If there's no HDMI arc, how does it know when to turn on when my tv turns on?
You’re thinking of CEC, not ARC
Can you give a brief summary of each and their differences? Cheers.
- HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) turns the device on with the TV.
- HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) sends the TV audio to the Soundbar using the HDMI.
But as there is no HDMI on the this Soundbar, it doesn't support either function.
It is a drawback. I have my Bose connected to my Chromecast via Bluetooth. I have to press the Bluetooth button on the Bose remote and they connect after 2 seconds.

Had one, took it back. Have to manually mute TV and control via Bose remove, connection via Optical cable not HDMI. Very basic, good for this price point though, full retail you’d be disappointed.
yep i also almost bought a samsung soundbar without hdmi but didnt.
yes this cheap but its basically trying to sell the brand name, without hdmi many will see this as failed product.

@ChipsChicky: You can control the soundbar with your TV remote via HDMI (CEC). There's not a chance I would use BT or Toslink in 2024.
does this one has usb input and can be used to play from usb directly?
I got this for an outdoor TV and was really impressed with it.
Half the size of a number of other units (not to mention others coming with subs) but the sound quality through the mid range was so much better with this. And it still has an impressive amount of base. ^ Note the HDMI comments, but the TV I have it with doesn't have ARC anyway.No ARC is a deal breaker
