TP-Link Archer AX23 AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 Router $84 + Delivery ($0 with Uber Delivery) @ The Good Guys (Online Only)

210

Great price for an OpenWRT compatible router. Product is eligible for free Uber delivery @TGG, for qualifying postcodes.

Same price at Harvey Norman, Officeworks and Amazon AU.

Originally I recommended it on this post as the AX10 lacks OpenWRT support. For $17 more I think this is more future proofed and a better performer.

I have this set up as a wifi repeater connected to my PC via ethernet (niche use case but not possible on stock firmware). I also used it for Airlink when I had a Quest 2 and performance was adequate.

Ends 21st July.

  • Another option for some people

No doubt it's a faster router, but it is not sold nor fulfilled by Amazon AU. No OpenWRT support sadly. Also they depict a different router in the manufacturer description to the product images…

May be useful if someone is paying for above gigabit connections (it has 2.5G Ethernet).

That is $179 while this one is $84, not even in the same ball park

  • Regarding Openwrt it appears the router only has 128MB of RAM which may be limiting.

    • 128MB+ is recommended by OpenWRT so it is suitable for most users. If someone wants to set up multiple VPNs (e.g. tailscale) and large adblock lists, sure, more RAM would be beneficial.

  • Can you go back to tp link firmware after installing openwrt and for some reason you want to go back.

    • There were some issues, but users have managed to get back. Haven't delved into this though. Have a read here
