    This sucks, literally

  • Had a few in last few years. Is this V8 ok? Having a eufy (5 months and plastic snapped off already for the bin, might take back to jb for warranty) and an old Dyson 6 that still works ok. Does hair easily get stuck in motor for spinner? V6 quite bad and need to clean that area quite frequent.

Same here, my V6 has been abused for many years, even the top canister also broken but it's still going strong. It died once buy revived after replacing the battery bought on Amazon.

      • Yeah same with battery. Bit the bullet and got one from bigw. Used my monthly 10% so $359.10. not too bad. Take the eufy back tomorrow to either get fixed or refunded.

        • Forgive my ignorance, but what you you mean by your monthly 10%?

          • @sal_chi_cha: Everyday rewards card. Once month get one purchase with 10% off (some exclusions) both Woolworths and bigw. Got car insurance so gets additional 10% at Woolworths. So expensive there as shopping around. Mostly fruit and when nappies on sale I bulk up and use the %

        • +2

Nothing wrong with the battery. Just Dyson didn't connect the balancing circuit. So the cells get out of balance and it spits the flashing error.

Sadly, the actual cells are perfectly fine. There is a DIY fix, but involves the flashing the BMS (or buying a replacement from Ali Express).

For this reason…Dyson are a disgrace. So much waste for no reason.

        • How do you select which transaction will get the 10%? TIA 🙏

          • +3

@bigbadaboom: If at store they ask you if you wanna use the 10%. If online put in the monthly code at checkout in voucher. Usually XJUL2024 (this is the current one) or similar ones.

The shark Cordless is better value for money according to reviews.

Only if it was still available at tat price, I had pulled the trigger

        • Same… I meant to buy it but went on an overseas trip last min ugh

    • We have 2 x V6 and bought a V8 last year in a DJ’s sale.

It’s a LOT better than the V6 but sadly not compatible with the accessories.

It has twice the runtime (~40mins) and is much quieter.

The auto clean feature on the head is also a huge positive difference..

      • +2

40 minutes?? I have one of these v8s and it runs for 10 mins on turbo, and the lower power setting is entirely useless, but even then I think it runs about 20 mins tops.
it is not worth the money.. suggest some other brands that others have mentioned at half the price.

        • +3

I hear this and it is wrong, the normal vacuum setting is entirely adequate. Very easy to fill the canister in one session on the normal setting.

I think some people just like to have everything on MAX.

The V8 is a good machine, I was dubious but they hold up and take a beating. Full disclosure, I don’t own one but family do and I use it often. They are tanks despite looking fragile,

          • @Grok: The only time I’ve needed to use MAX was when cleaning glass on the floor.

            To be really really sure.

The normal setting works really well and the V8 is noticeably quieter than the V6 (which isn’t the case with engines.. 😃)

I'm with you on this. They need to run on Turbo to get any sort of suction. But if you do that, after a year or two, the battery lasts 10 seconds on turbo. They aren't designed to run on turbo for extended periods.

People talk these up all the time, but they aren't that good. I wouldn't buy one again (have V8)

        • Just get a 10k mah battery and V6/V8 goes for 60+ minutes.

          • @APN Adelaide: How do you do that? How much is that batt?

            • @jecec: @jecec
              I bought from these guys
              https://aussiebattery.com/product/dyson-v6-high-capacity-900…

Bought it last year for around $50-60, there was a sale. Or may be trying to get rid of V6 batteries.

After using it for free months bought from them again to replace v8's battery.

              • @APN Adelaide: Thanks. But you said you got some 10k mah batts.

Did you need an adaptor? If so, what batt did you get?

                • @jecec: Yea, I am not able to find that exact battery listed anymore in the website.

Nope doesn't need any adaptor can be easily charged with existing Dyson charger.

Changing the battery was also really easy.

  • Looking out for a stick vac, but pity this juat comes with 2 attachment. Hoping for the V8 Extra at least.

    107,000 revolutions per minute??!

    That's not very many.

    • +1

      Why not?

    The last of the V8s.

    • “The last of the V8 interceptors”

V8 absolute lives up to its name and better than this

I have a dreame, prefer it to the Dyson :-)

  • My mum wants one of these, but she's elderly and can't handle anything too heavy. Can anyone recommend a lightweight vac?

  • +5

The main value of V8 is because you can use other power tool batteries using adapters, like ozito, makira, dewalt

    • Wow i'm the only one to upvote - this is legit a game changer and sadly my old LG stick vac (A9 multi or whatever) is tied to crap battery packs

    • My old D45 Dyson which is still working very well was about to be thrown away because of dead battery and no battery availibility any more until I came across the battery adapter Ozito to Dyson. Bought one and could not be happier. Now my Dyson has swappable battery. I chose Ozito over Ryobi or Mkita because Ozitio batteries are cheaper.

    • What spec of battery would you recommend? Ive got ozito.

  • +2

I am very happy with our Roborock, doing a great job

No cervice tool, no hair screw tool. These dyson deals are getting worse.

    • this is just an entry level dyson with minimal accessories included what ya expect

if you want more then you gotta pay the big bucks

    • -1

This one does come with a crevice attachment.

  • +1

I have a V6. It’s probably 6 years old now? Dyson replaced the battery for free when it died a year after warranty. Would love extra battery life but I’m fond of how it just keeps going.

When it eventually dies I’ll probs grab one of these. Idk people say Dyson is overpriced but they seem like solid long lasting tools.

    • Agree. Also got a v6 that i replaced battery on. Only thing is slowly falling apart on plastic parts, bin and under the "sweeper part". But still hanging in there. Printed out a part to hold the bin in place. My V8 is ready for collection. Get it tomorrow.

    • We've had ours v6 for about 6 yrs as well .. and similarly battery replaced after 1yr by Dyson, and we just purchased an Amazon one last month to finally give it longer life .. working well .. but we keep having the unit pulse on/off issue, which fair bit of googling indicates cleaning filters, canisters, etc etc .. which i've done quite a few times and it still seems to happen pretty frequently.
is this something you have had as well, as you've owned your about same time? if so, any tips?

      • @swampson pulsing what I found was mostly either wet (after cleaning it) or clogged filter. Other thing was hair stuck in roller part inside close to motor side. So roller gets stuck or too hard to spin. Had to open this few times to clean out. Its a pain but does help. Fair bit of small screws there.

  • Office works don’t sell. Any other shop price matches this and get further 10 percent off? TIA

    • +1

This is the Everyday Rewards monthly 10% off if you have it (insurance, mobile, etc)

  • Thanks op! $50 cheaper than I paid for a V7 in 2020.

  • +1

I highly reccommend ozito battery adapters for Dysons if the batteries fail. They are safe, better than buying an aftermarket battery from China.

  • Any idea when this deal ends? I want to wait next month to use my 10% discount but don’t wanna miss the deal.

  • -2

Not a good price for v8 anymore

    • +1

what changed? what would a good price be? or v8 is no longer a good buy? in which case what is better?

  • Is the battery replaceable on this specific model? Looking at the pics, it looks like it might be a non replaceable sealed battery. Could also just be bad pictures.
Dyson website doesn't list this 2024 version model that I can see, looking under the model number 447949-01 that Big W website lists.

    • It looks like three screws holding it in place. I believe you just undo them, battery pops out and adaptor goes in place.

Has more tools, cheaper plus free delivery for $385 delivered. Code HERE15.
Want to save more money, get refurbished one for $334 delivered.

    • With everday extra 10% off and 5% discounted gift cards I was going to get it for $345. I'm tempted to pay the extra $40 for the extra tools but it looks like it's just the hair screw and crevice tool? are they worth $40?

Online delivery is sold out in NSW or atleast where my order got routed. I'd need to pickup in a store with stock. might be worth $40 for delivery and some extra attachments.

      • +1

Dyson eBay deal is over, they went up $100 today.

Cheers for this mate, just placed an order for the $384. Still active for me.
