      PS2 works perfectly!

  • Any reason why my order has been sitting with auspost for 3 days waiting to be processed?

  • Received this arvo.

Unfortunately I must be unlucky and will have to return mine already.

There's a constant crackling sound coming from the top left closest to the ESC key and after installing windows it just keeps freezing every 5 minutes or so…

    As far as everything else,

Better quality than I expected on the outside.

A few marks and a scratch on the mouse pad.

And I can confirm that the model I received is not a convertible. The screen will open to 180 degrees.

Let's see how good their return process and support is.

      Bugger. Sorry to hear.

    • Hi mate have you reached out to us via email?

      • Hi. Thanks for checking the thread.

Not as yet, I was actually trying to run all the updates etc first before doing so. Which I have now to no avail unfortunately.

Is it possible to talk to someone via phone tomorrow prior to emailing?

        • Yes sure you can find out number in our Google profile.

  • Sorry to keep raving, but this 16GB $259 quality laptop is amazing value. I was using it to drive two external monitors yesterday (one 2K) and it was pushing 4K downscaled to 2K video on YouTube without a stutter. No frames dropped.

Battery life is great - for normal office stuff I reckon 4-6 hours.
    Keyboard and trackpad are excellent
It is super quiet in most circumstances
The MicroSD is handy for cheaply and easily increasing storage.
Screen is nice and bright and clear
Loving the face ID unlock - unexpected
    Super solid in design.
Not super light, but then again not super heavy.
No sign of lag for my day-to-day use. Sitting at 6% CPU utilization as I type this. Outlook, Word, and a few browser windows are open.
    Retro emulation is awesome
Basic gaming is fine - I mainly play Defense Grid :-)
Excellent and comfy on the lap

I am enjoying it much more than the $1000 Acer I purchased (and returned) earlier this year.

    • Yep agreed I’ve been thinking the same. For me personally my only concern is when I connect to my docking station my 2 external monitors don’t always work. I’ve installed all the latest drivers but after each restart I need to manually add them again?!? Any suggestions would much appreciated!!

      • I don't know the docking station you use. I have a small Dell USB C port expander. One monitor is in there and the other is in the HDMI port. No issues.

        • Good to know. It’s a few years old and it’s a Lenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock Gen 2.

  • I bought one and the body and screen all seem good. Checked battery report and it says design capacity is 60002, with full charge capacity at 49240 so I guess that means battery is at 82% health. Is that right? Or do you get that figured elsewhere? Was hoping to get higher capacity but should be fine.

    • I just use the app called batteryinfo.

  • Also, it tends to run quite warm underneath and there's a bit of fan noise but not too bad. Is that normal?

  • Wow. The same at $212 from Amazon. Outstanding value.

    • It's $239?

      • Not last night it wasn’t.

        • yeah I checked about half an hour after you commented

  • Just want to ask, which charger do you get? Dell power pack with pin end, or USB C end?

    • +1

The Dell power pack with pin end.

      • +1

        Same.

  • What is the battery health of the 16GB RAM version?

    • Mine was almost 92%.

    • +1

      Thanks @boxall
But I was hoping the OP could tell me what they have remaining in stock.
Would be a definite BUY if I was assured of 92%.

      • They can’t guarantee that unfortunately, only that it’s over 80%. My 16GB is 85% and I’m happy with it.

  • Upgraded the SSD to a 512GB Corsair P5 plus. Dead simple. SSD inside is a 2230. Nice and easy to adapt for a 2280. Well done Dell.

  • hi OP I bought the 16GB RAM version of the refurb laptop as part of this deal

The laptop is working fine however there are about 3-4 keys on the keyboard which are not responding well. Sometimes they don’t type the letter and sometimes they double type the letter. All the keys are together. They are the p,o,I,u keys. I’m trying to clean and update drivers etc. but if it’s not fixed. What are my options? Can I get another laptop delivered and I mail this one back? I read on this post there is no return shipping charge for me if there are issues in the laptop.

Please advise the process and also any help to suggest how I may be able to fix the keys issue on my own as that would save both of us the trouble of sending laptops to and fro.

P.S. The charger is also not working but I have a spare charger for now.

    • Good luck getting a reply. I emailed them over a week ago about my laptop not connecting to my docking station which they said would work. Haven’t had a reply.

      • I have sent the OP a pm and also sent an email. If I don't get a response in a few days, I will start negging the deal to warn others. Suggest you do that as well as you haven't heard back for over a week now.

        • +1

Yeah I’ll keep an eye on it. It’s still a good deal and they were responding quickly before I bought it, so I’d rather not neg unless it’s that bad they never respond and I’d also call first.

    • Hi mate sorry for the issues. We just replied the email you sent this morning. We will organize a replacement for you first.

      • Thanks for the response, appreciate it. Will keep an eye out for the replacement.

      • Thanks, received replacement laptop, which seems to be working fine. I have sent the other laptop be free return post today. Great service, thanks.

  • Got the 16GB version, looks like its brand new! Unfortunately having an issue where it simply shutdowns it's happened several times already while working. Basically the only app being used is chrome web browser for uni work.

In the event logs I can see two events which seem noteworthy at time of shutdown, could be overheating or a heat sensor triggering a false positive.

Event ID 125 [ Information] ACPI thermal zone \_TZ.THM has been enumerated
Event ID 41 [Critical] Kernel-Power The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first....

Sent an email a couple of days ago, hopefully hear something back soon.

    • Bummer. Hope it gets sorted.

    • I was thinking to get 16GB version, but now I am thinking not to buy.

      • Just remember this is the first one to say that and also their customer service is good but they just take a while to reply (must be busy with reduced staff which is also a good sign).

  • didnt they checked all those things/problems mentioned above before the sent out? refurbished?

  • Has anyone ordered from here? I am planning to order
    https://metrocom.com.au/shop/computers-tablets-networking/la…

But i am not sure whether it include power adapter

    • It’s the same shop and yes includes power.

  • How do you set up "DisplayPort Alt Mode, which can connect to docking stations for usb and display expansion." to add an external monitor?
