Seems like a good price for the 18V Makita SDS hammer drill, which comes with the quick change steel chuck for standard bits. Local places have this for ~$500, and the DHR242Z which I think is the same drill without the extra chuck for ~$430.

The Camels say Amazon AU had this slightly cheaper on one occasion earlier this year but other than that this looks like a good deal if you don't mind missing out on the local warranty support.

Note the downside is this won't be eligible for local Makita warranty support or extended warranty registration.

No shock joint at the top of the handle like Milwaukee, Bosch etc.
Fine for small guage drilling but fatigue inducing and painful to control when using as a mini jack hammer.

Anyone seen a review on this particular unit? I may be mistaken but the ergonomics may be a drawback

  • I own this product, 10/10, exceeds my expectations for a tool used daily.

  • Having a removable chuck is a nice touch, I can see that coming in handy occasionally.

I was able to price beat this at Bunnings.

    • That's a good effort, I didn't think Bunnings would actually price-beat Amazon. Was it a battle to get them to do it?

Not at all - I did it through their customer service number and got a written quote before going into store to pick it up and pay.
