon recently. Hard to justify this price.

  • The version with the cleaning station and battery case was down to $450 on the ebay store not long ago ($500 with a $50 discount voucher). Kinda kicking myself for not getting it but I was only just starting to look at electric shavers at the time so wasn't ready to drop that kind of cash.

    • Well you can find stations individually. I am sure you can find a sweet deal on it if you wait long enough.

    • Not sure Battery case is worth it
Reports say it is bulky for travel
