Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony - I Want to Watch It on a Really Large Screen

In the past we always watched the Opening Ceremony from home, with our 55cm TV LOL.

This time I thought I'd like to watch it from a really really big screen, maybe something outdoor like in a park, something like a 3m screen! But seeing that it will start around 4am, I accept maybe it needs to be indoor, like a Pub?

We are based in Brisbane Southside so it's a lucky dip if there is anyone here can shed some light.

Thanking you!!

Maybe you should buy a bigger TV?

    • Projector?

      • Need a bigger house with a big media room….

        • You would be surprised what size screen you can achieve in a small room these days. But that is a rabbit hole in and of itself. Perhaps outside the scope of the Paris games.

  • can someone call me once the whole thing is finished

That will be me in 2032 when Brisbane becomes a laughing stock.

hopefully it will be cancelled before that

        • Why do you not want Brisbane or Australia to not host the Olympics?

@Nillionaire: I can think of better things to spend billions on - which will blow out like things always do : EG: the comm games in melbourne did.. and it doesn't interest me in the slightest…

I also don't believe the standard script of 'it will bring in yillions' like they sprout with F1 yearly

            YMMV

            • @pharkurnell: But what about the 10k jobs it apparently brings!? Big or small it's always 10k jobs…

              • +1

@schquid: Yes jobs are good but its short term jobs. The cost to a state to create short term jobs doesnt add up.

If however another 10,000 apprenticeships in trades were created it would be fantastic.

But that occurs less these days as a lot of employers feel they are wasting their time training people just to lose them.

Its one reason we have a skills shortage now.
My son wants to get a apprenticeship next year but in our small town and neighbouring towns we can see the competition will be fierce for those few positions.

                • @2esc: Agree it would be nice.. But TAFE couldnt handle 10,000 apprentices.. probably couldnt handle 2500…

And I know that small town issue… if your parents arent connected either you stand little chance from those who are.. I tried for years back when I left school… kept getting out done by those with connected parents.

          • @Nillionaire: Why did Victoria cancel the commonwealth games?

My son is in training with the goal of 2032 for Australia. I can assure you that your insulting words will not be the case.
Even now, in 2024, kids are working the asses off to be in with a shot.

Ha, its not very nice i agree, with all the rain and the weird stuff. Rather dreadful.

Luckily i had my ipad and mobile with me,but dozed off after 2hrs.

      • The bit with Mary Antoinette where Gojira played was awesome and unexpected. If you're not a metalhead it may not have appealed to you.

The woke stuff was awful and boring. How could they get it so right and yet so wrong?

    C Spire:
"We were shocked by the mockery of the Last Supper during the opening ceremonies of the Paris Olympics.
C Spire will be pulling our advertising from the Olympics."

Yeah it seems quite bizzare that they would want to mock the last supper. A large portion of the world's population are Christians and Paris has just given them all the middle finger. What an odd choice.
