Black Hawk Original Adult Lamb and Rice Dog Food 20kg $103.20 Delivered @ Swaggle

670
BH20

Another Swaggle deal, they might as well pay me to be a rep.

Seems like they are running a few promotions on the site including 20% Black Hawk which makes the 20kg Original Lamb and Rice to be cheaper compared to other shops.

Other deals they are running that might work out better depending on what you are after
* 10% off site-wide (Code SITEWIDE10)
* Auto-delivery discount can also be applied: 30% for your first auto-delivery order or 5% if you have done it before.

A few stores I've checked to compare price for one bag.

Store Price
swaggle $103.20
petstock $118.00
petbarn $129.49
petcircle $128.99

hmm comparing others shop, not that much diff/cheaper. with some cashback or new user promo easily matches/beat that price from swaggle

    • Did you find out which site is the lowest with new use coupon?

      • +1

Petcircle is good check the code here on ozb i forgot
        Max $30 i think

    • This is insanely cheap isn't it? 20kg price at PetStock is $178. The price comparison in the OP for PetStock is 10kg.

Edit: Looks like PetStock is just wildly overpriced compared to everywhere else

  • Do any other codes stack with this promo to get it even cheaper ?

  • +1

I couldn't get any other codes to stack - FIRST10ET2, SITEWIDE10, WELCOME15FB. $4 cheaper at $99 with subscription, just gotta remember to cancel

    • Yes tried all those as well including COLES15 also don't stack with auto delivery :(

  • I can't get BH20 to apply (Not valid for items in your cart).

When I select just one bag (with auto-delivery) the price for a 20kg bag drops to $99 - which is good but..

It increases to $114 per each if you select 2
It increases to $119 per each if you select 3

I'm still working on the combinations to try to figure out how to get the best out of this offer..

    • +1

I dug into the T&Cs and note that if you apply auto delivery then no additional codes will work.

So your best bet on BlackHawk is to:

      • Order one 20kg bag with auto-delivery which will offer free shipping and a final price of $99

      • then order additional bags separately with BH20 - which will offer a price of $103.20 (also with free shipping)

Used to like Blackhawk, after they sold to Masterpet, man the price jacked up so much. Used to pick these up for $80 a while back. I understand cost increase and stuff.

    • cost increase..
While people spending like crazy probably due to crypto profits and becoming social media influencers

      • +1

Just trying to feed my crypto dog ha ha :)

      • Or what ever companies justify that it cost more to make, wages etc. Also how petbarn does like a $10-15 return discount on the brand. So how much is it then. Just want to feed my doggo nice food beside some fresh meat.

      • my doggo is bullish on dogecoin

    • Considering how cheap rice must be, have to think they raised the price just because people trust the brand now and won't buy anything else. How much can a lamb really cost?

    • Same. Used to buy it all the time until the price rises. Have found a cheaper alternative and the dogs don't seem to enjoy it any less.

      • What alternative did you find ?

        • +1

          Costco's Nature's Domain has good reviews, $77 for 16kg (35lbs), works out to $97/20kg.

  • +1

never heard of an adult lamb before

    • Adult dog, lamb flavour. But I see your point in the title LoL

      • BAAA d joke

    • Someone always makes this comment 🙄

  • Awesome, thankyou. Grabbed a lamb and a chicken bag for 103ea.

  • -2

This is a very good price as it's below wholesale pricing (I work in the industry).
They are definitely making a loss on this to gain customers.

  • +1

Petbarn will price match too if that is more convenient. https://www.petbarn.com.au/price-guarantee

  • Costly to raise a big dog.

    • +5

      Far cheaper than children ;)

      • -1

nah u can just let kids fend for themselves, or starve. If you do that with ur dog ur an (profanity) :)

Anyone know if they are made and sourced here? Apparently some of their other products are imported if you know what I mean

    • No, imported means imported, so what do you mean? Genuine question.
Plenty of imported products are better than local ones, but local manufacturers have convinced many of us that is impossible.
Eg, I would rather olive oil from Spain than Australia, but don't tell the local olive industry or they'll be up in arms ;)

      • -4

I could be wrong, some of their stuff is made in china

        • +3

  • Thanks OP. Also works for Chicken and Rice.

  • +1

Awesome OP, I thank you and my greedy dogs also thank you!

If you think rice is good for dogs…. Well…

    • I had a customer come up and tell me chicken was bad for dogs. What's led you to believe rice is bad for them? They evolved as scavengers primarily, so I'm sure they would have come across some rice during those early days in Eurasia

      • All dog breeds come from the grey wolf which are carnivores. Sure carnivores can eat other food to survive in times of hardship. But meat is their go to. Plus we have 3 pug dogs. Use to feed them the so called best food. Yet my wife now feeds our dogs meat straight from the butcher at $2.5 a kg. So not too expensive. And it transformed our dogs in about 2 weeks. Was incredibly the difference. So no, rice is bad. Don't believe try it for yourself on your own dogs.

        • What difference exactly?

What's in the meat from the butcher, $2.5/kg is really cheap!

          • +1

@TEER3X: Pug dog is cross jack Russell 13yrs. Use to jump up at the back door, run up our 5 steps etc. over time that all stopped. Started feeding only meat, within 3weeks she started jumping up at the backdoor again. Then after 3 months she started running up the stairs. It's like she has gone back in time about 3yrs.

Butcher meat is just called pet mice. Doesn't matter the fat content because the dog will be in ketosis and fat becomes their energy. In fact they need high fat meat. So you can't feed your dogs anything else, zero carbs or you will take them out of ketosis

            • @Fishesass: Thanks, I'll ask next time I go. Might grab some steaks for myself while I'm at it.

    • +1

Vets recommend it when dogs have upset stomachs.

  • +1

my doggo won't eat blackhawk unless he's starving or another dog steals his food. i've rotated between blackhawk flavours but it's like he knows now it's just the same brand slapped on with a different flavour.

  • Thanks grabbed one…

  • Thanks OP- got the fish and potato

  • Just wondering, when do you transition from puppy to adult kibble?

    • Depending on the breed, usually between 12 to 24 months.

Some kibbles are suitable for all stages, just need to adjust the amount.

    • I just asked my vet literally 20 minutes ago as I have a new Golden Retriever, and for larger breeds she said they go onto adult food at 12 months.

  • We have a high energy dog (German pointer) and swear by the working dog version of this. Nice shiny coat, manageable poops, happy dog.

For anyone who has a Costco membership or might get one, Kirkland Signature Dog Food is made by the same company that makes Taste of the Wild. It's super cheap with it starting at ~45 for 14kg to ~70 for 16kg. They also sell purina and pedigree for around $40 for 20kg.

Wait for tonight for an additional 18% off boosted with Shopback (on top of the 30% autodelivery discount which is an eligible advertised promotion)

    • That will workout well :)

    • Yep I think this is ideal

    • +1

Link to the 18% off boosted with Shopback (on top of the 30% auto delivery discount .
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/858282

Mine tracked at $15 which brought it down to $84 if Shopback honor and pay up.

      • My 5 year old German shepherd has been on this stuff for years. This is how you buy this brand of dog food. Wait for the cashback offer to pop up, buy 2-3 bags at a time and get it for between $80-90

    • Did you get a PENDING $1 USD charge on you card when you ordered this? Specifically from SHOPIFY-CHARGE.COM?

  • Been shopping around for different foods and am always confused by the portioning. Says here 250grams for a 25kg dog, will that really keep my pup full?

    • The portion is less about the satiety but more about providing enough calories for an average 25kg dog.

Our vet says don't worry about the measurements, use them as a guide if you're changing food but adjust serves accordingly if you notice them gaining or losing weight.

Or you can do some calculations based on the caloric density using the nutritional information of this food vs your old food to figure out how much you need to satisfy your dog's caloric intake.

  • Is the BH20 code still working? Wouldn’t work for me tonight.

    • I think it doesn't stack with 30%/5% off auto delivery if that's what you're doing

      • I’m choosing ‘delivery once’. Then putting the code in when I have to do the payment choice. Weird.

  • I just logged into my swaggle account and got the same order as my first (puppy large breed, 20kg) for $93.15 (auto) delivered, fantastic price.
