I went into my local Tassie Woolies yesterday at lunchtime (Wed) and there weren't any.I asked and she went inside the gift card display and there weren't any and said maybe the Indigenous $50 was it and I had to explain to her. And they had last week's signage still up for 20x off giftcards!

Been to 8 different Sydney stores (north & Inner West) over past two days. Most had only $50. Two had $100 as well. None had $500 variable load. I had three stores search through their boxes to try to find. No luck.

Yeah stock this time round has been scarce except for the $50 and $100.

Same, visited four different stores over the last few days and not a single $500 variable load card available.

  • Went in 5 differents stores ( Applecross ,East Fremantle, Cottesloe Central, Belmont and the Airport) in Perth, nothing.Zero. Gave up the deal!

You definitely spent more in fuel than the savings from this deal. Very disappointing due to the very low levels of stock.

  • Managed to grab 2 on Sunday. Only 3 there. Went back Mon (yesterday) and none left :-( I got one for $500 and one for $480 so they'd be under the $1k limit on the check outs and the self serve check out supervisor knew all about them which was handy.

    • lucky you.
next time split to multi EDR cards to max profit assuming everyone here should have 3+ EDR accounts :)

  • Also no stock at my local Woolies, however there is stock in the neighbouring Aldi of the variable load. Just wondering if anyone has ever tried taking cards from a different store (obviously not paying for them at Aldi) and scan them at the checkout at Woolies? @WookieMonster your expertise here would be much appreciated.

    • Two issues with that approach:

      1. You would be stealing stock from one supermarket to purchase at another. I am not sure how the ALDI store will react if they notice you stealing gift cards. (The gift card has no value before you activate it, but you are taking a gift card that was recorded by the scheme owner as being allocated to ALDI.)

      2. I thought ALDI only stocked a different type of eftpos gift card (i.e. Perfect eftpos gift cards). When I was at ALDI a couple of days ago, there were Perfect eftpos gift cards, but no TCN eftpos gift cards. Perfect eftpos gift cards and TCN eftpos gift cards are issued by rival companies, plus Woolworths dumped Perfect eftpos gift cards in favour of TCN gift cards earlier this year. Additionally, Woolworths can tell the difference between Perfect eftpos gift cards and TCN eftpos gift cards, because they use different stock barcodes, so a Perfect eftpos gift card definitely should not earn bonus points through this deal.

Perfect thanks @WookieMonster, you saved me a trip and potential embarrassment. Your right, I think they were Perfect Eftpos not TCN.

      • you reckon if 2 supermarkets provided same gift cards and amount that the barcodes will also be same or different?

        • It depends on the type of gift card you are talking about.

For most gift cards, they should use the same stock barcodes between different retailers.

However, (as an example) I am fairly sure there are three different types of physical Myer gift cards available for sale, as they should have different stock barcodes:

          • The version stocked at Myer
          • The version stocked at Coles - I have seen this version sold at one other retailer, but I cannot remember…
          • The version stocked at Woolworths and most other retailers (e.g. Kmart)
          • @WookieMonster: exactly same ones

looks like just need a take a photo from coles and woolies to check
