Its the old hogs breath building outside the officeworks and harvey norman

      I miss Hogs Breath.

      • Yeah me too. Really dont understand how management can run down these iconic restaurants.

The food just wasn't nice at the Chadstone location so they never had sufficient business.

Smorgy's, Red Rooster and Hog Breath. Senior management of these companies should all be eradicated out and people who actually want the management jobs and for the company to do well, put into these positions.

        • I also miss Denny's (let's see who's old here ;)

          • @Mondorock: Hahaha never heard of Denny's. I think my experience stops with Smorgy and Sizzler

            • @Fuzor: They first opened in 1982 in Melbourne. There used to be a location on Albert Park lake (which later became "The Keg").

              • @Mondorock: Just read it up. Very interesting that it was run by Ansett Australia.

        • Red Rooster? They changed management nearly 10 years ago and have really cleaned up their act. Introduced an entirely new menu, renovated their stores etc. They're actually really good now and have been good for several years.

          • @Ghost47: I'll give you the context to this deal. Grill'd opened this drive through restaurant only in response to the enormous success of the GYG across the road. Now that GYG actually opened in the exact position that was the former Chadstone Red Rooster - which got ran into the ground and never had any customers.

So you tell me if there are serious issues with that chain or not. People were literally commenting on OZB about them being a money laundering business as they hardly have sufficient customers for the space they occupy.

I saw those comments and I should've actually replied to them. Have you seen the comments from people who've commented saying that Red Rooster's fried chicken is better than KFC's? It's silly (but really not unsurprising sadly) to say that RR is dying because they closed one store. I suspect that most people who bash RR haven't actually stepped foot in their stores in 20 years to be able to say those kinds of things. And will you look at that, here's a reddit thread from Google proving my point, someone claims RR should shut down completely yet they admit they haven't actually had their food since they were a kid and basically all of the replies are from people saying RR is actually good because they've actually eaten there recently. And here's another thread.

In case you didn't know (and I don't expect most people to know this) a McDonald's exec actually joined Red Rooster nearly 10 years ago and the business has really worked hard to turn itself around since then, yet it it still can't escape these ignorant comments from people who clearly haven't visited their stores in years. These comments bashing RR are so weird, if RR collapses that'll mean less choice for consumers but hey, at least some people can feel good about themselves because that fast food joint they assumed was masquerading as a money-laundering front collapsed, what a cause for celebration.

I don’t know how Grilld drive thru will work, considering it takes them 10mins when you order inside the restaurant normally

Hopefully it’s not like Guzman across the road because their drive thru is bonkers, and their pick up system is so stupid

    • I’m going to guess that they’ll have a setup similar to Macca’s where they’ll keep burger patties in warmers etc. if they want to serve customers quickly. I’ll be surprised if they cook it on the spot like they normally do though.

What’s wrong with their drive thru? Never been or eaten at GYG.

If it’s anything like my local GYG, the drive thru queue is ridiculously long during peak times and if you order on the app, it makes you choose a pick up time, which can almost never be met due to the drive thru queues. No other fast food joint makes you pick a time. You just rock up and check in.

        • Oh interesting, that sounds like a pain.

They are pretty much selling cost price for the burger at $7

    • -2

Lol you reckon it costs $7 to make a burger?

  • Ran out of free burgers within the hour even though they’re still handing out free burger cards. Massive line of cars. $7 burgers only.

    • I call BS that they moved 754 burgers in the first hour. This company cannot be trusted.

    • Was the line of cars snaking onto Warrigal Rd? I'm surprised they sold out of 754 in an hour! It must've been really busy.

Can't see anywhere that says 1 burger per person. The first person there must have ordered 754 burgers lol. Also, why 754? I need answer.
