Just when you thought Prime "Day" was over…

  • Long, narrow jaws
  • Particularly good access to the workpiece due to very slim construction of head and joint area
  • Firm grip also on flat material due to three-point rest
  • Adjustment positions 19
  • Capacities for nuts 34 mm
  • Capacities for pipes (diameter) Ø 32 mm

Copy courtesy of Knipex, I've picked out the main differences to the common or garden Cobra 87 01 250. The trade-off for the poky nose is less capacity, in a nutshell.

Also the bottom jaw has no flat spot ie. it's all serrated, I wonder why that is.

[Edit] It's a 250mm tool. Also just a note, the discount is not as steep as the listing says (surprise!), according to the camels for the last month it's been in the 43-47 range.

You missed some great tool deals!

  • Long time lurker and I've seen a lot of Knipex stuff being posted here. Can anyone share why this brand is so popular with you guys and girls?

High quality and Amazon has been putting up a lot of deals. Also, there's a lot of variety so "something for everyone", like the 100mm versions of the tools that some people love for EDC and others think a waste of money. Also, a lot of specialized or innovative tools so sometimes you see one and think "I've needed that my whole life and just didn't realize it." Finally, they give you specs like say blade hardness and max cutting capacity for different materials, which other manufacturers don't seem to care to provide - it doesn't mean some particular tool is better than similar from another manufacturer, but you feel like you have a better idea of what you're getting and it helps you choose. That's my take on it anyway, others may well think different :)
