  • Much of an upgrade from the XM4?

    • +3

      I've owned the XM1, XM3, XM4, and XM5.

Yes, it's an upgrade from the XM4. Sound quality, charging time, and battery is far superior.

However, just like the XM3 and XM4 battery issues with irregular/unbalance discharge rate, it is highly advised to purchase your XM5 through Australian stock such that you have access to the Australian warranty should the need arise.

While Australian sellers tend to be more helpful, any grey market stuff (ie sold into Australia, but not the "official"/manufacturer's warranty) we buy is still subject to automatic Australian consumer guarantees. This includes Amazon, whose 30 day return policy is explicitly stated not to override our automatic legal guarantees.

This means if it conks out within a time frame that the reasonable person would think it should still be working, proportionate to the price (and these earbuds are easily expensive enough people would expect them to work beyond the miserly one year manufacturer warranty), then you can still (threaten to) complain to NSW Fair Trading/Consumer Affairs Victoria etc.
