I paid $16.50 some time ago. With the current price, I will go for this one Limited-time deal for Prime Members: Anker soundcore Life Q30 Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling Headphone.

These were great headphones in the 80s, not so much 40 years later. Apart from the hair-pulling headband, the hooks under the upper pads can dig into your ears and the earpads are thin and flimsy and don't last long. And they're open back and leak sound, not really great for portable headphones.
Maybe you should get a bigger head so the hooks don't stick out as much.. 😅
The default recommendation seems to be buying Yaxi earpads for these.
Agree were a good offering 20y ago for 25-30$, probably not now. Still got some Alessandro ms-1 in the drawer, more comfortable and probably a better option (doubt you can get them and modern stuff better).
@TheDimov yeah the MS-1 are great all round sound for the very affordable price at the time. They were always best at rock 👍.
I was tempted to throw away once but still good as a pair for bed sometimes. I should get another set of pads soon if Ali still does them.
Dont throw em away! Too good! :D And yes, for rock especially they are excellent.
Yeah will keep them, would have been cool to do an aftermarket cable, starting to come away from the surround. A single side be good too.
Still got some Yuin PK1 buds from back in the day - they weren't cheap but still sound great and discrete for work. I got an Alix USB C dac, sounds great with the Wavelet app (but drains the battery somewhat).
@G-rig: Also still have some Alessandro MS-1's and now they mainly just sit there and look pretty, they kicked off my headphone journey after my Sennheiser HD497 died.
And I absolutely loved my Yuin PK3's and went through two pairs, the durability and left right balance were terrible but I absolutely loved the fit and sound at the time.
I'm kinda surprised to hear people talk of these brands again, thanks for the trip down memory lane :D
Alternatively you can get a decent pair of wired JBL earbuds for $14.25 (coral red) or $15 (black) with Amazon Prime. They're sweatproof, comes with passive noise cancelling, and has a fairly decent mic.
Maybe I'm comparing apples to oranges, but I use these earbuds daily, and they work out much better for me than ill-fitting headphones that crushes my ears and pulls out my hair.
These earbuds are honestly worth a new post but I can't due to currently being overseas.
Edit: no lifetime warranty tho.
While we're on the subject of great budget hifi, If you can handle IEMs, and many people can't, the Linsoul CCA CRAs have been amazing for me (for the price):

Good pair of headphones soundwise and gripwise; only problem is it sometimes catches hair as its taken off, no doubt a sacrificial offering demanded by the music gods.
Cannot believe they've gone up in price so much. Glad I managed to get them a few years ago from Amazon Au when they were round the $25-$30 mark.
