Probably best value premium nc headphones right now.

Yes. Together with the Shure ones. Unfortunately, people don't know them.

      • Wonder how they stack up against the Focals, Beyer Dynamic, B&O, Cambridge Audio or the Bower and Wilkins?

        • They all have different tiers. But for BT, I would spend over $1k, no point.

Oh well, people only know of the 3 main stream ones Sony, Seinnheser and Bose.

The hype got me into the Sony XM5. Offloaded the next day on FB market place, sub par aside from excellent ANC (which distorts the sound anyway).

        • Wonder how they stack up against the Focals, Beyer Dynamic, B&O, Cambridge Audio or the Bower and Wilkins?

in build quality I don’t think comparable to Beoplay and B&W.

some feedback says some stuff about plastic creaking noises on Technics. seems like they cheaped out on build and used mostly plastic parts.

  • three “not too hyped” opinions from reddit.

    1. I bought A800 last week because I wanted flat clean sound, which I got, but I was disappointed with bass frequency - like it is lacking in the bottom range. I have Bose NC 700 and when I put them on, I hear just a bit more bass. Everything else with A800 is really great and better than Bose, mids and highs are the cleanest I ever heard. Sound stage is also great, I tested on jazz and instruments positioning and separation is awesome. Even on electronic music like house and drum & bass the samples sounded great.

But I returned them and waiting for Sennheiser M4 because of the bass. Didn't want the XM5 because I heard lots of reviews talking about bass masking the other ranges.

    2. Well iv had the XM5 (returned) sound muddy and the shallow earcups irritated my ears bought the momentum 4 (returned) earcup fell off but the sound was much better. Bought a second set of M4's and returned as issue with powering on and off.

Bought the A800 and so far I'm absolutely loving them. Sure the ANC isn't as good as the Sony's but it's the same as the M4's and the feel and fit is much better for me personally. Plus they feel more premium than both the Sony's and the M4's

I'm my honest opinion the M4 Were really disappointing and now that the A800 are on Amazon for £250 its defo the best choice as an all rounder.

    3. I am still torn between WHXM4 (I somehow dislike the XM5's design) and A800, and none at all. I had a pair of Bluedios UFO (old one SBC Codec etc.). They sound not bad, when not excellent for that time – they were my allrounder and go to everywhere when it was snowy, windy, rainy, sunny. Even went running while rainy with them on under or over a hood. So that's at it.

Neither WHXM4 nor A800 have a IP certification or are sweat or waterproof. WickedCushion has Sweatz Covers for WHXM4 earpads, and making them somewhat sweatresistent/proof is a point for me.

I had a used pair of WHXM4 and liked everything. I returned them because of two factors: the right earcup/driver had a crackle at full to like 80% volume (wasn't very much consistent), and the cushions seemed to be exchanged for cheap ones because after like 10 minutes I had a pressure point in my right ear – tested them in a store and none of the problems. The WHXM4 are quiter (at least the sample device I tested after I got the A800).

I currently have the A800 for 279$ (euro converted paid 280€ actually) – and what should I say? They really have built quality flaws like: Footsteps/Touch control get enhanced while ANC/Ambient is on and no music is playing. Also the plastic crackles even while listening to music with or without ANC/Ambient. Due louder possible volume, my right ear begins to crackle at like 60% (isn't the driver because when I swap sides of the headphones still the same). Nonetheless I still like them and somehow prefer them over WHXM4 due to more clarity in ranges/sound.

Still 280$ vs 225$ (price converted from my region's currency, which is €), is the 60 bucks really worth it? I mean I could get the WHXM4 + cheap over ear without ANC for workout and outside running purpose. But there are so many problems out there with the WHXM4 like hissing noises, high pitch sound when ANC is on, crackling/defect drivers, broken hinges and so on.

TL;DR: What would you still recommend? Or looking for good IP certificated headphones – I don't know which to be honest, because there aren't that many.
