Coles gets their liquor from liquorland. Coles also has terrible inventory management system. If you can find a bottle of alcohol that is oos at the liquorland, but is in stock on Coles online, you can add it to your cart, get the $75 off. When you go pickup your groceries, the alcohol will be oos but you still get the $75 discount, so free groceries.
Any tips in filtering the Liquorland website to find OOS items?
@jdizzles: My suggestion is to look at whats in stock on Coles first, start with the most expensive items and then just match it with Liquorland.
@jdizzles: My coles account was closed last round of discounts after doing this twice.
What's worse was my flybuys account (with a fair whack of credit ~$250 aud) in the same name + address and used in the transactions was also cancelled at the same time.
Your payment method is charged the full amount, takes about a week for them to refund you for the missing alcohol (depending on your payment provider, could be quicker - mine took about a week each time). The outgoing online payment goes to the local store and refunded from a corporate account in VIC.
After speaking with the team when my accounts were closed, they explained there is a process to reconcile refunds for missing items and someone makes a decision as to whether you have gamed the system and it's their discretion to either adjust the refund amount etc or alternatively ban you from continuing to do business. Professing innocence doesn't work either.
YMMV of course.
@MorriJ: theres nothing stopping you from just opening another coles account. but yes, i've had multiple accounts banned.
@abetastic: I can't do online orders any more in my real name and my payment method and my real address - I tried a 2nd account with a different email, get an error after logging in and selecting a store for c&c and it signs me out.
I can grab a new payment method and give fake address of course.
The flybuys account being canned was the kicker for me.

No need to use your real name for Coles online account I guess. When they check ID its only for the age and not the name
@MorriJ: appreciate you sharing this with us. besides it being an interesting anecdote about the possible repurcussions of gaming the system, you've likely saved many people/lurkers from a lot of pain by attempting the same feat unknowingly with their real accounts and risk losing their main longstanding flybuys + coles account.
You should probably not publicize this if you want it to continue working.
When they are genuinely on special + 20%, off you can get some bargains but you have to have a laugh at the shenanigans with the regular prices. Eg Glenfiddich 12, $75 regular price last week (and most times), $99 this week. Will be back to $75 regular in a month guaranteed then while later some other crazy price. Dalhwinnie 15 up to $150…you're drunk coles go home.
Agree, I was able to get a Dalwhinnie 15 for $74 a couple of months ago, after the $25 discount on $100 spend!
